  1. So what exactly is it that classifies a fan as "plastic"? Supporting a team he doesn't really have a connection to? I'm a little curious as to that because I'm from London and we've a number of fans on the board who are not from the UK (Vandaq is one) - do we also count as plastic? Nobody has ever accused me of being a plastic fan, but I imagine that's simply because nobody can currently accuse me of gloryhunting by supporting Villa. But what happens if we qualify for the champions league in a couple of years? Do we then all become plastics? And if not, then what gives Villa fans the right to call fans of other successful teams "plastics"? It is something I've been mulling lately, given I'm actually closer to Arsenal or Chelsea in terms of where I'm from. I suppose this is as good a thread as any to discuss it in. For me a plastic is someone that supports a club on the back of their success. You rarely saw non-local Chelsea fans until recently and any Chelsea fans of that ilk 10 years ago probably had a good reason. It is possible to be a plastic United fan living in Manchester. I met plenty when i lived there. What about fans that started following Villa after the European Cup win? Would you call them bandwagon jumpers / plastic fans?
  2. Hoping for above 9th is quite optimistic (IMO of course), but more power to you if you feel that. For me, I'd be very happy with a 10th-13th place finish. To me it sounds like, people are forgetting that other teams are also improving, nobody is really standing still, except perhaps Newcastle.

  6. I'm a season ticket holder and mine isn't working. I'm not a season ticket holder and mine is working. But I've been an AVTV subscriber for over a year now.
  7. And jumping/falling into those barriers.
  8. Full time 2-2. Well that was worth staying up until 2am for.
  9. Steer wearing the pink keeper top. Gareth would be happy with that I presume.
  10. We have visuals with 5 minutes left. Huzzah!
  11. I'm out of likes for the day so have a instead.
  12. Seems like the players get a ribbing for everything according to Woodward.
  13. Whole team being subbed out for a new one except Burke.
  14. We have a Desmond? 2-2. Bahaha...
  15. I wonder why we even need a third party company for streaming. Just stream it through UStream or something.
  16. Why am I not surprised this isn't working.
  17. Woke up this morning. Checked Facebook while eating breakfast. Aston Villa FC - Official - "Christian Benteke agrees a contract extension to keep him at Villa until 2017." Me: "Holy ****!" Jump out of my chair and send my Weet-Bix flying. "***!"
  18. When we were rumoured to be in for Kiyotake, I had a quick look on a couple of Nuremberg forums to check what their thoughts were, and through the magic of Google translate, I was able to gather that they believed Kakitani would be their direct replacement should Kiyotake leave. Kakitani currently also plays for Cerezo Osaka - the team that both Kiyotake and Kagawa formerly played for.

  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZT1wb8_tcYU Following Julian Assange and Wikileaks. Could be good. Generally love Cumberbatch. But his Aussie accent is slightly off-kilter. It sounds like he's putting all his effort into maintaining the accent and so hasn't got any emotion left in his voice.
  21. Possibly one for the Academy thread, but Swedish youngster Oskar Jansson will be arriving for trials on Thursday. He's a 15 year old attacking midfielder playing with Arvika. From Värmlands Folkblad
  22. Is his actual nickname Baby Drogba? Or is that something the Sun made up about 10 minutes before publishing the article?
