  1. Agreed. He was great at first and could still be doing well for them if Rafa wasn’t destroying their squad and bombing out any flair players.
  2. Hard to say… I’d rather give the kids a chance in some ways but if Gerrard feels (for example) that Buendia and Bailey will be class long term but need this season to work through settling in/injuries, then a short-term high-profile deal might make sense. No idea if that is the plan of course. But I’ll trust the chap who played with him at this point.
  3. If we are paying the wages I bet there is no loan fee - they want him off the books, if we spunk a few million on wages for the next four months it will be offset by shipping out (eg) El Ghazi if we get a small transfer fee. Not that I particularly want El Ghazi to move. Taking on a salary like he has now in the longer term would be a bigger gamble / need a lot more thought.
  4. Yeah I came on here just now to say can anyone think of a higher profile signing than this… I can’t…
  5. Doubt the loan fee was anything like £5m when Napoli are paying £500,000.
  6. Well, as a comparison, when Jamie Vardy was 25 he scored four goals in his first Championship season and he has improved considerably
  7. It was just a joke - I assume when he said ‘best manager in the world’ he actually meant Tuchel.
  8. He was off today with covid mate, it was Beale and McAllister.
  9. Extreme example here but no Prem club stepped in for Salah when Chelsea binned him off.
  10. I think a couple of years from now he’ll be playing anywhere he wants to.
  11. Pretty sure City would have done it for Jesus tbf.
  12. I imagine the interviewer said “do you want to play European football?” and he answered “I think I can do it at Villa” - doubt he just randomly dropped in that sentence as a non sequitur.
  13. That got him a job at the end of the day
  14. Yeah agreed, he’s playing well (my MOTM last game) but he’s always been a decent squad player and I think that’s what he will likely continue to be. He wasn’t rubbish before and isn’t Kante now.
  15. I interpreted this as they are yet to trust themselves/believe that they can achieve the things hai team are telling them they can. Anyone who has been part of evolving/changing a work culture will know some buy in faster than others. Sometimes the people who take longer might be the biggest champions once they get there.
  16. I was thinking to myself again after the game today that (ironically enough given they are struggling) I love Leicester’s model… buy players, some on big money, but assume it will take a year for them to be up and running. As long as Buendia, Bailey etc are firing next season (and to be clear I think they’ll be firing well before then) then next summer’s signings go into that pipeline as well and can be eased in. That doesn’t work if you’re scrapping against relegation and need immediate results but hopefully that won’t be us again any time soon.
  17. I think this whole thing has been overblown. One of the journos cleared it up and said the story was basically he has a deal to the summer of 2023 and wants to break into the team before he signs an extension, but as there are 18 months to run no-one has an issue.
  18. Three straight games scoring from corners from the right - each with a different taker and a different scorer. Amazing. Young - Targett. Douglas Luiz - Watkins McGinn - Konsa
  19. Yep I thought exactly this and loved it.
  20. From behind the goal it definitely shifted it just enough to turn it in.
  21. Oh really? Apart from that one miss I thought he was absolutely class.
  22. Don’t mean to undermine your point because I agree with it, but on this specific piece I am 99% certain his header was going to hit the post - crucial touch from Konsa.
  23. Yeah when he leapt off the bench celebrating our winner last week I was thinking “urgh he’s trying to make it all about him and he’s not even on the pitch any more.”
