  1. Third one is about as clear as a penalty gets, unbelievable. The first one is 50/50, I wouldn't have given the handball one.
  2. The one time I want these scumbag clubs to win and they all lose together like this. At least we know where we stand and Man City and Arsenal's fixture congestion means they can focus on beating Tottenham
  3. It doesn't feel real. How did we land this manager when we were sitting 17th with "a squad that needed to be overhauled"? He's like an angel. Am I dead?
  4. Just blown away by that 2nd half. This is an Arsenal team that has been absolutely flying. We're playing a packed schedule and we've been patchy, and we put in a 2nd half like that. Massive. So chuffed for Unai, doing the double over them.
  5. I can see it now, this image is going to end up being real minus the sponsor, disproving hundreds of posts on here calling it fake. A real pallettegate for the modern era. I think what we'll end up with will be pretty close to this, and I like it.
  6. Disastrous night for the coefficient. Liverpool winning was something we all banked on and they got smashed at home 0-3. We really need City and Arsenal to win their return legs now.
  7. West Ham had 1 shot to Leverkusen's 33. It would have to be a decent turnaround.
  8. I think it's absolutely a penalty. Neuer positions himself in a way where Saka can't avoid the contact even if he makes the most of it. I'd want it a penalty if it happened to us.
  9. Have you got CVByrne on mute? There is absolutely an element who is trying to protect themselves mentally by declaring that the worst case scenario is inevitable. Personally, i'm betting against us, on Tottenham, and for German sides against English sides in Europe. At least my sportsbet account will be happy if it all goes wrong.
  10. What's the value of the player with the most goal contributions in the best league in the world? More than what we got for Grealish i'd suggest. I don't think anyone is paying it.
  11. If he was doing exactly what he's doing for us for United or Liverpool, Transfermarkt would value him at €80mil. Absolutely brilliant bit of scouting to uncover him, could be anything.
  12. There's a photo from about 5 seconds later where he's got his arm around the lad. Absolute doctored mountain out of a molehill.
  13. Yep, this thread is full of the false dichotomy between our ancient and beloved home and the most soulless bowl imaginable. In fact, we basically already know what a modern version of an Aston Villa stadium might look like, because we've seen the renderings of the proposed North Stand. There's no reason that aesthetic can't be expanded to a whole stadium design.
  14. I don't think we want to copy it, it's a very different aesthetic and it's specific to the team that use it. It's just an example of how brickwork or at least a brick facade has been used in a modern stadium. Everton's brand new stadium also has brick elements. It can absolutely be done. I think they'll want to soften the blow by bringing some of the elements of Villa Park with us, and the brickwork is iconic. I'd also expect the statues of the Lion and William McGregor to be there. They're absolutely not going to build some sort of hypermodern monstrosity like Sofi Stadium or Allegiant Stadium. The brief for those would have been totally different than it would be for a New Villa Park.
  15. This has got to be a wind up.
  16. Agree fully, we should be aiming to capture a bit of the aesthetic magic of Villa Park, reimagined in a modern stadium. We'd want to see the brickwork, a massive single tier Holte end, mosaics, the statues. I know a few people have talked about Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis with it's brick facade. It's not quite the same aesthetic as Villa park but it shows that bricks can be done well on a modern stadium. The new Everton stadium features brickwork as well.
  17. This is sad, similar to what has happened with West Indies cricket over the last 20 years. It just compounds the issue because you lose your most marketable and talented star
  18. The current rules regarding sustainability are decided by and designed entirely to benefit the establish big clubs, and don't actually stop bad owners or clubs going under. I don't see how a regulator could make things worse than they are currently. What exactly are people afraid of here?
  19. The USA really nailed it when they had the red and white hoops a decade or so ago. It's such an obvious and distinctive look for them and they should have stuck with it. Everything else they've done since is disappointing.
  20. Not at all! There are owners all over the league who are widely considered to be terrible for their teams but make money hand over fist, the most notorious probably being James Dolan of the New York Knicks.
  21. Gabby has England caps. Sure you can say that his only real asset was pace, but that pace was absolutely blistering to the point where it changed everything about how the defence had to set up and created space for himself and his teammates. It's like arguing that Shaq was only good at basketball because he was enormous. I think Duran shows signs of being a more well rounded striker, but if he ends up starting almost every game and scoring 50 odd goals over the next 4 seasons as Gabby did at the same stage of his career, we'd all be pretty happy with him.
