  1. Him or Watkins would be great additions. Both been crap tonight.
  2. Also watched him twice in the AFCON and he was absolutely crap both games. I think this transfer is off. Something funny with it.
  3. If it's players of that quality that's fine. We've got an actual manager/head coach whatever right now, so they'll be OK.
  4. I would very much like to buy one distinct left and right sided winger which these are. This year we ended up with only Jota that preferred the right hand side Two great wingers. Mentioned them both before. I'd lean towards Chounir as first choice if I had to choose now just to get some pace in the side. We're so desperate for it and he's a bit more direct than Stengs. Both would be great buys.
  5. Because he's a nice man who won't embarrass the FA. That's all they want. He's got a ridiculous selection of players to choose from for the next two years. Semi finals the minimum requirement.
  6. Bit strange the multiple links. Makes me think he wants away and his agent is busy.
  7. Three years left on his deal. If Utd don't pay up, offer him a new four year deal with a £150m buyout clause. Pay him £125k a week, or the same wage as Fred if you want to read it that way. If he wants more but is willing to sign, give it to him. He's a man to be relied on IMO. Yes he had a poor end of season (for him!), but the amount of points he's won us in the last two years shows his quality. What a statement it would be. We likely won't be able to buy a player of his level for another 10 years at least.
  8. Yes. Have you read the consistent criticisms of him since we were in the Championship? He has his level and uses. If he's starting 30 PL games next season we've failed this summer. Or, I suppose, we've improved to such a remarkable degree he's free to play his special teams set-piece role when he sits on the periphery of every game but can still contribute. This sums it up tbh.
  9. He was such a wally signing that new contract. Was so clear he wasn't going to play. What was he thinking?! Genuinely does concern me a bit about what he wants from the game. I certainly don't think he's better than Konsa to the degree we should be spending much money on him, if he's even better at all. I think Konsa has edged ahead now to be honest. Axel had an issue with long balls which won't have improved with him not playing for a year.
  10. Ah now, that was plenty of the brodge. The brodge who fought against their director of football Edwards to sign his own players. As the first team manager, they let him do it and he did with gusto bringing in players like Benteke and Balotelli. Salah incidentally was very much an Edwards signing. He had to convince Klopp to bring him in, Klopp wasn't totally sold initially. Stats isn't the only way, but it's certainly a sound way of increasing your chances of success. Then again, it's really easy not to buy bad players. Hopefully we'll show that this summer.
  11. Really good young player. Norwich are far too smart to even consider Hogan.
  12. This is very important and it'll become totally essential if Grealish goes. Lad doesn't get phased, ever. Confidence spreads from him being there alone.
  13. Absolutely no chance he's better than Westwood. Hourihane wants to play an alternative version of football where he doesn't have to touch to ball unless it's a shot at goal or a set-piece. If he starts 30 league games next season, we'll be battling relegation again. Simply too short in too many areas. If we sign a player who can take a free-kick he has no function in a matchday squad.
  14. Not what I would be aiming for on the scales.
  15. If our new wingers are Fischer and Wilson I'll be sad. We need real quality in these positions. Bannan turns 31 this year. Makes me feel old. He's a good footballer but not sure he's what's required, look how much trouble John McGinn had adjusting to the physicality of the PL. Would have been a good signing if we went down.
  16. Very fair concerns. Allow me to try and alleviate them by showing you in terms of xG our attack was better than Newcastle, Sheff Utd, Burnley and Tottenham. We were really poor last season. Very very poor. Rubbish most of the time. We're going to go into this season with a better team undoubtedly. He'll get chances IMO. You're right about his professionalism and self-belief, plus we know about his on the field work-rate. Even if he scores less than 10 goals, he'll be contributing so much to our play. I'd be worried about spending £40m on anyone from outside the league. There are players good enough, no doubt. I don't think we're capable of attracting them. We'd be overpaying to secure a player wanted by others and I'd be worried. However, it's very easy not to buy bad players so fingers crossed. Tbh I'm not sure Chelsea would sell Tammy for £40m so most of this chat is futile. I hope their Havertz move happens very soon so the chances increase.
  17. We possibly could get a better player than Tammy but they'll come with the risk they need time to get used to to the league/club/area. As we've seen time gets away from you in this league. We can't have another season deserving points early on and losing all those games. Tammy is as ideal we can get. Plus Grealish loves him.
  18. He's not following Villa, just them two. It's an interesting thing to do out the blue if it isn't happening.
  19. That black kit is definitely a 2-0 win at West Ham. McGinn and Guilbert scoring.
  20. 26 goals in his first season as a striker is pretty good I think. I definitely would sign him and maybeven use him as a RW. Brentford will be winning on Tuesday and coming up though, so can't see him leaving.
  21. Lucky lucky man to be sat in the chair at the mail when the athletic appeared. Sticks out like a sore thumb when you compare Villa stories to anyone else on there. As well as having zero inside knowledge the articles are so basic. There is loads of other good stuff there. Love most things by Michael Cox and Jack Lang.
