    I thought he was the best player on the pitch today. I'm so excited about him! However I think Stoke away first game might be the wrong game to start him in. I fear they'd really batter him - I wouldn't want him getting injured first game. I'd rather he came on as a sub if he had to. Ideally for me he'd start against Newcastle. I loved how he came right up to the Holte End afterwards and he got the reception he deserved.

    The thing we will have this year is a decent substitutes bench a long with a half decent first 11. I like the fact that we have decent options to bring off the bench in order to change a game. Last seasons subs I always feared were weak.

    ^ How odd! Maybe they just decided to stop selling the upper at some point. Either way i don't expect a big gate at all. the Aston Villa WM Police account tweeted they expect between 12-14,000

    Just watched his interview (may have already been mentioned), he actually seems like a genuinely nice guy who's excited to be here. Looking forward to seeing him play!

    True, each of those sides has enough midfielders. We could at least give him constant starts.

    If we get Sanchez i'd be pretty happy. Seems quite a "big" signing for us though. Could be one of those ones where he's linked to us but then chooses someone like Everton at the last minute..

    Did anyone see the goal mouth scramble at the end of the game tonight? Was it a Bacuna header cleared off the line? I couldn't see because i had a massive **** post in the way..

    I'd like a big, powerful DM, someone with some weight in midfield that can put a few challenges in. Our midfield is so small its something that needs to be sorted. Then maybe a LB or an AM.

    Looked very sharp for a period of about 20 minutes today. Then sort of went quiet. Hope he can emulate this pre season form in the premier league though..

    3.5m - if thats true (unlikely) they can fuuuuuuuck off. They've just milked 90m out of other clubs - the cheek of it is baffling. 90m or **** off Saints. Don't think its true though.

    Didn't get as much game time as i hoped for him this evening. was at least expecting him to come on at half time. Looked decent when he was on though.

    mmm.. still unsure, I remember him being pretty suspect when he did play in the PL. Lets see how he does at the start of the season

    I'd hope he'd stay for 45k pw, but in reality he could quite easily get 60-70k a week at Saints or another club. 45k still isn't up there with Delph and Gabby's contracts?

    He's got a couple which are yet to cement. I think one of them was the same as the Darren Bent song, but now he's back in the frame so who knows! To be fair, he's one of the few players i'm really excited about and that makes me want to chant about him - sad i know..

    I think LVG is very fitness based. Didn't he send someone (can't remember who - an England player) to go and train away from the first team as they weren't properly fit? Regardless, i think Ron should be fit for the first game.
