  1. Sadly, not for me. .......and I don't see him getting any better.
  2. If Norwich can play attractive football and win the possession stats, win more corners and win the plaudits for being the best team on the day. If they were in control of all that...... why didn't they win?
  3. There will come a time when that will be an important feature of our play.....important to stay in touch with our competitors.....but not yet, we have the important priority of winning and staying hard to beat. that important feature you mention will come with progress and rehabilitation of the side.
  4. I think that is a significant part of his appraisal......at Liverpool he hardly moved, such was Klopps frustration. Kodjia Is now our player and Benteke is not any more, happy memories yes. Its difficult to make a direct comparison.....but I am happy with our guy.
  5. imo The progress in him is tangible.....but its bit by bit, game by game.I think he'll be a good 'un.
  6. Good round up OBE Just a point....highlighted a confidence that when the opposition have chances (We'll MAKE them) they'll miss them, I think some credit for what the coaches have instilled in us of late, is in order. Its the oppositions job to convert their possession and opportunities and for us to make it difficult for them......I think we are now, doing that. This team will in time metamorphose in to what we want it to be......but in the meantime WIP
  7. When we went through that period where we was conceding in the last ten minutes of every game.....the style of football was not bad. I was beside myself......with that benevolent style of weak Lilly livered offering. We have just presided over some of the worst footballing periods of the history of this club. did you think the repair job was like "switching on a light switch" just buys some players and Bingo. What SB walked in to and what we have now in relation is remarkable......We have a long way to go......but Hemorrhaging has stopped. Its a big job, mate Patience, is a virtue.
  8. ..........have you been in the dressing room
  9. Irish bias.....are you serious......Have you seen the St Pats parade in Brum, every year. Like me there are legions and legions of Irish or Irish decent in this city. my old Pop was a Dublin man, who introduced me to the passion, in the 50's.....like so many Villa Fans with Irish in them. BOF if anything its the Welsh in Birmingham that would be the minority.....bless them.
  10. I think Dave, There will be a big shift of opinion in this lad come the seasons end. Not because folk were wrong in their assessment ( I understand they can only say what they see).....but I think his confidence/Development/Experience/ Settled surroundings will improve and all play a big part in showing the REAL keeper he is. He too has only been with us a short while.
  11. ......I'm liking this team, just by your description. We have had too many lightweights over the years that have turned out to be " (farts in a colander)
  12. In my opinion.....you are spot on. The defence individually is not great, which sounds paradoxical on the back of so many clean sheets and indeed it's not meant to sound ungrateful on the contrary i am very pleased......but your point highlighted, is what he has done and it had to be done.....its early days in the rebuild. In doing so, he has had to sacrifice a bit of the nicer side of the game and that has affected players further forward. equally JK has had to play "Lone wolf" and catch them on the counter......but its a start, until we get better.
  13. I think in some aspects of his game.....some aspects......He is better.
  14. I think he is on another level and he is getting better as he settles.....That goal against Russia was special......ordinary players don't score them. The problem is the fans need to come to terms with the style he is and embrace it.....He is essentially a Lone Wolf.
  15. I remember a goal like that against us......Les Ferdinand scored it for Newcastle, direct from the goal keepers kick. I was pissed off, the bar codes were delighted. So tonight, its my turn, to be delighted. and I am Well done Kodg and ably assisted by Sammy Boy.
  16. It was a fabulous result and on the back of a resilient run, thats building confidence nicely. There are no buts from me......simply because we are not the finished article by any stretch of the imagination. Steve Bruce and his coaches must be very proud of the miserly offerings his team are presenting to the opposition( I am).We are now making teams work for any sniffs they get Ron Saundersesque. Well done lads.
  17. not long ago when I checked......we couldn't buy a win at home( thats what I call embarrassing)......can't remember the stats something like 4 wins in 18 months or something like that. WIP.....thats what we are.
  18. Tell me " his nibs" is the captain......It has to be true. just for the pun.
  19. I agree with you and to some degree playing a little bit of devils advocate.......but, slowly, slowly, catch a monkey.......first things first. Confidence Build, priority no 1
  20. Performances do matter Terry, I quite agree.....but those performance have to include the defensive side of the game too, as you quite rightly highlight. I think as time progresses and confidence is restored to not only the team, but the club as a whole and players evolve from season to season, that will come. Right now, we have players who are good at some things and not necessarily good at others........but we had to start somewhere and we have IMO. We will build in to that team we all want us to be, some players will get better, some will go and the juggernaut roles on, getting better along the way. These Results we are presiding over, will help enormously in acheiving those better/more complete performances in the future. but at the moment, resilience, is the order of the day.
  21. To an extent it is Bruces way......but his first priority is to build confidence at a club that has been devoid of it in every corner for the past 7 years or so.He has always been at clubs that needed to play that way, due to theirs/his circumstances. It may well be we will evolve like Stoke has and introduce the eye catching football on the platform of resilience in due course. First things first.
  22. But what were they doing with all that possession and opportunity? does that not pose questions about them?
  23. Who knows.....he might change his mind in due course and say Kodjia is the best player he has managed.
