  1. I don't mean to pick on you but for everyone in the thread on a downer, it definitely is looking great. We're above where any reasonable person would have expected us to be at the start of the season. Have a coke and a smile.
  2. Thought Villa would dominate after signing Collymore. Literally saw him as the Brummie Ronaldo. Made this statement publicly but now deny all knowledge.
  3. To paraphrase the clearing in the woods, gonna-be's like us shouldn't listen to has-beens
  4. First thing I did was check to make sure Don Unai's name wasn't on any of the bookie's lists. Second thing I did was laugh my ass off.
  5. Qasem Soleimani was assassinated in Jan 2020, eleven months before Biden came to power. As you say, this was an action that nearly bought about war after scrapping a peace deal with no fallback option. I'd call that pretty dangerous. You'll have to forgive me for not fact checking the rest since that was a pretty well know Trump administration action.
  6. I'll die on the "are" hill. "Is" sounds like Borat.
  7. Fair market value for the 16th best keeper in the world.
  8. I think it's the fact that he earns more in one year than most people would see in five (to fifty) generations and he has absolutely zero humility. The way he tells it, he's earned that and is worth it. Which, when compared to almost every other occupation and standard of competency is sickening. Literally, not figuratively. He's not the only example by a long shot, but he's emblematic of everything that's wrong with the people - a grifter who thinks he's exceptional and is owed whatever he can take.
  9. It’s really more “let’s pretend Arsenal’s former u18 captain had only played 38 games of championship football at 21 but had a stormer vs Man City while playing for a league two side and gave a good account of himself when Arsenal’s U21 team played Liverpool. Also you get him on a free and low wages” Not saying he’ll come good, just think context is important.
  10. From the beeb: "In a statement Gerrard, who is reported to be one of the best-paid managers in the world on a salary of about £15m, said: "This is very pleasing for myself and my family and feels like recognition for a lot of hard work and commitment." The greatest heist ever. Full article if you enjoy being miserable, which given you're on VT is probably most of you. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/68019672
  11. Unrelated but I'm starting a gofundme to pay for a flight to Munich for Joey Barton.
  12. Hope he develops a Bailey-esque level of concern for that hammy.
  13. Can't believe no one has mentioned it yet but I think we should sell Douglas Luiz.
  14. Like trying to find a Needlejković in a haystack
  15. I honestly don't think he's anywhere near mid prem standard, especially with the lack of game time. For example, if he'd started against Boro I would have been nervous. Think a promotion chasing championship team might be a good next step if he can find one.
  16. Can't wait for the "Mings / Buendia are finished at this level" posts four games into their comebacks. It's going to be great.
  17. Tha comparison to Jack doesn't hold water - if Jack had played less than 90 mins of football this season I wouldn't want him either. To be honest I'd be on the fence about Jack coming back in terms of our need for him, and he's been leagues ahead of Sancho. That's not to discount footballers having mental health or personal issues - totally respect that. But I think Man U are like a clown car driving off a cliff right now - funny but ultimately tragic. He's done well to get away from that mess.
  18. For now Consistency and integrity aren't two words I'd associate with FIFA though.
  19. Got it - and yeah agree 100% I don't think we'll sign clear enhancements for any position in January, but your "genuine competition" is a good standard to aim for, getting two in to compete with Cash and Kamara would be amazing. Obviously CF is another area where the drop is clear, but Duran is growing into the role. I'd be open to a loan for someone like Werner though.
  20. but doesn't your second sentence contradict the first? if we suffer when key players are missing our squad isn't great
  21. no but I also wouldn't bet on them making cl they have players coming back but think the owners will have more of an eye on the summer in terms of spending and a new manager if they finish outside of the top 6
