  1. We’d need another striker as well then to get 60 points. We don’t take enough chances otherwise. We need to beat the xG occasionally to win games we shouldn’t, which could get us to the magical 60 number, I don’t think we have that.
  2. I think his finishing is poor generally. In more detail, if he doesn’t have to think about it he’s ok but give him any time to think and he’s really poor like the last game. I agree with your other paragraphs though.
  3. It’s poor finish by Ollie. Yes Meslier had to save it still but Ollie gave him the best chance to. Of all the better places to put it and he puts it there. Yes it happens but too often from Ollie.
  4. I still think Archer may go out on loan. The other two have great quality but I’m focusing on a goal scoring striker, those two can play their parts other ways. It’s down really to Danny and Ollie. I hope one of them can pick up the mantle this season but I’m still hoping Gerrard goes into the market for a striker.
  5. Haha funny you should mention….. Nah I don’t know, I’m sure the club have players in mind whether they go for them now or in the future. I just worry about our ability to be clinical.
  6. Quantity maybe but I worry whose going to be clinical with the chances we make. So we have quantity but do we have that difference maker in the striker position? Unsure
  7. Ahhh I see, I was looking at the dude trying to figure out what was wrong
  8. The big clubs are trying in the cups more now, I’m not convinced there is more of a chance of a cup that a good place in the league. We seem to get horrible draws and then one slip in a game and you are out of the cup. We are prone to slips, at least in the league you can have a slip and bounce back. Our focus has to be the league in my opinion and we take the cups as they come and with their luck, and try our best but league as the priority. Don’t get me wrong I’d love to win a cup but the big couple of teams really dominate them these days.

    U.S. Politics

I agree, I know a fair few Villa fans that might drop slightly onto the right hand side of that grid and many that would be on the left side. I agree the off topic is mainly left wing and an echo chamber on certain views as you pointed out one that I was on the wrong side of discussions according to many. I think I might try the test, I guess I’m probably close to centre, maybe slightly left of it based on the conversations I’ve had in off topic over the years.
  10. We said that last close season and that went south very quickly and never recovered. Anyway it’s not about being unhappy it’s about wanting to take this opportunity we have at hand and not let it slip….there is a difference I’m you can see that.
  11. I just worry the longer we are out of the European places, the longer our revenue stagnates from no European money or commercial other revenue from that and thus we aren’t able to add the quality we need to improve because we can’t increase costs/salaries more in later transfer windows. We are so close as you point out that a bit more outlay now may make a key difference. Just my opinion though!
  12. Not convinced given the likely options Kamara had.
  13. Or we’ve only really added definitely one upgrade to the first XI in Kamara with Carlos battling out with Konsa for the RCB position for a team that has been playing poorly for 18 months and a new relatively inexperienced manager at the helm and the team finished with 45 points and 14th last season. The reality is that it’s somewhere in between your analysis and the devils advocate I put above. I think the Kamara signing was amazing, the Carlos signing looks really good and locking down Coutinho is great. Those are great signings but given the expectation of the owners I can’t put this down as a great window yet. Think we still need another couple of quality additions.
  14. Because even by your analysis almost 20% of the team ie McGinn and Watkins probably need upgrading just to be attempting to challenge for European placed team even if we didn’t get it. More than that a third of our midfielders and our main striker you think may need upgrading, that’s significant. Our midfield was a major probably last season and all our eggs are in the basket on a 22 year old very talented, new to the country, league and language. I worry for Kamara because the pressure is huge to hit the ground running otherwise fans most likely will be on his back rather than allowing a settle in period.
  15. I agree, also why are they coming here foregoing CL football for them to be the only signings for a 14th place team. There has to be more coming in. Imagine sitting in Kamara’s sitting room saying we finished 14th, Gerrard says “come play for me, we finished 14th, I’m signing you, Carlos and a back up LB, ignore those CL offerings…”. Kamara says “yes” to that? Hardly!
  16. Never said anything about the transfer window, I asked what the squad was good enough to achieve? Things could all go our way and we do great but seasons generally have bumps along the way so with this squad my question still stands. I think we are just about pushing for a top ten position if things go our way. I’m not sure that is the expectation of the owners.
  17. So we waste a season because we can’t get an 8 in because we have players that will never get minutes are sitting there that we can’t get rid of?
  18. Good squad for what though? At the moment we are struggling for a top ten place.
  19. What’s worse is that all of them wear equivalent of children’s sizes. How is everybody a medium, I haven’t been a medium since I was a mid teenager my brother is 5ft 5 so I understand him being a medium but I’m just over 6ft so no chance!
  20. I’ve been here for forty odd years and probably will be for another forty years, the club will always have my support like they did with my mom, her father and before that, it’s our blood. We are very patient. I still will question along the way. I don’t think the last season they gave 100% on the pitch which is a major part of my issue. I can almost forgive the season ticket price increases and transport issues but the performances on the pitch under both managers has been poor last season. I believe in the owners project, the off the field stuff but the on the field has been poor. I’m not talking about winning or league position, I’m just sick of walking away from Villa Park disappointed at the performance just been delivered that’s why I questioned whether to renew my season ticket. Not because we lost but I don’t think we were getting back from the players and the coaching team what we were giving with full houses week after week and seeing as Gerrard meant to make a difference, he wasn’t. It’s early days but I didn’t see anything to give me hope hence why I questioned whether to renew but as a Villa fan I always have blind hope so renewed.
