  1. There were some classic 10" though. Killing Joke - Follow the Leaders, Marc Almond & Bronski Beat - I Feel Love, Gerry Anderson's - No Strings attached and even a couple of years ago I bought one by Robyn Hitchcock and Andy Partidge which is great
  2. If it aint on On-U it isn't the best 10" ever I think half my 10" collection is On-U but I'm still missing loads of them, the On-U 10" Discoplates are pretty much all great, I have a good number still to go
  3. Why is this on page 3, has everyone gone on the wagon? Anyways I have a new delivery. This months theme is Yorkshire. Everything delivered is new to me. If you remember the Rhubarb beer I absolutely hated by Brew York, well I now have another of theirs to try …Raspberry pi(e) and it’s another oat milkshake pale but with raspberries. Abv 4.7% it’s not as bad as the rhubarb one but it’s also not much better either. I’d still class it as terribly, it's got this really weird hollow taste sensation where the effervescence and the tart raspberry taste don't really meet the smoother oaty aftertaste in the right place. Second worst beer I've had this year, glad to get it out of the way first
  4. It seems the DUP have elected the really batshit crazy Edwin Poots as their new leader. If the situation wasn't so serious I'd be looking forward to fun times ahead Someone should carbon date a fossil in front of him
  5. I think it was Arizona or somewhere like that where as an experiment they gave out free beer at vaccination sites in one county. That one county vaccinated more people than the rest of the state put together
  6. Those Bolton maps look like they hold the key but I wouldn't be so sure. There is one other area in the NW with high rates and that is actually where I live. I've not seen a vaccination map of that area but I fully expect it not to look like the Bolton one. Affluent area, low population density, low amounts of Asian population and a much higher than average population age. Half the kids are off school again, the Swimming Pool has closed down for a ten day deep clean (an outbreak centered here) and the pub closest to my house also closed as an outbreak was spotted there too. I really would be astounded if this was an area with low vaccine take up
  7. Hasn't alas been replaced by Common sense?
  8. It's just been announced that the R rate has just risen to be in the range 0.8 to 1.1 from 0.8 to 1.0
  9. So do we think that Johnson is going to have to put a brake on the easing of restrictions this evening?
  10. Cookies isn't directly related to GDPR, the rules on cookies are to do with the ePrivacy Directive. Legitimate Interests doesn't come into it
  11. No idea who this Unite bod is but I did see the tweet last night, retweeted by a Labour Councillor saying it was racist. I just don't get why people feel the need to retweet something, even though they are disagreeing with it because they feel that it's wrong. You can comment on it without amplifying the very thing you are complaining about. It's idiotic
  12. The rules for what they are worth in regard to US websites use a determinant of if the company is aiming their product at the European (or UK market), so if a UK citizen stumbles across a US website that isn't targeted towards that person the laws don't apply but if that website is courting a UK audience, then they do
  13. Yes it was but it still delayed the lockdown by a week
  14. Was this the US version of the Amazon website? In which case they have no authority but if it was .co.uk then they do have authority and can levy fines of up to 4% of GLOBAL annual turnover. They can also impose a temporary or permanent ban from data processing at all. The first step however would be rectification of the issue. It would be a huge courtroom battle which would drag on for years if they didn't comply. So in reality, nothing
  15. Well you could make the futile gesture of reporting to the totally understaffed ICO but that is about it
  16. Illegal, they are supposed to have a reject all but essential option
  17. Not really, the last time they didn't work in his region was because he delayed in locking down by a week. Merseyside who did lockdown with almost the same rates a week earlier than Manchester, came out of lockdown many weeks before Manchester. He himself was a major factor in the Manchester lockdown not working
  18. I guess this thread is perfect for this I'm currently slightly obsessing over the vinyl format that reall came into it's own in that decade you either love or hate the '80s. I'm talking about the 12" single 12" singles or Maxi-singles were really born in the 70's with Disco and then Dub but by the '80s they'd really become a mass market thing. Every release had a 12" version and often it would have an extra track on the B side and a (probably dreadful) extended mix as the A side. They essentially became a marketing tool which probably reached the height of stupidity with Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Two Tribes, which remained at number one for what seemed like forever because ZTT were releasing a new 12" version with new mixes every week, there were 6 different versions of the 12" single released. Anyhow, I'm not here to praise marketing but the format What is so great about the 12"? well it obviously allowed for longer tracks but because the groove doesn't have to be so tightly packed on the vinyl it also allows for a greater dynamic range, especially at the bass end, which vinyl can if badly pressed lose quite a bit of bottom end definition. 12" singles sound better. A huge percentage of 12" singles are utterly awful but when the format was used correctly and creatively it could produce something magical. There are some tracks that wouldn't exist without the format, most famously the worlds biggest selling 12" ever, Blue Monday by New Order which has never been released in the 7" format (Blue Monday 1988 was but... meh!). It needed to be a 12" because of it's length and it needs the extra bass range. You were an absolute idiot if you bought Sparks Number One Song in Heaven on 7" because the B side with the long version was the full on Long version on the B side of the 12" and the 12" sounded sooooo much better, Tainted Love by Soft Cell, again, if you didn't buy the 12" you never even had the pleasure of Tainted Dub, a dub version of the song and it is awsome. The reason I started writing this is because I've been playing a few in the last few days for a bit of variety and I'm playing Baby I love You So b/w Looks Like We're Shy One Horse / Shoot out by Colourbox far to many times back to back because it's utterly fantastic and again this wouldn't really exist without the 12" format and it's 12"s like this that I really do thank the format for. It allowed creative people to be a lot more creative and sometimes they produce stunning results like this (Remember this is the B Side - the A is almost as good!) Dig this and praise the 12"!
  19. I must have had 5 or 6 DPA requests from the police today, not that unusual in itself but every single one of them has been utter bobbins 10 digit phone numbers House numbers too high for the street its in Completely wrong postcode for the street (Like they looked up the postcode for a road with the same name in a different suburb) One I actually read three times and still haven't got a clue what was being asked for and on phoning this guys colleague who I'm in contact with regularly, even she just exclaimed WTF! And other similar bloopers but the latest absolute belter from Greater Manchester Police... they sent it to the completely wrong Taxi Company because we aren't based in sodding Burnley It's like checking facts isn't something the Police are trained to do
  20. I did say it was full of prog
  21. I remember when they were a value brand. My parents never once refused to buy me a new pair of Docs, they always passed the parental sensible and good value tests
  22. Ta, it'll be an if I'm in Chester as opposed to a making a special journey then
