  1. My go-to excuse is the dodgy geezer at the bar must have spiked it for a laugh.
  2. RT @AlexBruce84: Great day yesterday with the family! https://t.co/HMJJLsE28h

  3. I wouldn't be devastated if we sold him, I think if someone was chasing him and offered good money he could go. But to actively look to sell him is madness. He may show ability in fits and starts but that's because he's played in every position possible up front this season under two very different managers. He's still our most gifted footballer at the club, just build the team round him and kodjia and get the most from them and you're onto a winner after ACON
  4. RT @JackGrealish1: @DailyStar_Sport @davearmitage7 no I did not?

  5. Gollini Iorfa - Baker - Chester - Amavi Jedinak - Lansbury Adomah - Grealish - Ayew Kodjia Subs: McGregor, Bacuna, Elphick, Tshibola, Maddison, McCormack, Gestede Don't think we need to rip the team apart, we had a bad start and we've recovered, I think we'll be in the play offs come may now. We have players to move on eventually and there are a couple that will hopefully disappear in January but if we start getting rid of anyone that hasn't shown premier league quality then the door out the club will keep rotating. Iorfa is a great young RB who will be premier league quality and is good enough for where we are. He will grow with us. Lansbury has been a standout creative goalscoring midfielder in this league for years, he will dramatically increase our chances of promotion if we do everything to sign him. McGregor is someone who Bruce has worked with and a very experienced keeper who would instill confidence in the back line and help with Gollini's development, get him out the limelight if he has a couple of stinkers. Madison is my wildcard, Peterborough left mid, been doing very well this season and I think could easily make the step up, especially as a squad player. I'd happily swap him for Alan Judge though.
  6. I said I picked the side based on current form and age Would also happily have Davis somewhere in that midfield but it's hard to find room for him
  7. Interestingly enough, I set up a league this year with friends on FPL where we could only pick players who used to play for our respective teams at the start of the season. As the only Villa fan, I'm comfortably ahead in that league. If you're saying in their prime then the team picks itself imo, but if you're saying based on current form and age then I'd go: Guzan Walker Cahill Davies Young Gana Barry Milner Downing Albrighton Benteke
  8. Playing at Bristol City last season I think really helped him improve as a footballer, but I still don't see him as Prem quality. Time will tell if and when we get promoted whether he can still get in the side and look convincing. Lots of questions surrounding his ability as a top defender, or even an all-rounder. But for me he's one of the first names on the team sheet this season and one of the last players we need to replace and that's all we need to know at this stage.
  9. RT @retsub12: can we fill Villa Park on Boxing day? Upper Trinity open and it would feel special #fightlikelions

  10. Someone call the hyperbole police, this page is getting overrun.
  11. Possibly the first realistic target on the last page of speculation. Apart from McGregor. And I wouldn't want him anyway haha
  12. To a lesser degree I feel like McCormack is being given the "out of the picture" treatment. When a player is on the periphery, he suddenly becomes the answer. I only say that because of some of the things I've read online since the Blackburn game where people are taking any one of Grealish, Ayew or Adomah out of the side in order to fit him into it. I think the reality is that Ayew is our best player, not McCormack, so if we're carrying someone I'd rather it was him. The other two are playing well and don't deserve to be taken out the team. I think McCormack has shown over many seasons that he's a very good at this level. Unfortunately (and this isn't new for AVFC) he's not showing the same form he showed at other clubs with us. He's also suddenly not the star of the team, he's not the captain. I think that not being in the spotlight has played a part. maybe the pressure and expectation brings out the best of him, when you have players all around you who can provide the goals and create for the team just as well, you won't stand out and won't drive the team on and drag them through a match when they don't need that. I hope he kicks on and proves to be a vital part of the team, but I don't want him walking into this side. He needs to come into the right formation in the right game for him to affect in my opinion. Until then I'm happy for him to stay on the bench.
  13. Konstantopoulos at Middlesbrough McGregor at Hull (not playing and signed by Bruce I believe) Given?? Just 3 keepers I thought of that aren't playing at their current clubs and would add competition to our goalkeeping area and help Gollini's development. As well as he is playing, and as much as I want him to do well and be our number 1 for years to come, I think we are weak in the keeping department and Bunn should be moved on to allow a stronger second option. If there is a dramatic drop of form, I'd rather we had a capable keeper as back up to come in and take the heat off him for a few weeks instead of leaving him out there week after week in the limelight like the start of this season
  14. I've actually been impressed with his tackling every time I've seen him play this season, I can't remember a game I watched where he mistimed a tackle. Didn't expect it of him, but if he's playing on the same side of the pitch as an Amavi type of full back then that's going to be an invaluable attribute. Disclaimer: haven't watched every game this season so if he's made a couple of horror challenges then I just didn't see them
  15. that's a crazy comparison. Suliman is making mistakes for the Cheltenham reserve side, not in the Champions League and Premier League. He also cannot get a game. I hope he kicks on and manages to hold down a starting spot in that team but at the moment it's not looking likely
  16. Remember reading that he could be back by March somewhere but that's a vague and sketchy memory
  17. He's forced his way back into the side, along with Mason at RB, and it looks like neither of them are giving up their starting spots anytime soon as the team have got back to winning ways recently with them in the side. http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/doncaster-rovers/doncaster-rovers-riccardo-calder-determined-to-take-his-chance-1-8224203
  18. Bit disappointed for him, was dropped from the bench and can't seem to get onto the pitch anymore. This is a team that only named 6 subs a few weeks back because they didn't have enough players, so if you can't make their bench then something is wrong.
  19. According to Swindon's ticket department, Sherwood is the manager, sent out texts telling fans to come along to watch Sherwood's first game in charge of the team. All a bit of a mess.
  20. He's only 19 and is still developing, he's not got much chance of displacing Amavi in the lineup and it wouldn't be too fair to drop Cissokho of the bench for a bloke with 0 experience. I would imagine we won't see him this year at all but I don't think that'll point to him being a write off
  21. I was pointing towards the fact he was barely picked for those 3 teams. I appreciate i didn't word it well though. Pretty sure Palace had him on loan for a season and allowed him to leave early so he could go on loan somewhere else? Doesn't suggest they thought much of him. When you're below Campbell in the pecking order then something's not going right for you. I understand that his goals to games ratio was similar to Kodjia, but Kodjia had a very average midfield supplying him at the lower end of the championship. Middlesbrough's midfield supplying Bamford was fantastic. Good goals to games ratio, but most people spearheading that team should be hitting that ratio without much problem at all, that's why I describe it as average.
  22. I think signing him would be a backwards step, and we've made enough of those over the last 6 years, we should be looking forward from now on
  23. RT @EFL: BREAKING: @Official_STFC have named Tim Sherwood as their new Director of Football. #STFC https://t.co/KWPTlQaJfY

  24. DOF at Swindon? How is this the most bizarre news story I've heard this week?
