  1. Yes, I thought the fee was below £20m (somewhere between that and £15m). Not bad for an Italian international.
  2. They have only picked up 1 point from their last 7 games, 2 wins from their last 7 is a big ask for them. Perhaps this will be their year after all?
  3. A new Villa bus from New Street to Birmingham starts today for fans. £5 return. https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2024/march/28/New-express-city-centre-shuttle-buses-set-to-launch-on-matchdays/?sc_src=email_5709204&sc_lid=571397305&sc_uid=teJc9pr3Mp&sc_llid=7601&sc_customer=ddc71e91-8f12-403d-b848-bd596f230a31
  4. That's really good news. £5 return from today New Street Station to Villa Park. What's not to like?
  5. Sad news again. Such a nice bloke, great company and what a player! He's a fighter though and I wish him well in this battle. My thoughts are with him and with his family, as they continue to face this cruel illness. Like many of us, I lost a member of my family to this, but my Nan fought it for a couple of years and had her moments of clarity even near the end. Keep fighting Gordon, we are all thinking of you and wishing you the very best.
  6. A "mate" has shown me what the new "Small Heath Stadium" will look like when it is completed, they are confident of filling it every week:
  7. Photo (1) taken in 1975 (against Manchester United) showing "The Grader" and the right hand side of the old Witton End, as well as the old club buildings that were demolished a few years later. The second shows Ron after our LCF semi final win against Chester, alongside our 1957 FA Cup winning manager Eric Houghton and seated, Chris Nichol and a bit of the head of Ian Ross between someone who agreed to have a stand named after him (love to see those two ex-managers together):
  8. Agreed. He is one of our own though and if he really wants to show that, and finish his career winning things at his club, then a move back home should appeal more than those concessions. His Citeh move did give him several medals, a healthy bank balance and consistent England call-ups. His England squad place is now open to question again though and future medals will be won as a squad player, rather than as a regular first team starter. I wouldn't be shocked if Jack is now looking at us and thinking:
  9. Would he want to come? Could we afford him thanks to FFP? Would UE want him? I suspect that all three answers may well be: I suspect that he will return in a few years, like Ashley did though.
  10. Gives a whole new meaning to those old chants of "The left side" & "The right side", doesn't it? Trust the Noses to get all political about it, but I guess the Peaky Blinders were associated with Oswald Mossley at one point...
  11. Murillo would be worth looking at if Forest do have a "fire sale", but I guess FFP would prevent us buying anyone from them, even if they did.
  12. I see that not everyone is giving Rowett a warm welcome on KRO, Albert has said: "Fcukin hate the cnut rowett, the aston loving cock.... having said that, i won't behave like some of the tools did that abused rooney at his very first home game. I wish it wasn't him coming in but needs must." I hope Agent Gary reads those subtle words of encouragement, before he takes them down to Division One!
  13. He's only 182 cms tall, so his height doesn't swing it for me either.
  14. I think that Moyes is doing a splendid job. The fact that West Ham fans aren't happy is an absolute bonus. West Ham fans seem to think that it is still the 1960s, they have a couple of decent players, but they haven't got Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst anymore, or even Trevor Brooking, to be able to play "the West Ham Way". There's every chance that a new manager will have them back as the "yoyo club" that they have been more recently (prior to Moyes). Next time we visit, will bring all of our first team with us and give them another good hiding.
  15. The subs made the difference! Cash blocked a potential winner, Zaniolo scored one and Diaby got us on the front foot. I would have taken this vital point before the game and we got it. Two “goals” correctly disallowed by VAR (eventually), 12 additional "Fergie Time" minutes (where did the ref get that?) and 70% possession, but the final result won't be welcomed everywhere!
  16. Started well, but let West Ham into it and now we have a mountain to climb. There is a case to be made for substituting Langlet and going to a back 4, as well as bringing off Duran and Rogers, who aren't doing a lot.
  17. "On balance, I think West Ham deserve that" I can't stand that woman!
