  1. 26 goals in his first season as a striker is pretty good I think. I definitely would sign him and maybeven use him as a RW. Brentford will be winning on Tuesday and coming up though, so can't see him leaving.
  2. Lucky lucky man to be sat in the chair at the mail when the athletic appeared. Sticks out like a sore thumb when you compare Villa stories to anyone else on there. As well as having zero inside knowledge the articles are so basic. There is loads of other good stuff there. Love most things by Michael Cox and Jack Lang.
  3. It's another load of beige from Evans. It says absolutely nothing that article.
  4. Don't mind the idea of McCarthy but he'll be on £45k a week at palace absolutely minimum. This will be a last big move for him so he'll probably want about £60-70k. Three year contract for him takes the whole deal to around £15m. No worries if there's more to spend.
  5. I forgot they went down, good shout. I think you're right, he's better off here. The Scots Championship isn't going to improve him too much. Would really like this deal. We missed out on Justin who can play LB and RB, or rather he turned us down. This would fill that awkward squad gap.
  6. I believe so but he's very two footed, so he could even be a RB who has ended up a LB just as there was a first team spot there. He's great, but not physically ready for the PL yet I don't think. A year more of him playing in the SPL and he could come down as first choice fullback on either side.
  7. It's quite remarkable that header at Watford didn't go in. 50/50 a preposterous save and a shocking miss. I agree, and I think in general his whole game in the air is poor, not just heading at goal. Frustrating it didn't really improve when he was fit because it's exactly the sort of thing Terry should be doing with him. What doesn't the defender want you to do? Do that! All the time! It's the only part of his game I felt he lacked effort in, and I think it's because he doesn't know what he's trying to do and got annoyed at so many fouls being given against him. Nous required. Again, coaches need to advise ideally. Hopefully he's had several hefty meetings with analysts talking him through his game. Outside of Burnley, where we ripped them apart on the deck, Wes' best performances v Everton and Norwich featured him clattering into CBs very early and stopping them winning the ball. He quickly gained confidence and in most games we didn't see it anywhere near enough. He would never be in the right place to even challenge for long balls and clearances. Hopefully when he comes back he's out of the firing line and can pick-up general positioning/hold up bits to work on from our new 50-goal-a-season striker.
  8. Aaron Hickey be a fantastic signing to get hold of and leave at Hearts for the full season.
  9. Waits for first sacking from PL. Could see Watford or even Norwich going for him immediately though.
  10. You've added an extra season. McGinn wasn't part of the team that lost to Fulham. We'd have won with him in the side.
  11. Yeah I'd take him if he cost £5m. But he won't, he'd cost £30m. We need some pace up front as well, Iheanacho isn't particularly quick.
  12. Hope so. Good player with questionable levels of professionalism. Bielsa being the madman he is signed him then just decided he didn't like him. Spent their crucial run in tweeting from a yacht somewhere.
  13. Absolutely. It's really really easy to not buy bad players. There's no excuse.
  14. No one is getting him for less than £80m. So it's Utd or City, no else is spending that. I think he stays.
  15. I can't believe I've come round to this, but I don't think Tammy is out of the question. Unlikely, but not impossible. He's currently behind a guy who turns 34 in two months having started the season ahead of him. Chelsea have just signed a £50m striker who has been told he's playing down the middle. They're being heavily, heavily linked with Kai Havertz who has played as a central striker since the restart as well. If he goes there, I can't see Tammy happy to be fourth choice starting striker. Out wide they have Pulisic, Ziyech, Hudson-Odoi and they've been linked with Benrahma. I don't think Tammy will be a fan of only getting 25 apps in a season, and plenty of them out wide. I think we could get him. And I would love it.

    Ezri Konsa

I think Southgate was what you're describing. Mascherano IMO just ended up at CB and never really knew how to play there. Konsa attitude really impressed me this season. He responded really well to the (unfair) public bollocking from Smith at Newcastle as well. Real strong determination in him. I wouldn't argue with seeing him at DM at times, he's lacking nothing. He was good at RB immediately after lockdown, very composed in tight areas. I think he'll start at CB in the new season though.
  17. Great shout. Would be a great bastard to have alongside McGinn.
  18. Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans, you'd be right about that. McGinn ran rings round him. He's big, that's it.
  19. Here's what it said in case people are wondering:
  20. Was going to put this in Delph thread but it's probably better here. They're in for a shock when it comes to Premier League refs and VAR with their high pressing/fouling game. They'll get plenty of early bookings and be unable to make challenges for the rest of the game. You have to be sneaky words removed in this league, we only learned late on. Douglas the wizard of the high up the pitch tactical foul. I will also sadly add I think Bielsa is fantastic and there's no chance they're going down while he's there.
  21. I remember being so outraged watching this unfold in front of me. **** off Bournemouth. **** off Martin Atkinson.
  22. PAH! That doesn't sound very realistic.
  23. It's a tricky spot we're in. If Heaton comes back 100% we've got a top 5 keeper in the league IMO. Sarkic leaving was a blow as that #2 spot would suit him now, I can only think they don't rate him. We just can't have Nyland there again. The fear he sends through the defence and fans isn't worth it. I don't mind Steer, but he ain't very good. I think a 6 month loan for Reina would suit everyone if he's up for it. It could also be useful having him around with Heaton to try work on Heaton's distribution. He'll never be brilliant, but he's fairly weak in that area as it is.
  24. Wonder if Wolves will stop looking over at us for everything we do now Albion are up. Hope so.
