Methinks Lambert has ran out of the B&Q paint used to paint over the cracks. We've played shit for most of the season, worse than the end of season run last season and got away with it. We've resorted to hoof ball and frankly got away with it against Hull, Cardiff, Norwich, Baggies, Sunderland, Southampton and have been found out today. Our luck has ran out.

signing just one creative midfielder isn't going to solve much in terms of our shortcomings as he'll be targetted by teams. I thought our midfield were decent today. first half Delph and Westwood were very solid, but 48% possession at half time, at home, vs the bottom team is a disgrace. Also, if you have a front 3 who don't run the line, put the opposition under pressure then you may as well accept nullifying the opposition as hpur style of play. But at home that simply cannot be acceptable. Gabby was so much better second half. Benteke looks uninterested. If he's injured still play kozak or push either gabby or weimann in and play a winger. if not drop him. He isn't interested anymore. We look more solod defensively but that that comes from a settled back line which we never really had last season. Frankly though, by and large i really do not see much improvement on last season. In fact when you look at the end of season run we've gone backwards. We play awful football mostly. This capitulation from England in the first innings, for me, isn't a fluke, it's been coming a while. The cracks have been there with England's batting all year round and frankly, the summer ashes has whitewashed over the failings in the batting lineup and form. I've been worried about this winter ashes since the end of the summer one. You could see that, despite coming away 3-0, Australia took huge encouragement from it and have improved. England haven't. For so many players to dip form is worrying - Cook, Trott, Pietersen, Prior. Is there something wrong with the batting coaching? Are they putting too much emphasis on the fielding and bowling that they are neglecting the batting?! When four of the batsmen you rely on to give you good runs all struggle it really puts pressure on the bowlers to deliver. We may have won the ashes 3-0 in the summer but that was down to superb bowling and a superb hit of form from Ian Bell.

our batting has been questionable for a while now. Not hit 400 runs in the last 17 tests. Cook, Trott, KP, Prior off form for at least 9-12 months now, lower order incapable of hitting decent runs. Arrogance crept in as well in that period thinking they would just turn up and aussie and kiwis would roll over. So much pressure on the bowlers to deliver every time. Carberry looked good but Cook and Trott especially woefully out of form. On paper we should tonk these but as a batting side there are serious problems. I knew 295 wasn't as good as people thought as our battings been so poor this year. Bringing in Bresnan as night watchman in the summer shows a struggling batting side trying to slow the run rate down only adds to this.
