Would still like us to sign a Premier League experienced CB to play alongside Mings. Smalling would be my pick. Would also like us to look at R Sessegnon, either on loan or permanent signing. Think he’d be a real asset down the left. The boy badly needs a run of games. If we’re not interested, can see him returning to Fulham.

He is highly regarded. Would have no problem signing him but personally if we can’t get Aarons, then I would prefer Bogle.

Hause is the understudy to Mings and not a regular starter. He played more games towards the end of the season because Smith realised we were soft. I also don’t think we’ll start the season playing two left footed CB’s.

I would still like us to sign a couple of players with height, power and strength, as I feel we really lack in this area. It’s all on Mings currently and if he doesn’t play, we’re soft and concede easily. Smalling at CB next to Mings would be fantastic. Competition for Konza and Engels. I know not popular on here but I would also look at Billing for the middle. He really gives presence and only 24, so can improve still. If neither of these are on the club’s radar, then I hope we look at this issue because I believe it cost us a lot of goals last season.

Will do mate . Currently staying in Cornwall, so will make my way over to Newquay Airport this morning instead of the beach. Not sure if Mrs F or the kids will be happy but VT comes first as always!

I would look to add 6-8 players this window: RB: Aarons 20m RCB: Smalling or Stones 20m Def Mid: Ampadu (Loan) or Doucoure or Billing 10m Mid: Hughes or Swift 5m Wide Forward: Benrahma 25m and R. Sessegnon (Loan) C Forward: Watkins 20m and Grant or Wilson 10m Approx 110m total spend. Sell/release/loan approx 6-7 players: Kalanic, Chester, Jota, Trez, Lansbury, Samatta or Wesley

Could be wrong here, but I think Max Aarons can cover both sides? Otherwise, you are looking at Rico Henry or Antonee Robinson to challenge Targett.

Absolute no to “JLINGZ”. I would seriously question Smith’s sanity if he really wanted this guy in his squad. -
If true, I would happily take Hudson-Odoi on loan for a year. Very talented kid but badly needs a run of games.

Good point. Didn’t Purslow or someone say that you need 3 years in the Premier League before you can pay top salaries? Seem to remember that being said somewhere?

He will have learnt a lot from his first season in the Premier League. Post lockdown we defended better and showed excellent togetherness. Some quality additions to a now settled squad should help. Very likeable character, so hope he continues to progress with us.

So if we could pick up two of the following: Abraham, Edouard, Grant, Watkins, Iheanacho, Wilson, King. Keep Wesley/Davis. Then, sell/loan Hogan/Samatta. I think we’ll have significantly improved our strikers for next season.
