  1. Ruined her day already with going to London
  2. She didn’t write it but like the rest of us was probably laughing out loud
  3. If wanting to finish better than 14th is entitled with the players we have, the infrastructure at the club, the great youth system and the brilliant owners we have then yes I am entitled.
  4. Just saw this, and my mind thought it’ll be Jack in 30 years time
  5. Fair enough! The forum will always impact people differently, I know myself have long spells of inactivity on here like a year or so for similar reasons but I’m in discussion mode for the last year on here whereas you are finding it boring. Roles will change likely over the coming years depending on the topic. Hopefully next time you are on we’ll be discussing positives things together.
  6. What is with the font and colouring? Feel like I’m strobing out with the colours and reading Shakespeares original documents with the font. Plus words are split on different lines.
  7. It’s a forum, people discuss how players, managers, whoever are doing all the time. If you think it’s embarrassing why are you on here? Or do you only want positivity until a set date. Maybe but lumping everybody in that category that have some concerns is disingenuous to the argument you are discussing. Managers rarely get that length before assessing. If Gerrard starts poorly he may be gone before Christmas, it’s the fact of football that managers on the whole live and die by results. The three or four windows you mention was true a decade or more ago but isn’t true in the last decade. Only the successful or acceptable survive these days and survive the sack.. Apart from a few, the overwhelming majority don’t want him sacked/are not thinking about him being sacked. What is concerning is that we aren’t seeing an improvement in the players we have who will form the bulk of the squad for next season. We seem to be struggling with style, tactics and coaching and you don’t expect him to have got it right yet as you say but you’d expect some signs of improvement…I would argue we aren’t. This a forum, we discuss the current situation, if you find negativity or concerns embarrassing then I’m surprised you are on a forum especially when even the manager said last season wasn’t good enough that 14th wasn’t acceptable. He’s the manager and he’s in charge, so his job to fix it and he ultimately bares responsibility. He obviously gets time, the club are investing in him but next season he needs to deliver. If he starts poorly I’d be surprised if he lasts to your end of season time to review him. I doubt that will happen and I’m hopeful he will be a success but I will moan when it’s bad and laud when it’s great….that’s football!
  8. One of my closet friends wife was killed by a drunk driver smashing into her car so I do think that drink driving is one of the worst things a footballer is likely to do but I get the overall sentiment of what you are trying to say about Jacks antics and I agree mostly.
  9. Ok whatever! I’ve gone past caring, you just have a bizarre way of looking at it but you probably feel the same about my view. Enjoy your day!
  10. So we got him before we had to pay more for him is all that means then. It’s bizarre you are arguing with me trying to prove Brighton are doing better deals on kids than Villa which is the whole point of my argument and response to the original posters comment. Given all we have done on teenage prospects over the last couple of years, to argue against that and in favour of Brighton is bizarre but each to their own.
  11. so if you don’t have senior caps you can’t compare Archer doesn’t have senior caps but I wouldn’t swap Archer for this kid. JJ doesn’t have senior caps but I wouldn’t swap for this kid….
  12. All fair points. Doesn't look good for his image though. I personally don’t like cheaters and while he may never have done it he keep putting himself in a position that he looks like he’s doing it and for somebody that has a brand like him, it’s not the wisest move. With all his money and options, I’m surprised his agent/publicist hasn’t whispered in his ear to do things a little more discreetly or not give off the impression he’s giving. I do like your devils advocate though, I would just say going to Vegas with 8 lad mates on the lash and then leaving a place very drunk with a girl, I hardly think it’s platonic. I remember my 20’s very well and that situation never was based on a platonic relationship and I doubt Jack is different. As you say though, it’s none of my business.
  13. Just created a reputation for himself so an easy target plus the whole cheating thing again potentially. I think he also does it so publicly.
  14. I agree with the above. I think my point originally was that the two kids are comparable and that for the money we spent compared to Brighton I think we have a better deal. Even if you think we don’t (not saying you do). The original poster said he wants the Villa to deals like Brighton, my reply was that are kinda are but I think better, less risk, less cost but still with massive potential but because he isn’t a cost of X millions and from a South American League it doesn’t look as sexy.
  15. You’ve provided a very good assessment, the problem though it that the only thing that does matter is results though for a manager. It’s what he’s judged on more than anything else. It’s the reality of football and life that if a manager doesn’t get results he’s sacked…it doesn’t matter all the other good stuff or bad stuff for that matter, it’s about results. The buck stops with the manager, it’s got more and more centric around this as the money in the game has got bigger and bigger. I don’t think people misunderstand, I think people don’t care about the other stuff, it’s all about on the pitch and the results from it. The outcome of that lands at the managers door.
  16. Oh I agree but it’s also the same for young foreign players coming to these shores and never making the grade because they can’t settle, can’t play the style or pace blah blah. Our risk looks like £350k, Brightons risk looks like £9m. Either, both or neither could make it, at this stage it’s hard to judge on either. Both have massive potential but ours is much less risk and less outlay.
  17. and that kid would’ve been 17 at the start of last season and you don’t think Rory Wilson banging in 49 goals at 16 at Youth in Scotland if had been in Paraguay instead doing the same thing would be getting games there given the league is lower quality? Of course he would. That’s why they can be compared, not much age difference, massive talent but we got ours very cheap whereas Brighton didn’t.
  18. Are you kidding? An 18 year old Paraguayan kid vs a16 year old Scottish kid but it’s not the same. Can’t see that the Paraguayan league is that good after doing some research on it just Or do you want to compare him to 20 year old Cameron Archer? Essentially we’ve just brought a young Scottish kid for peanuts with massive potential and they’ve spent a bundle on a South American kid with massive potential, certainly scope there for comparison. Odds are we have the better deal.
  19. But on the same note, how will that translate to English football, will he settle in this country whereas Rory smashing the scoring charts and from the UK. I think the risk profile is far less
