  1. Agree DC, at home that midfield is not creative enough.
  2. Sanchez and Delph will be a very good central midfield.
  3. I'm not sure that the last 2 seasons have made him too cautious. For me we look a lot better than last year already. We could finish anywhere between 8th and 16th, but with the right aqusitions, and a bit more positivity we could be finishing much higher. For me in the 2nd half, when we were too deep, he should have brought on Cole and Sanchez, and taken off Westwood and Weimann, gone Sanchez as the holding midfielder, pushed Delph up, and played NZog and Richardson wider with Cole supporting Gabby. As i say, i don't think we are too far away from a reasonable team, but the manager needs to be more pro-active.
  4. One of my favourite players over the last 10/15 years, hope he can contribute to us, the game was crying out for someone like him today.Good to see a player who hasn't come just for the money.
  5. Quite a few on here eating humble pie. I never understood why he attracted so much hatred, a lot of supporters seemed to object to the fact that he kicked Long. For me there can't be enough bad tackles on Albion players. MOM again today for me, well done.
  6. Worst FB?.......not against Chelsk last season he wasn't. Technically a good player, fast, good feet, good cross, but mentally incredibly fragile. Good Luck to him, still think he could be a very good player for AVFC
  7. Ings will be a very good player. Maybe after the takeover.
  8. No coincedence that on saturday we played with 4 International defenders, and looked competant. When Baker played, and i saw him have quite a few good games, he played with inexperienced FBs and sometimes Clark.Too inexperienced. Not his fault, i still think he will be ok long term, needs to play alogside an experienced defender for a season or 2 , probably in a lower league, and he will become a good defender. I've said before, and i will say again, at his age, a better defender than Cahill was at the same age, and hes ok.
  9. Agree samjp....never been over impressed by Holtby, and Zaha just has the look of a player who will never play in a good side.Techically good, but not a team player. Say it again, i believe Lestienne was linked with a £4m move , thats a bargain, reminds me of Coutinhio.
  10. I think Sanchez wiil make a big difference defensively, give more protection to the back 4. Granted we are a better team with Vlaar in, but i would love Hernandez down VP, and with Vlaar being 29, and Hernandez being 25, if the deal is possible, i would go for it tbh
  11. Lestienne and Hernandez are exactly the type of players we should be signing. Both have quality, you could argue nearly top quality, both have something to prove, both could, if they prove themselves , be CL players. CB is a draw, we should use him to attract these kind of players.
  12. Lestienne permanent signing, and Hernandez either on loan, or as part of a Vlaar deal.
  13. To be fair though rodders, a lot of posters on here who have seen GG rated him very highly as a kid. As i said time will tell.Regarding Westwood, squad player for me at best. I think the spine of Guzan, Vlaar, Sanchez, and CB is good.Aly, Delph, Okores makes the basis of a good team, and Hutton looked solid yday, so Hernandez and Lestienne......we're sorted.
  14. To be fair to GG Stefan he has been injured, and he was always seen as a real potential, and a better player than his brother. You rate Westwood, i don't, i'm not sure how good or bad GG is going to be, but i think he deserves a chance, i know some on here thought before his injury, that he wa going to be an exceptional player.Time will tell.
  15. I thought both FBs overlapped well yday, and you could argue give us better options. If both Hutton and Aly keep playing as well as yday, then a Michu player behind CB would be fantastic.
  16. That chance he missed yday summed up Gabby to me. He should havw scored, a good player would have score, but it was his lack of awareness/anticipation that summed him up.A good striker would have made a move and gave himself more space, or opened himself up better.Gabby did neither. For me he is a lazy player, that despite having some great attributes, hasn't worked at his game hard enough and has gone backwards.
  17. Hes ok, but if he goes, and we bring in, say Dembele, then that would be a definate improvement. We have too many average players atm, and need to improve the quality. KEA is like Westwood, Herd, GG, average at best, we only need 1 or 2 of them, and better players in front of them, Sanchez and Delph is a reasonable midfield.
  18. He was positive yday, but as Bunnski said he doesn't know when to release the ball. Saying that i thought he was our best attacking player yday.
  19. This adulation of Westwood is beyond me.When did he ever dictate a game? Hes a young lad, who might turn out to be ok, but a club of Villas stature should have better 1st team players than Westwood, for me hes no better than GG.
  20. Westwood, and bring in Cole if he is fit as well.Would probably play Bent at home as well, as i think he would be more alert and sharper than Gabby. Grealish looked very composed.
  21. Play him next week, keep the players on their toes.
  22. Probably MOM today for me.I really rate the Stoke player he was marking, he tore us apart last year, and yet he did nothing. I'm not convinced about Hutton defensively tbh, but thought he played well today.
  23. Worked hard today, but i'm afraid he should have scored at least once, not enough quality. Was it me did they all work harder today?....good to see Keane get involved on the sidelines as well.
