  1. Thanks for telling us I'll make sure I stay logged on. I can already guess what it will be. Don't be mad because he has a career. U jelly bro, u jelly.
  2. Did you know, Jordan Rhodes cost more than any single player signed by Paul Lambert, and that he's currently playing in the Championship on £2.6m a year? We can't even compete wages wise with flippin' Blackburn.. I think we're doing alright y'know. As Asda (can't remember his name) said, "I rest my case".. whatever the case I'm trying to make is.. Don't take it to the higher level of Liverpool and Citeh, talk at our level. Which managers have deployed a similar budget in a vastly superior fashion? The principle is exactly the same and it is relative. Poor use of budget equates to under performance. In direct reply to your question when lambert arrived at out club and was given his first transfer budget did you expect two relegation battles. Who would you have signed with £20m? Serious question.
  3. No they haven't been appalling, that's your interpretation. Lowton was nearly POTS last year, Sylla came in a did a good job etc etc For the 1st 10 games, everyone thought Luna was wonderful. Bennett against Chelsea was arugably MOTM - when he came he weighed about 4 stone, now he's bulked up and looks much better imo. KEA has done much better this year, than last year. For many of these players it's still too early to judge them. A lot of them have either came up a league or two or have come from a completely different country and have been thrown into this situation. The cost of any individual player is arbitury, it's their wages which accounts for more in our situation.. Not many existing professional footballers in the premier league would come to Villa on 10k a week, when most of them ar comfy on their bums for 20k. The quality of player we've bought is largely down to wages, not one of fee's.
  4. Pure speculation - we'll never know. Plus he turned us down by declaring that he wouldn't come to us when we were looking for a new manager. At the time a few people were saying "well if he doesn't want to come f**k him".
  5. Based on what? Lambert's record in the transfer market isn't bad at all, especially relative to what he's had to spend. If Lambert's record in the transfer market isn't bad at all then why during the two seasons he has been with us we have been battling the threat of relegation. Seriously? are you seriously asking that question? I'll bite. In a system where lots of money = success and little money = failure I'd say with the little money provided to Lambert, he's actually done very well in the transfer market. Last season Lowton was one of our best players, Sylla contributed, KEA has played pretty decently this season, Benteke (when not injured) has mostly been good. In fact, I'd say his only dud's where Bowery (250k from Chesterfield, who cares? Plus he assisted the winning goal against Stoke) and due to his (so far) lack of playing time, Helenius. He's been very good in the transfer market, considering how many players he's needed to get in and how little money he's been given.
  6. Helenius is going to Real Madrid in the sumer
  7. more than what i've put into the club over the last few years.. just..
  8. Not one of the best, he's the best in the league.
  9. Dont be mad jelly that Gabby hasn't got you a birthday present like he has with me. U mad bra, u mad
  10. Gabby bought me a shirt and signed it for my birthday. Anything negative about him is now null & void and he shall remain my man for my christmas tree angel indefinately.
  11. Well, this is for everyone apart from G(ay)arethRDR It turns out my wife hasn't given any money for the shirt, so in effect, Gabby has bought me a shirt & signed it.. I wonder what she had to do.... meh, who cares
  12. No. In the words of Dr Spock: "Illogical Captain!" Mr. Spock. The only thing illogical around here is your continuing defence of one of, if not, the, most awful manager this club has ever had the misfortune to employ. He's not the worst. Not by an awfully long way. Any manager with Lamberts constraints would be in a similar position. Ok, maybe we'd have a better goal difference, a couple more points etc, but for what he's been working with, the only important stat is whether we stay in the premier league. Silly comparison I know, but if alex ferguson managed this team, he'd only have us maybe 9th. As far as im concerned, there's not a big difference between 9th and 16th. All of those positions are worthless. Give him a chance with some money, if we don't give him money, no better manager would come to us anyway
  13. I think the quote "worst home form in the history of the club" is ever so slightly overused :-)
  14. When's your step son due? Haha! If it's gabby's, I couldn't care less.
  15. Fixed. Fixed. He kept us up with not much money. That was his job. As for selling himself, he's beaten some top four clubs and some top half teams. Thats harder to do than beat lower half teams.. in a backwards kind of way, he's better at beating harder teams, than he is rubbish ones. Lol
  16. Chalk actually. I'll try an upload a photo later :-)
  17. It's my birthday today. My wife has got me a villa shirt that says; To Mark, Happy birthday, From Gabby Agbonlahor (signature) :-) Chuffed, thanks Gabby!
  18. If Lambert goes on to good things then fair play but I think we have more chance of success if we have complete change. I'd hate new owners to see their first round of investment being wasted on a guy already here. I think its important the owners bring in the man they want and back him. Good response. (No sarcasm) May I ask what your opinion would be if the new owners decided that they would give Lambert 6 months? Historically speaking, that's what has happened in many take over cases. I'd be pretty gutted and would question it from the start. I'm sure they haven't bought the club on a whim so I'd question why they either A haven't identified a manager they want or B weren't able to convince them to come. My advice to you would be not to be gutted. As I said, Lambert will be under pressure straight away. There's no way new owners are going to put up with a very poor start. They're going to want a good start to their tenure. I mean, me, you and no one else knows what's going to happen in the coming weeks and months. Let's just try and remain optimistic that good things are (hopefully) coming. Then we can talk about which super star we can buy :-)

  20. I'd take that, as long as we didn't look to be in getting into serious trouble before then, would prefer a clean start with the new owners but he has bought well and agree it would be interesting to see who he could pick up with more funds, especially if it's true we were looking at at Holtby etc but couldn't afford. Although I can't see us anywhere near a europa league spot but here's hoping. I agree :-) I just think he's shown with 5m+ purchases, that he can identify a pretty good player. If we're bottom in october and nothing has changed, then as I said, thanks for the effort, but its not been good enough. Whether or not he can identify a good player or not for £5m isn't really the question fan's should be asking though surely? Isn't it more important that the manager of any team gets them playing good football with every player knowing their job and requirements?! I don't see how Lambert can survive under new owners regardless of financial restraints. The football has in the main been diabolical, add to that the majority of signings have been poor and not worthy of wearing the shirt. With the exception of benteke most fans are still look at the likes of gabby, delph, albrighton and wiemann winning our games for us in an attacking sense, not one of them a Lambert player. Nothing Lambert has done gives me confidence that even with more money he would have us playing good football or that he could even be trusted to bring in the right backroom staff to assist him progress us further on and of the pitch. It's also hard to feel sorry for someone who knew what they were getting into when they took the job and with a salary the majority can only dream of. We need a clearing of the decks both at boardroom and playing level, and maybe then we may actually in the not too distant future get back to where the biggest club in the second city belongs- at minimum challenging for europe. But as I said, I'd give him a chance (only until Christmas) with some money. I think he'd suprise a few people. If we buy a couple of higher calibre players, then naturally, the football will be better. I just think, give him a chance. Give him one summer. If it doesn't work out, then we can look at changing things around. With his hard job very nearly finished, I think the least us fans can give him is a chance to see what he can do with a bigger budget (potentially) :-) Although I love your faith. The obvious fact still remains in that the football has been consistantly crap. Buying better players doesn't guarantee success, especially if the formation and tactics don't suit. And as other posters have mentioned allowing him more money to then fail and have a whole set of new players to shift under new management makes no sense. If the football we played was entertaining and we looked organised, I like many could put up with skirting with relegation whilst waiting for the team to gradually grow. It's not been happening though, and the odd result against cheslea, arsenal or whoever doesn't prove otherwise. It's beating those around you that matters in the prem. For what it's worth I think Lambert could make a good manager in a few years, unfortunately at the moment it isn't working and I think the villa job has come too early for him. And it's too bigger job for a Lerner. Firstly, thank you for a good, detailed answer Secondly, Lambert has said that this team is behind where he anticipated it to be, I must say I appreciate his honesty. I also think he's a (somewhat) progressive manager. We know he's tried to sign a creative midfielder. But we don't know what impact that player would have had. After seeing both ex players and ex managers do well, and sometimes poorly, I think I'd like to be double sure we're making the right choice in sacking a person. Without giving Lambert that chance, we'll never know. Imagine if we sack him, someone else picks him up and he does an extremely good job. It'll be the same old 'what if' that villa fans have become somewhat accustomed to. Give him a chance! :-)

  22. That sounds well shit. I'd hate to waste my days doing that rubbish. I hate that stuff, I'd rather read poetry from Japanese samurai.
