  1. If you look at Fletcher's record in the PL it's pretty good considering where he's played. 61 appearances in the PL and 22 goals.
  2. No i don't see it either but you never know...Jones though is a class above (in my opinion) and knowing him he'll want to fight Henderson at any range he's that comfortable; standing guillotine against Machida was brutal! Thing is if Henderson wins he'll be regarded as one of the greats due to his success in Pride, Strikeforce and the UFC. But at 41 years of age it'll be a tough ask.
  3. I've had the misfortune of being in the close company of Russians when on holiday in places like Sri Lanka and Hainan Island; they are very arrogant people.
  4. ^ I would not disagree with you there at all. Obviously a little alcohol can be good for you and in fact I maybe arguing with myself here a little but my point was strictly from the health perspectives and what alcohol can do to cloud the judgment in a person who would be tryin it for the first time. Obviously that can be a danger. I still think on a scale of things bad for you alcohol still rates up there with the worst of them. I think we've all seen it at its worst or witnessed some pretty shocking things by those under the influence. This was my main point.
  5. I think away to certain teams like Wet Spam, and Stoke etc he'll need a Herd alongside him but I'm hoping he'll be our Michael Carrick :!:
  6. I do agree in a sense but the issue is being seperated here and although that is necessary (to you) it is not sufficient enough. Sure a little tipple here and there won't do much from a health perspective but the problem is when one has too much. We know the facts are that alcohol has the possibility of clouding one's mental faculties and in turn this is an aspect of our health and hence it can be a huge factor in making impotant decisions which can lead to drastic consequences. So in conclusion we can see it is not completely safe to drink alcohol due to is effects on the mind, memory and motor skills which all are aspects of a healthy mind and body.
  7. Is Carrick the definition of an 'Enforcer'?
  8. I'd play Herd too due to his tacklin ability and jumping feats as Wet Spam will play the percentage game and get the ball into the danger zone as much as they can. My midfield would be - ---------Herd----KEA--------- Bannan----------------Holman ------------Ireland------------
  9. Do you think in almost two years he may have learnt from that?? bit harsh to hold it against him now. I still think to this day that was the flukiest hat-trick Carroll will ever get, there were some sloppy goals and Clark did not get destroyed. It was terrible deending from the midfield through to defence and he was not completely to blame.
  10. He does and I think he will.
  11. If it was such a simple argument then why do people have such dificulty understanding the limitations of their mind, body, desires etc? As someone pointed out earlier people should learn to live in moderation; it is one of the wisest ways to be. Only making it illegal would lessen its dangers and consequences of its use; whether that be domestic violence, death by misadventure, drink-driving all of these are as likely with short-term long-term use (which was your original point). This reminds me of the phrase "Guns don't kill people, people do" or something like that. Is that your line of thinking?! However, I think a tangent has been found. Initially you stated: "That's not true of alcohol which itself only becomes dangerous through consistent abuse." and based on what I said previously I think that the facts are alcohol can be as danerous to first time users as long-term. It clouds the mind and ability to think whether you are trying it for the first time or the hundredth. Hence the unforseen consequences of a person using alcohol for the first time are limitless and can have unfortunate conclusions.
  12. Yes, that is one sport I have never understood. The basic premise is that you get oiled up then try to get your hands into each others underwear right? Who came up with that as a sport? In ancient Greece this form of wrestling was featured in the early Olympics back then it was known as Pankration where it later evolved into Greco. Incidentally Pankration is one of Europe's oldest martial arts... The word gymnastics is taken from the Greek word Gymnos which means naked; yes the early olympics were competed completely naked to fully appreciate the aesthetic sight of the body!
  13. You see ... because I'm not a druggy, I'm ill-equipped to argue this but let's just say I find it very difficult to believe that something like alcohol, where 1 drink does you zero damage, is 'the most dangerous drug out there' when people have taken the likes of E or acid and literally dropped dead from it. Now if you're talking about the wider discussion of alcohol abuse where it takes years of over-indulgence ending up with liver damage then you're not comparing apples and apples. Per unit, I don't accept that alcohol is as dangerous as any of them. I include cigarettes in that. Every single cigarette does you a degree of damage. That's not true of alcohol which itself only becomes dangerous through consistent abuse. I'd be inclined to disagree on the grounds of a very simple argument: when too much alcohol is consumed the result is sickness and vomiting. This indicates that alcohol is a poison and the body's natural reaction is to try and rid this from the system. The permutations of alcohol abuse can be a extremely dangerous to a first time user when they do not understand its effects and side-effects. Therefore it is not only "dangerous through consistent abuse" because we all know from a mental perspective alcohol can inhibit clear thinking which can cause loss of life.
  14. To play devil's advocate here a little I was also getting slightly aggrieved at the amount British swimmers who got to finals and were tipped to be medal hopefuls who also made the same comments. They all continually said the same thing in their interviews: "Yea, nice to get to a final and happy to finish fifth (or sixth)...taking part that counts". To me that got tedious and I started to detect that Team GB were resigned to not winning any golds in the pool. Sure they did well but it seemed they knew they wouldn't win gold.
  15. Haha like Endor...now there's an idea...! Bonsai can be very time-consuming but very rewading to see somehing you have spent time and effort grow into a beautiful tree. There is a lot of form in regard to this as you can shape the tree anyway you please but it is important that the right conditions are maintained which can involve different containers and amount of water used. They are very easy to kill though unfortunately, and you do need to buy equipment for pruning but it's not really an expensive hobby. I think the tree itself can be bought or a little as £10 or as much as several hundred (some might be virtually priceless). This Bonsai in Shunkaen, Japan is around 800 years old
  16. Happy to see Lyoto Machida win, a true martial artist in every sense. Unfortunately we see too many of the Ryan Bader's of this world who are 'Jack of all trades' and Master of none... Bader showed his weakness in stupidly rushing in and playing into Machida's plan of counter-attack. I too would like to see Machida beat Jones, he did win the first round when they met previously. Who knows maybe Dan Henderson will beat Jones and we'll see Machida v Henderson for the Light Heavyweight title?!
  17. I think unlike Beye he'll want to play week in week out and also he'd be keen to get back in amongst the Scottish International team. This will likely drag out until the end of the transfer window and the fee if any will be miniscule.
  18. Yes it's a nice style with a great history. I have a few friends who study it, one of whom teaches. Unfortunate that, are you not in Birmingham? How about Shuai jiao, Aikido, Jujutsu, Brazilian Jujutsu are any of these listed around where you live?
  19. And what is so remarkable about that? Considering the catchment area of the 'Second City' PL surely would not be mistaken in trying to harness that.
  20. Choose a martial art; i've been practising since I was a very little kid and at 34yrs now I still find this stuff inspirational. Sure throughout life i've also had things that have held interest such as mountainbiking, the gym and playing a musical instrument (amongst others) but there is nothing that compares to mental, physical and spiritual benefits attributed to studying martial arts. In my humble opinion of course...
  21. I'd pay good money to see Leryn Franco spearhead our attack
  22. Comfortable top ten finish, however if Bent stays fit he could get us higher. League Cup and FA Cup are a lottery and it depends on the draw but it would be nice if we had some luck for a change in these competitions!
