  1. 'Slowly, slowly catchee monkey.' I like this though: What he has done, though, is tell the players exactly what is expected of them on and off the park. He wants good professionalism and 100 per cent commitment. They know the consequences if they don’t.
  2. Based on the name alone we should sign this player...
  3. Malaga are Qatari owned but they're not the oil-rich Qataris like at PSG.
  4. ^ Handbags at dawn again on VT... Anyway, Collins is likely to score from a set-piece now; gentlemen place your bets!
  5. It's a friendly it doesn't have to be. Fair play, I guess it's all about game time as the Americans would say. I hear Herd's CB tonight?
  6. So our back four is: Herd---Baker---Stevens---Lichaj Not really very experienced is it?
  7. The Man With the Golden Gun is also excellant. Christopher Lee was Ian Fleming's nephew and really wanted to be part of a Bond movie.
  8. It's too tough to limit this at three... Yes new Bond is highly polished but I grew up with Roger Moore so he'll always be my favourite! People said he was too campy but there were elements of his character which went against that stereotype; especially For Your Eyes Only which showed Bond as closely resembling the character from the novels. A working top three could be as below (however I change everytime I see a Bond movie) - The Spy Who Loved Me license to kill Goldeneye Skyfall could well be awesome from the looks of it.
  9. I wonder if Bannan and Holman will be fighting it out for that spot?
  10. I think Albrighton is a poor player - who happened to have a good few games for us. I remember a few games where he's plyed very well; one of note was the 2-2 draw against Man Utd where he was unplayable. Albrighton has played over sixty games (only starting 41) and he has 9 goals and 8 assists. That's good figures for a player still very inexperienced. I also think his crossing is very good. I wish people would lay off him, if he reads this his confidence will drop or he'll just leave and be a success somewhere else!
  11. Awesome movie...whatever happenend to Nick Coppola after such an illustrious beginning to his acting career?!
  12. Regarding the renovation of the ground whether that is the North Stand or possibly Witton Lane I think the potential is massive. Corporate facilities, museum and even a leisure centre/gym etc would all bring in huge revenue. For instance Villa's corporate facilities are already widely regarded as being some of the best in the PL and we could capitalise that even further. The museum would be of interest to old and new fans plus the many visitors we have on stadium tours or who visit Villa Park for the first time. Personally I don't live in England anymore and people are always asking me about Villa and when I'm taking them to a match! Finally Gym and leisure centre memberships are through the roof and surely this would be a great investment; I think people would fall over themselves to have membership of an Aston Villa gym or leisure centre.
  13. I maybe a bit late here but did anyone notice Leryn Franco and her entrance with the Paraguay team last night? Think I possibly will watch a little of the ladies javelin competition! :winkold:
  14. GG's wiki page has him at 6ft 2in tall; supposing he bulks up a little he could be a real powerhouse of a midfielder in years to come. As has been said earlier he does need games to shine and hone his craft.
  15. Somehow I'm not the least bit surprised about this retort...there must be some cartoons on? I genuinely don't know why you're so angry about this. I think he played one of the Zombie extras and you missed the psychological distress of having no morality that he so subtly but superbly portrayed Oh look it's one of the clique arrived to save the day! I can see what you're getting at but you have no idea at how to compose a sentence.
  16. When you stated that the programme wasn't well-scripted I addressed the themes of psychologial, philosophy and the moral implications moulded into the fabric of the protagonists via script and dialogue. If the programme was terribly scripted they would not discuss these issues and instead possibly discuss much more trivial matters. Philosophy and the whole moral question is paramount to the programme and this could have been up to the viewer to draw their own conclusions and indeed it is but the characters are also discussing these matters through the script which brings the writing to the forefront. Somehow I'm not the least bit surprised about this retort...there must be some cartoons on?* *Only joking 'Stevo' :winkold:
  17. I think any Zombie TV show keen to talk psychological, philosophical and social commentary is fairly unique not wholly but it is sufficient enough. Endless cliches? It is a Zombie TV show after all. However there are a few twists and as yet the viewers are still in the dark about many aspects of how, why etc. Now a cliche would obviously use aforesaid plot and scenario from other media in this ilk but we are yet to know full details... So i'm not allowed to debate with you and bring forth material as to why you are incorrect based on the aforesaid script incorporating characters and their symposium on moral obligation, philosophy and such forth? Argument, point of view, debate they are all interchangeable words to denote the nature of our communication upon this subject Again, please note I am not ear-marking The Walking Dead as a piece of TV history like The Sopranos but I think you do it an injustice to say the script is poor considering the range of topics covered etc. FWIW, the end of Season 2 redeemed itself as the beginning of the season seemed to be heading for overplaying the morality of the situation and the consequences of the characters and their actions.
  18. I'm easily pleased? Says the poster who justifies his loose and unsound argument with a particularly unfunny cartoon But let's not degenerate this to personal attacks; i'm not suggesting this is the modern reincarnation of Harry Lime's script in The Third Man ! It's pertinent that you clearly disregard the psychological and philosophical dialogue that many of the characters have in relation to the situation they find themselves in? The deeper underlying nature of this and its social commentary is well-scripted as far as I am concerned but this is brought to the fore more so in Season 2. I guess initially they focus more on developing the plot, story etc in Season 1 and expand on the psychological nature and so forth in Season 2... Please note I haven't expounded this is a masterclass in acting at all, but I like the scenario and there is some interesting social commentary as detailed above in relation to the script. To deny this is clearly ignoring the reality and is clearly subjective reasoning based on some opinion rather than fact.
  19. I beg to differ and considering you had not watched the series in its entirety forming a sound argument on this matter is rather ironic. However, to fill you in some of the characters in the story have severe psychological issues as reflected by the circumstances they find themselves in. As a result some characters are very troubled and hence difficult to read initially by their words (well-scripted) and inevitably by their actions. Furthermore, at its most philosophical there are many debates as to the morality of the situation and the actions and intended or unforeseen consequences of the characters. Again like the psychologial aspects the philosophy and ethics of the situation are often fleshed out through dialogue which I personally thought was well-scripted. Personally I thought there was some interesting social commentaries flagged up by the script which one can pick up on. Sure it's a Zombie TV programme and it is possible to disengage the brain also aswell as picking up the deeper meaning.
  20. Shame for the lad...hope he recovers quick. I guess halfway through the season when Marc recovers it'll be like a new signing
  21. That's brain-dead TV right there...I was about to interject but alas the comment above has redeemed the debate towards the favour of Walking Dead. Seriously though parts of Walking Dead are good and well-scripted with a few twists along the way. The first half season of Season 2 I thought it very boring but the last half was well worth hanging in there for. The Sopranos is by far the best TV show i've seen; it's halfway through the last season on SKY Atlantic HD at the moment and I have no idea what i'm going to do without it. I missed it first time around as bizarrely I thought it would be rubbish, how wrong could one be!
  22. It is still early days but I don't see Newcastle finishing top six. I think they will be scrapping with us, Everton, Fulham, Sunderland, QPR and Stoke for the top ten places. I have a feeling Southampton and Reading will do quite well this year. I hope West Ham struggle and realistically Norwich, West Brom and Wigan might be relegated.
  23. One cannot doubt Collins and his desire to block shots and make last ditch tackles however some ex-player noted that this usually meant a player was off the pace or slow considering a huge part of their game was reliant on last-gasp swashbuckling dives at the ball. I would also prefer to keep Dunne than Collins and the latter is a huge part of our defensive weakness. Saying that I'm sure he'll score against us if he does leave
  24. I think this season is Clark's time to progress, looking at some footage in the games in the States he seems to have got a bit bulkier? I think the fact he's playing regularly in pre-season means he'll be in the first XI this season with Dunne or significant other CB. Much of the problem with our weak defence last season was due to both Dunne and Collins playing as I feel both players are too alike and often seem to get in each others way and of course Warnock who had a terrible season. Cresswell from the talk i've seen regarding him is a ball player and comfortable in possession. Lichaj too is a neat, tidy and rather quick player. Also and let's not forget KEA and his role to play as ball-winning, defensive and possession minded player and is the type Villa have lacked in quite some time. In a sense KEA could well signify a change in the defence and it's mentality as a result of his style. Hopefully :!:
