Agree with most of this but think we can probably get away with having Mings at the back. Carlos hasn’t proved anything yet either so who knows how that turns out. Too many fans on here seem to defend and rate so many of our players in their own individual threads but are left scratching their heads when we can’t seem to break into the top half of the table. The painful truth is, we’re not good enough. Not even close really.

That’s because he’s a good, tidy player and much better than Dendoncker. I just don’t think he’s a general. He doesn’t control games enough or dictate the pace like Kamara can.

Big Summer ahead. Think it’ll be our most active since we got promoted. I imagine we’ll be looking to spend 120m as a baseline with a few quid added on top when we sell Martinez. We may even be able to generate some extra cash through the sale of some fringe players. I think we’ll see a couple of surprise departures too. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bailey leave and maybe even someone like Cash/Konsa. Getting Digne’s wages off the books should be a priority. Probably Coutinho’s too. This group of players isn’t good enough. We need a big refresh and I think we’ll get one. I expect at least 4 new starters for next season. Probably 5/6 if we’re serious about targeting Europe.

If that was the case we wouldn’t have lost the midfield battle today, especially in the second half. I like Luiz, he’s a tidy player, but he’s no general.

Both played on the right for their clubs. That’s where they ‘performed’. Traore was replaced. And we literally paid him to go away. Yeh. Great player.

So we didn’t sign two right sided attackers the summer after Traore was so brilliant? Strange move by the club to sign both Buendia and Bailey when we had such a world beater in Traore.

Not good enough. We all know that. But, I thought he looked better than recent times when he came on yesterday. Always seems to do better as a sub rather than from the start of the match. Either way, sell.

I don’t think it’s slim at all. Martinez will want to leave, he’s already alluded to that. Of course, we’ll play hardball and try to get a big fee for him but if the player doesn’t want to be here, it’s not always beneficial to keep them. I doubt Martinez appreciated the way the club dealt with the Cutler situation either (could be wrong). No way Martinez will want to be here next season in my opinion, and why would he. He’s one of the best in the world and he’ll want to win trophies, just like Grealish did I’m afraid.

Agree they are inconsistent but maybe we can find one that plays well more than 1 in 10. Just an idea.

I agree it’s a collective effort but surely even if it’s working on the training pitch but not on match day, he needs to rein it in a bit. Fed up of gifting chances to the opposition because we can’t pass it out properly.

The playing out from the back is completely on Emery. Managers before him have tried that approach with pretty much the same players and it’s always been a bit of a car crash. If something isn’t working, it’s on the manager to change it. Emery has everybody’s full support but it’s going to get tedious conceding 3 goals in every game. He needs to sort it out.

Laughable you include Buendia in this. You’re right for the most part though.

Yeh, maybe. Maybe we will get 3 from the next 6. I think it’s a possibility given how fragile we are. Unlikely, but a possibility yes. I don’t think we’ll go down, I’m just saying we’re nowhere near as good as people on this forum want to believe. We could very well be pulled into this relegation fight. Yes. We were poor because we gifted them goals. Generally, if you gift the opposition goals, it means you’re poor.

Let’s see at the end of the season. Happy to be wrong.
