If Lambert can unearth gems like Westwood and Benteke I'm not really arsed.

I'd play him more advanced, right side attack. He's playing too deep in midfield to hurt anybody, I don't think it's his game.

I would have loved Diame, but we never got him, then again I'd never heard of Westwood - what a find. Take the rough with the smooth I guess.

Holman has demonstrated better technique in his shooting and a sharper mind for a killer pass. I think he runs himself into the ground too quickly.

Good goal today but he started looking tired in the second half. But on the whole I think he does what Ireland was meant to do much better i.e creating chances, shooting, being direct, pressing the opposition.

His finishing seems a little less accomplished with his feet, if he can improve that he's the complete package, otherwise he's just another big man up front - good player but nothing more.

His natural position doesn't exist, we're not using wingers anymore. He must adapt to a wide striker role or attackig midfield role. He's a good player though that ^ injuries and poor form are affecting him badly at the moment.

I have to say Holman's vision for a forward pass is very good. He's picked the right pass before he's even received the ball.

Yeah, I'm happy with him, I like his attitude, he has age on his side to iron out the rough edges.

I think his defending is ropey at times to be honest.

I don't think just surviving year on year is the key, or the plan. We had a party but stopped a long time before the liver became too damaged, to use your ropey analogy. We can carry on and drink moderately within our means, and fans can moan about not spending enough, and will (sometimes the same fans who moan about how we once spent too much, which I find puzzling). But anyway this is the course we are now on and I think we have enough resources to push for a top 7 spot maybe higher (that's the managers job), the club will be financially sound. If top 7 doesn't get your motor running, unfortunately the reality of the league we are currently playing in is that the gap between the top 5 or so and the rest is bigger than ever, as it's more about money than ever. Which incidentally, is why I think comparisons with most of the Doug era are a bit moot.
