  1. As far as I can tell (he's deactivated his account now!) he first tweeted about Emery 24th Oct. So three days after this guy:
  2. He's not. Everything he's tweeted about that has been right has already been out there.
  3. This trumps everything else this year. By far the most successful manager we've ever hired. Five months IMO. And as such sacking the coaching team in the summer was never an option. And still plenty of time left with an elite manager and returning players for it to not be a wasted season.
  4. I'm fine with us dropping point in those games so long as we are taking maximum or close to it from the next four after that. Said before I'm expecting 12 from next 8 games, though not too worried if marginally lower given better than expected return from Emery's first games. FTFY. Actual run a bit better. There's a bit of an unknown with the first few games for everyone given the break. Without the break I'd say this run would look better, with all three out of form and us on a high. Right now I'm expecting a win from this. We should beating them at home. There form has improved but so has ours. Definitely that table fails to factor in home advantage. If anything our run would look better if it did though I think. Eg. table says us and Brighton have equal runs, but factor in home/away and ours definitely looks better. We've got one more at home and their lower ranked opponents are mostly made harder by being away games.
  5. Would be good to be pushing at the top 7 before end of Jan window. Table from 6th down is pretty tight... ...and fixtures look somewhat favourable... Lots of teams above us playing each other so guaranteed dropped points somewhere. Jumping the three teams just a point above us into 9th should be minimum aim I think. Three wins I think gives us a chance of leaping Brighton as well. Get anything from our next two games and 7th might come into play. Might be helpful with a week left of the transfer window to be in this kind of position.
  6. Can we stop quoting this guy? He’s never called anything that wasn’t already out there.
  7. Anyone doing a non-Villa save but keeping an eye on how Villa do under Emery? Have just finished 24/25 season in my first save (starting unemployed with no experience or badges, 3 seasons at Swansea University and have just moved to Walsall) and Villa, without particularly major squad changes, have consistently finished 5-7th and have just won the Europa League. Gerrard meanwhile is currently unemployed, having had one season in work since us, in which he got Luton relegated to League One.
  8. The comedian I’ve seen more than any other. Just great every time. She’s awesome. The Gein’s Family Giftshop/Tarot sketch stuff she co-writes is really fun as well.
  9. Not half way through the season yet. Could be on 30 points by then...
  10. This would equal the worst 23 league game run of Emery's entire career to date. Seems on the low end to me, presumably becuase it's going to be heavily based on results and perfomances under Gerrard this season still. The last projection before Gerrard was sacked (post-Chelsea) had us at 46 points. Two point improvement doesn't feel reflective of the improvement in manager. Preseason that same projection had us getting 54 points. Same ppg as that from now to end of this season would get us to 51 points.
  11. Yep correct. To rub it in a bit more, 12th place West Ham also qualified for Europa league that season through fair play ranking.
  12. There's been 8 seasons since the rules changed so that the cup places get passed to best place league side rather than the cup runners up. In that time only 1 of 16 cup qualification places has gone to a side outside the top 7 (Arsenal finished 8th and won FA Cup in 19/20 season)
  13. Saw a version of the gaslamp crest on twitter where the only change was to move the star from inside the crest to above it and centred and it definitely looked better.
  14. Detail presumably not on option 2 because the lion is too small and detail will get lost. This was part of my reasoning for voting option 1 (which I prefer either way tbh) but I have noticed just watching the vote video back again that the more detailed lion is being used alongside option 2 in some contexts where it might appear larger (eg. Villa Live wall) and/or without the circle.
  15. Lol. Did they have light switches back then? I’d say its about as good a symbol for our founding as any, which is unique enough in the sense of it being one of the earlier clubs. The location of the lamp, both in time and place, tell something of the story of our club. And the only other club origin stories I can think of (not that I can think of many) are in a room in a pub or some other building, so seems unique enough to me. It’s enough of our lore that they stuck a replica outside the Holte.
  16. The gas lamp lion literally has extra detail as well that looks way better on the standalone version than the standalone lion from the circle badge. Maybe cos the extra detail gets lost with the smaller lion?
  17. Founding story of the club. Founders meeting under gaslamp to discuss becoming a football club. There’s a mock up gas lamp outside the holte end for this reason.
