  1. Certainly has the smell of the farmyard about it
  2. Still did the Ask Fred thing and compiled the crossword in Mojo I think it was
  3. I think you have him confused with the leader of the Labour Party
  4. He doesn't have a Wiki page, when you think of all the no marks that actually have a page and Fred Deller doesn't, it seems a bit wrong
  5. There were a lot of European drivers here, they've gone back home too
  6. This is brilliant! Syd Griffin (Long Ryders / Coal Porters) talks to David Hepworth and Mark Ellen, there's something in here to make @rjw63jealous, plenty in here for @mjmooney and even a snippet for @chrisp65 Can't recommend this series highly enough
  7. Another long one, a 2 hour documentary on what it's like to do the toilet tour in the States. A lot of it I can relate to, some of the more US specific bits (like the 14 hour drives, f*** man Norwich is bad enough) not so Features Steve Albini and a load of people you'll never have heard of. (There's a member of Sunn o)))) too ). I really don't expect anyone to actually watch this but for me some of it is very amusing
  8. Starts looking for a house rental the other side of Chester....
  9. There is nothing wrong with The Smiths but I'm not sure I'd want a whole one these days
  10. Another day, same old corrupt shit that will be all above board by tommorrow and no-one will give a shit
  11. Technically not Labour but they do run the council Now it all seems very reasonable, I mean why would you want a bin in your lake but the whole school teacherish, This one will be removed thing is a bit OTT, of course it will, so will the next, and the next but here's the thing.... It's their own f***ing bin! LSSL is Liverpool Street Scene Limited a company wholly owned by Liverpool City Council and it's only contract is with the council to keep the streets and public places clean If it was my bin that got loose and caused the ecological disaster claimed here....
  12. I didn't know that but it's hardly what is responsible for shifting votes in their direction. We're mid-term and it's a form of left-wing protest was what I was getting at. They aren't earning the votes, people are just shifting to them because they don't want to vote Labour (or admit it right now), those votes are very soft IMO
  13. Dexter, a salted caramel milk stout by the Kirkstall Brewery. ABV 4.5% The salted caramel does not dominate and it has a slight effervescence with a quite dry aftertaste. I like this a lot
  14. I watched this this afternoon. A trio of black brothers formed a band called Death in Detroit, thats Detroit, which musically for their community at the time was the home of Motown. They pre-date the Ramones by a good two years. It's an interesting yet tragic story of beiing discovered 30 odd years after they split up (and after David Hackney who wrote the lyrics had passed away)
  15. Strange little venue the Borderline, I worked a couple of gigs there, the stage was tiny and it was the first place I ever encountered staff waking around selling shots (of tequila obviously given the setting), that idea took decades to reach the provinces
  16. I wasn't involved in that 84 tour (Too big a band for me and too early) but I did go to quite a few gigs that year, I resat my A Levels that year so had quite a bit of free time and later it was my first year in Uni (So yes... ditto) I remember there were two UK tours that year. May and November I think. I definitely saw them at the Tin Can Club in Brum and at the Royal Court in Liverpool (where I did later work), I think Rock City in Nottingham, The Marquee in London and somewhere in Manchester that I forget
  17. Both Peter Buck and MIke Mills are Hitchcock fans both have played and recorded with him, sometimes together
  18. Not helped by the fact they keep deporting EU citizens coming here to look for work in the NHS
