  1. Why? Did you say that about Kamara? Digne? Coutinho? I’d argue at least one or two are a bigger deal than he is and they came to us.
  2. Yep it’s all risk. He could turn out to be one of the best players in the world or he could be forgotten about in a couple of years and talked about in years to come as one of those kids we thought would make it but never did and we have a raft of those over my forty years. Yes he looks exceptional but many of them did down the years. We seem to have done everything we could contract wise, he’s had some game time. If he wants to stay great, if he doesn’t he doesn’t. Good luck to him! Let’s focus on people that want to be here, I hope that includes him, if not…ah well no probs! But no way should we forsake a key first team player for him. If the kid proves himself on the training pitch he’ll get game time just like Grealish did and just like JJ does.
  3. In a years time after a glorious season leading the line for Aston Villa
  4. Don’t ruin my fun! He’s already said he wants to stay in Europe.
  5. To be honest I thought that about Kamara, Digne and Coutinho but they are here. Not saying he would either but we never know individuals motivations. I’m also sure there are players that weren’t good enough that turned us down ie Rashica. So depends on the players motivation, perception of Villa, how we sell it to him, his other options and a number of other factors but to date we have gotten players recently that twelve months ago I wouldn’t have thought possible.
  6. Try looking at it on another screen, maybe it’s your picture settings on your device?
  7. Yep just you mate! Compare to the green ‘Ships Free’ tag on it, definitely grey grey! Not green grey!
  8. We still were 14th, we still only got 45 points, we were still poor in most areas of the pitch last season. To only add one guaranteed starter, in Kamara, to that mix is a little scary isn’t it? Carlos will fight it out with Konsa and Mings for a starting berth. I think the if and maybes in the last part but those are the fine margins that we also got some points. Over the course of the season it’s hard to argue we deserved any better than 14th. While 7th highest scorers, we know our strikers were poor last season, had many issues and not sure they fitted any system in the end. The midfielder as you say was our biggest issue but our defence had bumbling mistakes in them per game. Literally our season was saved because of 9 games in my head. The first six game under Gerrard which we flew, battled and got 12 points and we never saw that team again. Then that three game winning streak I think around Feb. Those 21 points in 9 games saved us because aside from the odd game like at Old Trafford we were poor all season.
  9. Interesting that arguably we only have currently a maximum on two new starters to the first eleven. Obviously it’s more than just a starting eleven with being a squad game. Back to the first point in that Kamara definitely comes straight into the first XI and Carlos should edge Konsa when fit for the right CB position but that’ll be a good contest. It means at least 8 (assuming we get another CM) will still be the inconsistent, 14th placed players from last season so Gerrard is definitely going to have to earn his coaching stripes because they didn’t really perform for him in the second half of last season.
  10. I think that is a given! Despite what some fans think, I only think Liverpool take him if he’s evolved into a top notch manager which will mean he’s dramatically improved Villa and would be leaving us in a much better place than we are now. Of course then we’ll be disappointed. I think the concern is what level of manager Gerrard is and what is his ceiling that he can evolve into because he’s still in very early times of his managerial career. This next season is going to be interesting seeing what he can do. To get the Liverpool job, he really can’t have any missteps over the next few years which is good for us on improving and pushing us. The question a lot of us is asking is does his managerial skills match his footballing ability? We hope so, we can see it in interviews, we can see it in influencing transfers but it’s on the pitch where we mostly care as fans and that’s been too early to answer. This season he needs to start answering that.

I think I agree with… I think it would be slightly taking the pee if instead of buying the lad, they brought a similar player and then wanted to loan him again….works for them but not us. Loan him out elsewhere to a club that haven’t likely built his hopes up about finding a new home for the last six months and for us, is getting a decent fee for him. I’m sure another club will want to loan him.

    U.S. Politics

Bannon now willing to testify publicly to JAN 6th committee after Trump waived privilege. Do these guys think the committee are stupid? No it won’t be public because Trump/Bannon want a public show, it’ll start private plus Bannon is just muddying the waters for his contempt charge trial up coming. Still laughing that Trump thinks he has privilege as well.

I assume they would like him as well but it’s about money. They aren’t going to spend big money (for them) on another striker whose very similar to the one they’ve just brought for big money. They need to spread their budget over several positions to try and stay up.

Yeah I hope so, the kid enjoyed a run in a team and being loved by those fans. I feel sorry that it looks like it won’t work out there because it worked. Hopefully it will at another Championship club like you say.
