  1. Maybe time to play a right back on the left side again?
  2. Well, Jack tried against Norwich.
  3. People were talking about the horrible fixture list and were expecting better against the bottom three. What's happened is we're looking terrible, and there's no light at the end of the tunnel. We're only one point off, so that's good. But our form is atrocious.
  4. Chester in with Konsa would be my choice. Only if Chester is ok obviously.
  5. I can't get over how he basically avoided contact with the ball when it was passed beside him for the second goal. What was he thinking? No defensive awareness.
  6. It's the same problem. We're either very poor headers, pushed around, or unable to position and anticipate correctly. Or, of course, poorly set up. Probably a combination of all these.
  7. HAHA... usually people are accused of never changing their opinion (on web boards like this), but here you should hold the same opinion on a player no matter what, otherwise you're fickle. I'm sure you guys love Villalad21, he sticks to his opinions.
  8. Why bother cross the ball? There's never anyone in the box. If there is, he (Wesley) is standing put flat-footed and ball-watching. We shouldn't cross the ball at all. Chester used to score from crosses and corners every now and then, because he had the instincts. Our current CBs, Mings included, might as well stay at half way line.
  9. Hope so. We'd be better defensively, and he'd score a goal from a corner occationally.
  10. We're broken, done with. If Smith can turn this around, he's a magician. That's the level of shite we're in. It's not just a dip in form. We outperformed against big clubs until Leicester put a fork in us. Now we're underperforming, and the timing is horribly wrong. We'd been better off losing royally to Top 6 and being able to compete against these lot now.
  11. Our defense is a shambles. But our midfield is even worse. Not to mention our attack. Our keeper is great though. I don't know what to do, but we need a lot of help. Mings coming back will help, but our spirits are pretty much broken and the manager has no plan. However, we must stay up somehow. Whatever it takes.
  12. I agree, we need to do whatever it takes and then some to stay up. If we go down, we'll stay there for a long time.
  13. Did you see him ball-watch when the winger got one of those diagonals and moved inside from in front of him? That was criminal.
  14. Smith doesn't have an established system, there's no strong blueprint in his strategy. He relies on individuals, which has rightly been said here many times. Last season Jack came back and took us up. If we go down, and lose Grealish, how do you think Smith'll do then?
  15. He should have played that ball forward instead of turning around and putting Ezri under pressure. Ezri made the final mistake, but Elmo should've made a better choice.
  16. I was so angry with him since the second goal that killed us was preventable if he'd got out of his comfort zone and not let the ball pass him by. No fight at all in him. I only saw it once so stand corrected if I'm wrong.
  17. Another too young and inexperienced one in a too big role.
  18. Not any worse than all the others, actually better than some.

    Ezri Konsa

Ezri, like all our other CBs, could be ok with Mings, but not with the others yet.
  20. We won't be coming straight back up without Grealish. Relegation would be a disaster on many levels.
  21. This is going in many ways the same as it did with Sherwood. He came in and saved us from relegation, took us to Wembley (yes, lost there) and had to buy a new team in the summer. Difference is Sherwood had no funds and lost all of Benteke, Snake and Vlaar. Dean needed a whole team, but had huge funds. End result looks the same.
  22. The writing was on the wall even on this board before the game. We'd just won Norwich, and yet nobody believed in us. Nobody. With the way we played neither did Smith. So, a very predictable result, even if it came after some unbelievably poor decisions and atrocious play. We were half-dead before the game, how do get back up after the way it ended?
