  1. Imagine looking good at half time then conceding 4 in the second half. I mean, who does that?
  2. Luton have a nice away shirt. That is all.
  3. Then that is just crazy. I assumed it was a "tax" based on income, which would see Citeh and ManUre slugged with larger amounts compared to your Luton's and Burnleys. After all, we hand out income/rewards based on league position, so you can't evenly tax if you don't evenly distribute wealth. I'm glad we refused.
  4. But it's not just Aston Villa paying the clubs below us, right? We all pay an amount, I'm assuming based on something like income or league position. So the argument of having the most money to compete seems null and void - it "weakens" everybody else in the same way.
  5. When it comes to Big Ange - it depends where you are from. Down here, it's the only thing we see or hear in the mainstream media - because he's an Aussie, mate! Ditto: Daniel Riccardo Oscar Piastri Nick Kyrgios Sam Kerr etc, etc
  6. Disagree. At this point we've had 50-odd minutes of spurs pressing us at the back. There are no options in midfield because our defensive line has the extra man (5 at the back). Regardless - and when we are reeling from a spuds goal out of nothing - Konsa decides not only to dribble the ball forward through that press, but delivers a shocking short pass when his running forward leaves him out of position and surrounded. Brain fade.
  7. Saw a studs up challenge from Brighton right in front of the referee. Caught the opponent with the studs on the ankle being off the ground and out of control. This one went to VAR. ..... not even a yellow. McGinn was stupid with his tackle and should never have made it - but foul/yellow/red is a lottery.
  8. Unai got this tactically wrong. Playing 5 at the back when all season we have played a high line boggles the mind. You now have 1 more opportunity for spurs to beat that offside trap with 1 player in the defensive line not stepping out/keeping the line. Doing so at home gave spuds exactly what they wanted: Our extra man was in the defensive line so they could press as they always do knowing there was 1 less attacker for the counter/long ball. Ange is not a tactical genius and his sides always play the same way. That meant we effectively had Digne and Cash sitting deep, and no easy way to play out. You can argue that it was working in the first half - but I would argue that a scoreless draw was the best result those tactics could produce. Zero attempts on target in the first 45 speaks to that.
  9. 5 at the back. All sitting deep. 76% spuds possession in the first half alone. All the play in our own half. Say what you like about McGinn and Konsa - that was as negative a game plan as I've seen under Unai. Very poor and played into Spuds hands.
  10. He'd know with that daft play just after they scored the first!
  11. I'm not sure what Zaniolo brings. We are a man down - feels like 2.
  12. Shame the 2 players you can usually count on to keep their heads - Konsa and McGinn - both lost their's today.
  13. Can anyone enlighten me to who the dour commentator is on my stream? Never a good thing to say. Why isn't Hendrie commentating?
  14. We look tired - especially our attacking 2. 5 at the back is too generous to Spuds. We can't play out with both wingbacks sitting deep.
  15. If we lose this it won't be the end of our season.... ... but it will sure feel like it!
  16. Interesting some of the reactions here. This was Ajax. At their stadium. In a season where they find themselves 27 (twenty seven) points off the top of the table. In their last throw of the dice to stay in Europe. And nothing else to play for this season. They threw themselves at everything. Did you see the reaction of the defender who desperately slid in to block Bailey's shot late on? You'd have thought he'd won the lottery. Now consider that we started with 5 changes to the team. We have a very important game vs Spuds in the next few days. We limited them to 5 shots and something like 2 corners. Emi had 1 save to make. We did not concede. Nobody (except Pau, maybe) was injured. That's exactly what Emery would have wanted. Job done. Nothing to see here.
  17. Thread title immediately reminded me of this:
  18. I'm with @JAMAICAN-VILLAN on this one. These are notes which contain 1-line responses from a set of questions. They are not going into any detail. That immediately makes them sound glib and insulting. The FFP response, in particular, reads badly. It sounds like a "nope - you're wrong and you don't know what your talking about" type of response from the club on first reading. But what I think it's trying to say is, essentially, there is NO secondary level of FFP approval for everything. That is, if they decide to buy a player they do not first have to run it by the FFP department which rubberstamps the signing or tells them to GTFO. It's simply a budget they have to keep to and everybody is aware of it at every level in the club.
  19. I love it. Unai is talking to Digne, but there isn't a person on the bench(es) that isn't listening intently to what he has to say, rant or no.
  20. Loving the avatar @Marka Ragnos
  21. Makes such a difference in our midfield compared to the previous 4 of McGinn, Luiz, Kamara, Tielemans - who are too similar in my opinion. He's more likely to drive the ball forward and get into scoring positions. Excellent against Forest and still not at 100% capacity. Will be important for us as the season comes to it's conclusion
  22. Good again today and against Forest's best player: Hudson-Odoi. He's good as a right back - his only issues this season, for mine, was when he was deployed further up the pitch. That's an experiment we don't need to see again. And yes, made a mistake dropping from the defensive line when we conceded the 2nd. He needs to work on that.
