  1. The club has done excellently this window - credit due to all the people involved.
  2. He might be in Football Manager terms but not in real life - he operates all over the midfield, all you need to do is look at some of his passing maps - such as here: http://Premier League.squawka.com/bournemouth-vs-aston-villa/08-08-2015/english-barclays-premier-league/matches
  3. Westwood doesn't just sit in front of the back 4 and rarely venture out of our half though - nor does Schneiderlin simply sit back the whole time either. They'll cross paths a lot more than that and in a 50-50 situation, you're going to favour Schneiderlin every time. Even if Westwood just turns around and plays it back, Schneiderlin has done his job because he's forced Ash's hand.
  4. Looks that way, which is certainly a shame.
  5. Richards at RB, Clark and Fonte at CB. Two Birds. One Stone. That would work.
  6. He also needs to toughen up a bit too - Petrov and Barry were more solid than him and were much harder to dispossess. Maybe Gana can give him a few pointers to help that part of his game.
  7. Given the way we've been doing business, I very much doubt we'd spring for 8mil for a 31 year old (within reason).
  8. Depends how much, really. At 31 he's got a couple of decent seasons in his pomp left, I'd imagine - so 5mil or so wouldn't be outrageous.
  9. serious? If one guy plays deep playmaker. And the other plays defensive midfielder. They dont usually mark/come into contact with each other that much. Nowhere enough to class it as bully. It will be depay/rooney who will be closing down westwood (usually) I wouldn't be surprised to see LVG send him further forward to play a more physical game against Westwood.
  10. I think Sanchez is a must against Man Utd. Schneiderlin would bully Westwood.
  11. Tonev and N'Zogbia don't deserve second chances. They deserve to be cast into the fiery pits of Small Heath.
  12. RE: the DM, depends entirely on who we're playing.
  13. None of the front three who started shone. I think they were just all too similar really, gave us only one dimension and they didn't really know what to do with themselves. Not going to judge him for a while.
  14. He's OK. Can't say I'm fussed either way about the contract renewal.
  15. We could do better in every position in the side, doesn't mean that we don't have decent players already. We're not going to outgrow Guzan any time soon.
  16. I think taking the Bournemouth game as an example is a but of a false impression - they're a championship team still, more or less. Friday against United will tell us a lot more; hopefully they'll do well.
  17. It's as if he should be getting ten assists a season or something. Boggles the mind.
  18. People have been carping on about it for a while though, certainly before the Bournemouth game.
  19. This game will be much more of a test than Championship level Bournemouth and their strikers. IMO Richards should be told to man-mark Rooney, so he has a focus - I really hope he doesn't make any silly runs up the pitch either. Poor positioning will be punished against Man U.
  20. We should be planning our tactics for this game around Gestede - we need him on and bullying their CBs as much as possible.
