  1. I very specifically want us to sign Henri Lansbury. He's been one of the best midfielders in the championship for years and even currently we're a step up from Forest. I think if we're looking at bringing in loan players from the Prem then any of the guys omitted from the 25 man squads would make sense. Benalouane (sp) from Leicester would be an ambitious but not too unrealistic option for CB cover
  2. RT @GaryLineker: The treatment by some towards these young refugees is hideously racist and utterly heartless. What's happening to our coun…

  3. They updated the ratings a week or 2 back if you download latest squads. Richards down to 75, Gabby down to 71, Kozak down to 72. Think. Baker dropped to 71 too? I do find it frustrating that our 2 best CB's on the game are Richards and Elphick
  4. RT @retsub12: who thinks changing the dugouts has made a difference?? #fightlikelions

  5. Adomah has been the epitome of below average during his time at Villa so far. I'm not writing him off, I actually think he'll be a good player for us, but right now all he has shown is glimpses of his potential. For someone who's played in this league +40 times for 6 seasons in a row, you'd expect him to hit the ground running.
  6. I hope he knows another natural wide player he wants to recommend to our scouts then! Someone better than him on the other side would do very nicely
  7. He was almost certainly playing central midfield, possibly CAM, for the entire game. Half the time when we got our shape back he was the nearest player to Gestede.
  8. I don't think we should get carried away he's still got a mistake in him and his distribution needs a lot of work. However, he's definitely good enough for this level and with time and experience he can only push on and become better and more assured. I don't want him replaced at all, but he's not a world beater yet. Similar, but on a different level, to De Gea in his first season at Man Utd. Obvious potential but there's gonna be a few major errors before he gets that consistency.
  9. It's been said before so I'm just repeating the sentiment but I think Chester has looked assured and calm in defence, and has shown good distribution too, which we have had neither of in years. I prefer him much more to Elphick who's disappointed me and I think Chester plays better with Baker alongside, it gives us much more balance in defence. Hope Bruce sticks with them and Baker avoids a head injury and they can form a solid partnership
  10. Gollini Richards - Chester - Baker - Amavi Bacuna - Gardner - McCormack Adomah -- Kodjia -- Ayew
  11. His reaction when we won, running over to the away support after and throwing his gloves, shorts, anything into the stands was brilliant. He's clearly passionate.
  12. I find it odd that a lot of people against this appointment seem to base their argument on hypothetical situations where several things have to fall into place for it to happen. He's here to get us promoted, it's as simple as that. He's one of the most proven, successful managers we've had in at least a decade, maybe more considering the position we're in, and I don't think it's worth considering all the ifs and buts of this appointment until they actually happen. Things change in football day to day so there's no point talking about what might happen if we get promoted next year and he doesn't do well in the Prem
  13. I have no idea why he would have been there but I'd put money on it being him, although I remember reading he was in China? And he'd come back to finalise manager selection
  14. Think I've just seen him in Derby, does anyone know if he's in the country?
  15. Eyebrows would be raised at someone like Wagner taking a step down the league to take us on. If a premier league manager took a step down to manage us, they'd be the laughing stock of the country before they'd put pen to paper
  16. You could pick any page of the last 400 or so about this player and they would all say pretty much the same thing every time. It's crazy that the fans are still so split on him after all this time.
  17. hearing that Brian McDermott is in line to come in, with Nigel Gibbs agreeing to follow him.... Obviously not my choice but i'd get behind them if appointed
  18. Give the job to Gabby and then we can sack him when it all goes wrong, that way he won't survive another manager. Maybe make Richards assistant?
  19. After this investigation is over, Stoke will have sacked Hughes, say by start of November. If we're miles off where we should be by then, I'd be okay with us sacking Di Matteo and going for Hughes before someone else does. Edit: however, lots of ifs and buts before it comes to that and i expect it won't
  20. And they say football fans are fickle....
  21. RDM is the best man for the job. He's got a record of doing well in the lower leagues. He's got a good coaching team behind him and a squad of championship experience to pick from. I think Xia should wait a while longer before pulling the trigger. If it continues like this, at least wait until someone worthwhile chasing becomes available. No one currently available is good enough to manage us in the premier league I'd say. Our best option at this point I think is McCarthy. It's simply not worth sacking the current manager to chase him. I'd sooner choose a random NBA team and follow them instead of Villa, than watch a Villa side managed by Sam Allardyce or Steve Bruce
  22. I'm also going and looking forward to it (genuinely) Last time I went to a Saturday game was Rotherham, so i fully expect them to put on a good performance despite the last 8 games suggesting otherwise
