  1. I like him, in a struggling team he still averages about 4-5 goals per season and the same in assists over the last two seasons. He'd improve on that at Villa for sure. Yeah as is why I mentioned him, would add balance to the team (i think) he's left-footed too. This would potentially allow us to move Grealish to CAM perhaps! As I said think we need to hunt from teams around us or below us in the table and try the odd 'under the radar' gem from overseas.
  2. Yeah they are still young. But if we have nothing to play for end of the season we will likely see some of the youngsters I'd hope.
  3. In the highlights i've seen he looks good alongside Carney Chukwuemeka and Louie Barry. Imagine if the three continue to develop and get some 'game time' maybe end of the season and next.
  4. Sanson looks decent so far and I think we have reason to be excited. If we can get him and Grealish in the team for the last nine to ten games i think that will really improve our chances of a top ten finish. After a good pre-season I'd expect Sanson to really show some quality next season.
  5. Shopping the PL is both good and bad. Yes Bissouma, looks good but likely it will promote a bidding war. We can afford it though, Villa need to splash the cash... I saw a list of DEFENDERS Man City had signed under Guardiola which totals over £500 million! However I think if we maintain 'top ten' we should be looking to sign other teams top players from the likes of Brighton and Southampton. Yes there is value to be found in the Championship but we will need players to start the season who are experienced at the PL level and not waiting for them to learn like Watkins, Konsa, Cash etc. Just some random names: Yves Bissouma James Ward-Prowse Dwight McNeil Alan Saint-Maximin And Tammy Abraham or Edouard?
  6. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!
  7. We need three strikers and Davis. Do you remember the luxury of strikers we had under Atkinson, Little and Gregory? Watkins, Tammy, Wesley and Davis. It's absurb that we have gone into this season with ONE main striker!
  8. Wesley is not going anywhere. I'd keep El Ghazi. However I think we might have seen the best of Trezeguet I'm sad to say as i like his industry and he did save us after Project Restart.
  9. I agree I saw it at the time and thought where's the urgency. Seems to be a lot of chat on Twitter too, screenshots etc of this exact scenario and 'finger pointing'. To me he is way too slow for this level, it's the main reason we lose possession so much as he gets caught. McGinn is not an athlete and therefore he costs us repeatedly, it has been so glaringly obvious for so long.
  10. Take Salah's goals away from Liverplop, Fernandes from Manure for example... Even the top teams have that predicament, the only difference is they have ten years of consistent investment ahead of Villa.
  11. I think it was against Sheff Utd where we kept putting in cross after cross and their defenders just loved it. It was a woeful tactic, absolutely clueless. But yeah Benteke might have worked in that scenario better.
  12. Maybe but it will stop people dominating our midfield. McGinn isn't exactly creating much either, quite the opposite I'd attest considering how much he gives the ball away and gets caught in possession. We need to change something and Mcginn is the only constant in midfield and it clearly isn't working. McGinn needs benched and Smith needs to realise he's a squad player at best!
  13. Sanson Marvelous Luiz It's not difficult to see, try it Dean please.
  14. Effectively as we don't play Davis we have gone into the season with ONE Striker, it's mental. Some will hate it but I'm going to say it: Benteke on a five to six month contract in January would have given us a PL quality striker to take some pressure off Watkins. He was allegedly angling for a move and I'm sure he'd have bagged a couple of important goals for us. We needed that experience to help us home so to speak. You could see the lift Newcastle got when Carroll came on for them, I'm adamant Benteke could have been that player for us. Ten to fifteen minutes appearances for Benteke here and there would also have kept Watkins fresher.
  15. I still think we didn't deserve a victory, we were sloppy and disinterested.
  16. Based on his performances this season I'm struggling to think of any PL team where he would start. Even against Sheff. Utd he was in direct competition with Lundstram and he lost that particularly battle. Again against Newcastle the rookie Willock danced around and bested him repeatedly.
  17. To have any hope in European football this Summer needs massive investment. We need probably to at least improve the first team by three quality acquisitions. Possibly a forward of the Rodrigo De Paul type of quality to add some quality going forward. A new CM who is an improvement on Mcginn, one who is stronger, quicker, doesn't repeatedly lose possession and is actually an athlete. After that Edouard possibly to rotate with Watkins, Wesley.
  18. There are still a couple of midfield combinations we haven't tried and they all are without McGinn. Nakamba based on his figures and performances should be in he team, Sanson is the best all-rounder we have and Luiz is Mr. Cool. Ramsey also offers more than McGinn. McGinn needs benched we have better options than him. I have had this nagging feeling all-along that he isn't good enough for the PL since the day we were promoted.
  19. Just looked at April's fixtures, ouch! March seemed kind (on paper) but we blew it. However we have punched above our weight, the way we are playing we seem to look like finishing eleventh or twelfth. I for one think that's a real shame as we seemed to be in a very strong position.
  20. I agree he should have kept his place, well it seems McGinn can do no wrong. Enthused by Sanson even before he played for us, I think he looks very good.
  21. Last couple of games I've been worried by his performances. The ball is bouncing off him, he can't hold it up and now he's giving the ball away which invites pressure. It's a worrying performance to show against Newcastle especially.
  22. Just isn't good enough. He's slow, gets constantly caught in possession and gives the ball away. His lofty left-footed passes seem to be what is most important. Needs benched for Sanson, it's a combination not yet tried. McGinn is the weak link. He's just not a first-team PL player, squad player at best.
  23. Awful performance from everyone... Joelinton looked decent and Willock. Worried about Watkins, last few games the ball has been bouncing off him and inviting pressure on our defence. McGinn s*** yet again.
  24. Best post i've read here... Give Wesley some love folks, a young man gets a move to a PL club with a massive price-tag around his neck. He still manages 5 goals, one assist in 21 games. I'm sure without his injury he would have grown into the team and improved. I bet he would have double figures if he remained fit last season. For those criticising Wesley; where would we be without his goals? In the Championship. It's the same with people criticising Trezeguet, he was immense after 'Project Restart' and saved us practically single-handedly; again without his goals where would AVFC be? Again I see criticism of Traore and ask you where would we be without his 5 goals, 3 assists in 24 games? Perhaps a relegation scrap?
