When 50 % of this season was duff results, it was simply too much of an ask. We know we cannot go up playing like we are, but results still are the main objective......we need a blend of the two. with another window, further time for gelling,a pre season of stability and a start that represents a serious assault......we have a good chance.

There is still a fair way to go.....the team is good in parts that's all. we do need stability, but this team still needs players with a different skill set. We need further additions in the summer, but maybe more quality than quantity. ......We at least need a winger who can undo teams.....and players who are comfortable with the ball. like I say, lots to do. not trying to be depressive, but this team is not ready for the lofty heights we are looking for (I think Steve knows that)....having said that a remarkable job, stopping the rot.

The problem can be us,spectators...........We are liable to over value talent and under value attitude and application........Fact is you need both. But usually talent gets the first reading........Application is usually nonchalantly expected.

I was close to a 19 year old player at villa who went on to do great things, in relative terms......I seen his persona close up Attitude and application is a very difficult thing to deal with.......There is an element of you either have it or you don't I fear, Jack will find a level of football that suits him as opposed to him finding a way to deal with the level of football that we all want to see him revel in. I hope i am wrong.

I don't think you have to know about high level football.......The subject of attitude and application and presides over all levels, so you will be familiar with it. I hope they can fix Jack, but like you ,am sceptical.

Just to reiterate one on my earlier posts......I think he needs some one one dedicated work to get his game merchantable. He is too young to write off.....I just hope we can get a pot off the potters wheel.

I sincerely hope you are right Mark. I think the reasons you put forward have validity and are generous in order to create a bit of mitigation for the lad. I have seen many 19 year olds come through our club and have made a major impact....as you rightly point out, in much more conducive surroundings....but I detect a difference in character, sadly. I think as a club we are desperate for Jack to mature and fulfill his potential. I hope he can do that.

Yeah, I know what you mean. However, the move for our goal against QPR was good. I do know what you mean, but I prefer to take the points and get the cosmetics right later.

I will give you Bournemouth last season......but the rest Including Newcastle are nothing special to me in terms of possession football, they rely mainly on RItchie, Shelvey and Gayle....hardly Expansive. I was talking in general, not specifically.

I don't think in the main a possession reliant game works in this division.....prem yes, but not this league. its more direct, more physical, and,more aerial reliant, and lends itself to a counter attacking game.....you have to have players who can deal with that. those same players may then struggle with skills that are necessary for the possession game.

I think he has found himself in a bit of a footballing wilderness.....like you, I do not see where he fits in, that to me is two fold......one is his inability to make a mark, when he does get a chance and the other is his seemingly inability to adapt an attitude that represents a fighting spirit. I actually think Aston Villa need a Jack Grealish we all thought we was going to get and at present he represents nothing like it.....its like the club has moved on and he is still stuck in that demise.....but if anyone at B6 can work with him one on one, to channel his talent in to a merchandisable end product,I would be delighted. We, at present are embarking on a style that mirrors "hard to beat"......Jack's play unfortunately is not commensurate with "hard to beat" Like the players of the past, he needs to get in the reserves and force the manager to play him.....that's how (imo) it should be done. We cannot afford to carry players, while we are trying to secure points. For far too long, we have been a club that has played players in first team, with a view of letting them play themselves back in to form.....I think it should be the other way around. Players should be forced in and forced out, through sheer form......thats what changes attitudes at football clubs.

I don't think you are wrong and still don't.....but the role he plays for us, he is the catalyst of the team. We have been without this kind if player for many moons, hence the label " soft under belly" Its working ........in terms of points.

What he is doing for us is fantastic.....whether to Aussie manager wants to play him the same way is another talking point. He hasn't got the legs to play a traditional midfield role or perhaps the passing skills. but DM Colossus.......He us our Spartacus.
