  1. Spurs was always the weakest link, if we can't win against him we would likely not be getting into Europe in first place.
  2. Cause refs get it wrong half the time....like what. That's the entire point of this rule..
  3. He is absolutely not. The entire point not flagging it too early is for the chance to play out. If they flag too early, then the chance doesn't get developed at all...
  4. I've read Watford has obligation to buy him for 15 million quid if they promote, afaik it was in Athletic article. Is that true? Cause we should be cheering for Watford big times then.
  5. Here is Egyptian Al-Ahly fan giving more info about ZED. It's basically a political tool it seems mostly. actually Zed is a really messy and complicated thing. it's not made up. they're co-owned by one of the Sawiris guys who also happens to be a part owner of aston villa so I was expecting this to happen. they started their club right after the pandemic (~2021) and it's in the second division, but a good amount of the young players they have are failed nepotism babies that are trying for a second shot & hoping for a transfer to one of the bigger clubs (ahly, zamalek, pyramids, future). this whole thing started when the Sawiris people bought a big plot of land in cairo and turned it into a whole mix of things, like it's a lot of overpriced apartment buildings & gated villas, while also having a business park & a big leisure space where people would celebrate stuff like christmas, easter, eid, ramadan, etc. one of the guys in charge of Zed's football team is Seif Zaher, who basically runs the media in egyptian football (but not many people pay attention to him because we mainly watch bein sports) and this is kind of a big deal because it means Sawiris gave him so much power when everyone around him is appointed by the government/military. Sisi & his buddies are close to the Sawirises and to them this is a really good opportunity. Our second division is divided into 3 groups and each group gets 1 promotion spot. in their group, Zed is currently 1st place and they're ahead by 1 point. they can get promoted this year but it won't be easy. they want to be seen as a real football club but they're just not taken seriously like the others. no matter how much funding they have they just won't get close to competing with ahly or zamalek. ahly's wage bill is close to ~650 million egyptian pounds per year, and these figures are before the recent inflation that happened this month. i'd be surprised if Zed produce anyone good enough for aston villa to take because corruption runs like crazy in egyptian academies no matter what club it is. all the coaches are severely underpaid so they resort to taking bribes from parents who want their kids to become football players no matter what. this is one of the reasons why our national team will struggle massively in the next few years. our lack of good academy players is why we resort to scouting maghrebi players. basically Zed want to be a football club and have a billionaire pump money into them but they didn't want to be like pyramids. pyramids were bought by one of mohamed bin salman's best friends and they threw money at all of ahly and zamalek's best players to create their own flashy team, it ruined our market and it's made it so overinflated now. after pyramids' saudi owner came in and ruined our league and transfer market, the government came up with some new policies, so this is why Zed went down this route. we don't have any other corporate-owned clubs in egypt. the two big ones are fan-owned, pyramids is private-owned, and the other big one, future, is owned by the military. the majority of the other clubs are fan owned. zed is the only corporate-owned club we have.
  6. One time appearance in CL is meaningless, look at Leicester. And if Newcastle will get unlimited backing from Saudi state then only City can compete with them over coming decade anyway.
  7. If United win Europa League but finish outside of Top 4. We're cheering for United to shit the bed in league but keep winning in Europe
  8. Honestly I may be in the minority but I really do not care if we sign him today or look for him or different options in the summer. This season is pretty much finished, no cups to play for, team easily good enough to finish between 7-12th place, but also far behind Top 6 to really realistically challenge, I don't think he'd be the difference either way immediately.
  9. Hopefully we can finagle some Turkish club to pay 10 million for him
  10. Sooner we get rid of Traore and Trezeguet the better
  11. Traore has big Barkley vibes. All the natural talent but just too dumb for this level
  12. Buendia lowkey super annoying. Reminds me of dudes playing footie that always complain even though most of their time its their own errors
  13. Great so just league games for few months now. Emi Martinez had to be rested for those
  14. Play the entire starting team. This is the actually only way we can get in Europe this year. Top 6 over entire season is way harder to achieve than winning the cup. We got to finals twice with absolutely dogshit teams.
  15. Anyone expecting us to achieve Bucks success is delusional to the umpteen degree. We had our 'drafted' Giannis in Jack. But you simply cant match financial status of the Top 6. Bucks can spend same amount as Lakers or Knicks. We can't compete with City or Chelsea.
  16. When you realize the employees in football how almost more power then the clubs themselves.
  17. How long before he gets the Keinan Davis treatment 72 matches 3 goals ''great talent'' ''bring him on''
  18. Emi just established himself as first team keeper and Buendia might be seeing chance to break into the team. Quite obvious they're going.
  19. Chelsea got Spurs and City games sandwiched between this. Definitely gonna play weaker side, just depends how seriously we take it.
  20. Mate we literally bought Buendia, the best player from a team that just promoted to Premier League. Bit hypocritical innit. We are hardly better than City... Poaching entire WBA academy etc. This is how football is, the hierarchy is set in stone and you need state sponsored oil money to change the status quo. Leicester have given people hope though.
  21. Except when you sign new deals and promise the player outright to listen to offers above specific amounts. It's very clear Grealish signed last year deal with agreement he could go if certain offers matched our valuation..
  22. We need to play him more then cause xG evens outs across the season!
  23. I know lots of people like Traore enough but I still don't understand why we pursued him over Benrahma. The only mistake in our impeccable transfer window. Gotta feel for Watkings, had no help but was fighting like crazy. It's just nice to have players that give a ****. We didn't play well, but I still enjoyed seeing few individual performances.
