I have tbh, I’m left a little underwhelmed by the window and I’m surprised that we haven’t brought in a direct replacement for Danny Ings, but I feel that this has ultimately been given the green light by Unai. Barring any disasters, I believe UE can get 8th/9th this season with the team as it is. As long as this is what Unai has decided to do then I’m on board, if for any reason he hasn’t been backed then I’d be unhappy but then I’m pretty sure that UE wouldn’t stand for that.

It might just be me, but I don’t remember James Milner being all that when we had him on loan? He was a much better footballer by the time we signed him properly a couple of years later, and then his game went up a level again when he moved into CM from the wing after Barry left.

I was talking to a fellow Villa supporter this morning and we were debating… Finding ourselves 3 points (or even 5 points if you assume Brighton win their game in hand) from 6th place, with the form we’re currently in, going on the basis that Liverpool, Chelsea and possibly Spurs even are not going to be as poor next season, do we risk bringing in a couple of summer targets in this window, even if it means overpaying? I’m not talking about paying double or anything like that, but the opportunity for European football is there. I had written off this season, but the way that other teams have been playing and our upturn in form has opened the door imo. Would an extra £5m or so to get deals done now be worth it to try and sneak into Europe?

What do we think HQ is? His bedroom or his shed?

Luis Michel Echegaray is a tv presenter for ESPN (formally of CBS) in the US, but he’s an Aston Villa fan from his time in the UK as a teenager. Obviously fairly connected from links with Fabrizio Romano etc, but also just speaks sensibly as a supporter. If you’re on twitter, give him a follow.
