  1. Your not supposed to say that!, we are getting the Manager that the majority asked for. Doug, Houlier, McLeish, Lambert, Who's next ! The public gets what the public wants.
  2. Will be good in the Championship, and i hope we keep him. Just need another Two midfielders,.
  3. No disrespect, but he reminds me of Ray Walker, Paul Kerr, David Norton, or Darren Bradley. I quite liked his attitude when i first saw him. but he's symptomatic of our decline.......
  4. No chance of a Boycott, Its gonna get tasty Tuesday night though. I go to games too. Don't blame it all on the players, check out the absent landlord.
  5. Some sense there. But its all burn the witch time down here. You can get all the managers you like, but the "wet behind the ears" attitude of our board is leading us to disaster. Lambert has made mistakes, but if you keep changing manager what do you expect !
  6. Unless we buy a minimum of three players the last fifteen games will be very unpleasant, and we will go down. I think Lambert has made some mistakes, but the bigger picture is the laughable ineptitude, bad decision making, and lack of football knowledge displayed by the board (have we got one?) and owner. It also doesn't help that Lerner lives in another country. I was no fan of Ellis but at least he was here, and knew how the fans / locality felt. Lerner isn't malicious, just incompetent I don't think Lambert will be sacked as Lerner can't afford another round of compensation, and we also we need some stability. My guess is the bullet will come If we aren't in the top six of the Championship, next November /December, and the discontent gets too much for Faulkner, Lerner, etc. I hope Lambert gets the time and money and can turn it around though.

    PROTEST?

Great Idea..... Perhaps we can dust down those old anti Doug / O'Leary / Houlier / McLeish bedsheets. It could read something like " Lambert - We're not fickle, we just don't like you" And then everything would get better wouldn't it?

    Liverpool

Liverpool have possibly the most deluded, arrogant, overblown, self important fanbase in English Football. Last won the League over 20 years ago, yet we are all supposed to believe they are a mighty power, and of course they are never to blame for any misdemeanours, that happen on or off the pitch, (eg Suarez). I still remember there 'fans' obnoxious behaviour from the FA Cup Semi at OT in 1996. I just hope Stevie G stays there as long as possible, and drags them even further into the depths. A lot of their support plastic or otherwise, appear to be in a state of deep denial as to how average they really are, which of course makes it even funnier. It will be interesting to see what happens if they don't qualify for Europe, as they seem still think they are competing with the likes of United, Barcelona, and Milan for players. Just very glad we have got a good manager in Lambert, it will be interesting to see how long Rodgers gets ! Onwards and upwards.
  9. I fear Gary is out injured for the season, unless we get his big brother back from Sunderland.
  10. Yeah, would prefer any combination of Ireland / Herd / Clark / KEA in midfield above Delph, Albrighton, or Bannan who are simply not good enough for this level. At least it would add some physical presence and tackling ability, if not mobility.
  11. He's made mistakes, think it was asking for trouble to buy Lowton, and Bennett, and ask both to step up and perform immediately. Whether that is due to financial constraints i don't know. Vlaar and Benteke are good signings, at least we attack teams this season even if the results have been worse than last season so far. I don't think his job will be or probably should be on the line, even if the worst happens. We've had too much instability over the last few seasons, changing the manager this season isn't going to fix that. Its going to be a rough ride this season, but we need to be patient, and get reinforcements in January, particularly in midfield. Its the same people who roll out the anti O Leary / Houlier / McL banners every season on the Holte, who were crying out for Lambert to be our manager, so the next few months will be interesting.
  12. Had a poor game yesterday, gave the ball away too easily. Still think he is a decent player, but he needs some players who can tackle around him. It doesn't help that he is finding his feet in what is shaping up to be a relegation battle either. I think with two or three decent midfielders our league position would be looking a lot better - the midfield area has been getting continually worse for three years.

    Relegation

Pretty obvious after the Fulham game that we lacked experience (and that includes the Manager), and quality in the team. The table doesn't lie and the current squad is very thin, with this team we will finish in the bottom 3 or 4. although he's made the odd mistake i feel we have to trust the manager, even if the worst happens. The midfield is much too lightweight with too many similiar players who lack the required quality at this level, Albrighton, Bannan, Delph, or deadwood, N'Zog, maybe Ireland, which we need to ship out. The current problems stem from ineptitude in the boardroom as much as anywhere. On the plus side i like the look of Guzan, Vlaar, Benteke, Lowton, and there are still 87 points still to play for. Apart from the top 5 or 6 teams the Premier League is massively overhyped, Midtable Swansea, Sunderland, Stoke, etc are hardly any better than us. We need quality reinforcements, particularly in midfield if we are to survive though.
  14. I've liked his attitude since seeing him in the Youth / Reserves a few years ago, and he nutmegged a player - you cant fault his attitude. Unfortunately like Albrighton, probably Delph, and a few others, he isn't going to cut the mustard just because he came through the youth ranks. He has had his chances.. If he is still around our first team this time next season he'll have found his level, and so will we - in the Championship.
  15. Delfomsou, Bannan, not good enough. Thought Nathan might do the business but no, seen this before in the 80s. Herd, Lichai (like him), Clark, Baker (could all be all solid, time yet), Anyone remember, Ray Walker, Paul Kerr, Mark Jones, Norton, Darren Bradley, Ritchie,...Maybe not. Weimann, Carruthers (good potential) maybe Albrighton give him another season, but have doubts. Been here before. I think we have over-rated our youth players though. Has McDonald Gone! Nice bloke but......... Next 5 days are going to be pivotal, regards to transfer market. ST in the Holte, if we dont change it around very sharpish we will all be visiting peterborough and barnsley next season. UTV.
  16. It's a worry that so many pubs round the ground are closing, or have closed The Rat Pan, Harriers, Britannia, etc... but I think the King Edward may be OK for a year or two yet. Don't know why it has to go anyway. I should imagine this scheme is going to take time, as much of the redevelopment will be dependent on Government funding; and finances are tight at the moment. I had heard about this plan as i used to work for the City Council in Planning & Regeneration. As for the Metro, down Lichfield Road? I've seen no news on this, but don't hold your breath. It hasn't made it from Snow Hill to Broad St, or even to New St yet. These have been in the plans for years. Somehow I don't think Star City is a top priority. Its a pity The Britannia cant be re-opened as a Pub, because it did have some decent fixtures and fittings, and besides The Swan & Mitre (where i drink) needs some competition.
  17. Oh Dear! There goes another five million quid. Thought he could have turned out half decent. File with Djemba-Djemba, Berson, Curcic, Lamptey, Fabio Ferraresi, Ivo Stas, Balaban.......etc, etc With our record on foreign imports compared to other top clubs i'm amazed we've managed to stay in the Premier League since day one, while throwing so much cash down the drain. We seem to fare better with Scandanavians / Dutch & Germans though. Its something that needs to be looked into.
  18. Renewing Tomorrow, i would have done whoever was in charge. Same seat since they rebuilt The Holte. Lambert, Di Matteo, or Poyet would do for me. Not sure about Martinez though. Must admit i'm not convinced in Mr Lerner & Mr Faulkner in getting the job done effectively either.
  19. It must be true Then ! If Brendan Rogers can turn down the bin dippers! But OGS hasnt turned us down. We move on then, no problem. Poyet, Lambert, anyone leftfield will do for me! Due to renew very soon. UTV. Keep the faith.
  20. Think Poyet is a very good shout, a gamble. but why not ! Would be nice to see some decent passing football. Lambert would be good in short term but is too much like M'oN I'm a bit wary of havng a fans 'choice; Thatrs how we ended up with Collymore. Would take either at moment though.
  21. Gus Poyet, a bit of a gamble, but we might see a bit of football... Not a McLeish hater, probably a nice chap, but out of his depth. Will be renewing whether he's here or not though.
  22. If Karl Henry is the answer... What was the question? A limited scuffler even the Wolves fans don't want. Hopefully just speculation. The only player worth considering from Wolves is Fletcher.
