My point was made with reference to the last 10 years, neither Gabby, Cahill or Barry fits in that description. And to some extent we may have overhyped them, but still many of them have been regulars at good performing england youth team, some even captains. Bannan and Clark are not PL regulars, though Clark has played roughly equal to 1 season worth of games over the last 3 seasons. I agree with the sentiment that some really poor decisions must have been made with regards to how to polish the rough youth products into pl ready players. I wonder if the mental aspects of our youth training, or indeed throughout the whole squad, has been up to scratch? It surely must have been a bad environment to be brought up to the senior squad the last 2-3 years we played in the PL, with the whole squad in such a poisonous mood. And also loan deals, with seemingly almost not a single loan deal being a good match for the outgoing players.

It`s so frustrating that we always seem to have a bunch of really good prospects, only for them to never progress after the age of 17-19. I start to wonder why we don`t seem to be able to push them on the last stretch. Delfouneso, Weimann, Green, O`hare, Suliman, were all one time or another seen as the next big thing, and yet it hardly looks like anyone of them will ever be a PL regular. The last ten year we can only say to have produced two players of a noteworthy quality, Grealish and Albrighton. Hopefully that`s why we are now looking for a new u-23 coach. But am i mistaken in believing we just hired two people from West Brom as academy personnel?

Aerial duels and concentration (how many mistakes the player does), seems like whoscore aggregate all the tried/successful passes/tackling attemps, and depending on how high the % of successes is, they give a rating of very good/good/i guess neutral/weak/very weak. So he must try a lot of tackles and passes, and not a high % of them are successful

I`m not to overly keen, when i read through his wiki, it seems he is extremely injury prone. Also whoscored lists his weaknesses as tackling (very weak) and passing (weak). But if Deano believe, in Deano we trust

i checked his injury history on Transfermarket, it`s almost non-existing. Which is bloody nice. Usually big tall strikers tend to have a fair amount of injuries.

I really hope we don`t buy more than 4-5 players (excluding bringing in loan signings permanently), because time and time again you see the clubs that buys to many new players end up with a decent looking squad on paper, but there is no team, and time and time again these clubs do it very poorly. Just look at us last time we were in PL, or Fulham this year. Team spirit and coherence are two virtues often overlooked in football today, but are essential for clubs are size to have any chance of surviving in PL. We should build slowly, and let the new players accustom them self to our culture, instead of it having to be built up from the ground every summer when there is a massive influx and outflux of players. Leicester in their winning season did only buy a handful of shrewd signings, the same has wolves done this season, we should take inspiration from this. And luckily with the new owners inspiration from "moneyball"-philosophy, they should quickly see that a massiv influx of players is not the way to take this club forward.
