  1. I think Moyes might be a busted flush. His lack of tactical awareness, indeed modern approach to the game, was highlighted by his failure at OT, and indeed the emergence of Everton as a good footballing team. His style is a tight defence, with competitive midfielders and the emphasis being on teamwork and work ethic, rather than movement and touch. I take on board your comments about Laudrup, but the next manager at VP for me should be a good footballing coach, who appreciates the modern style of football, encourages good football, and good footballers, and is good at improving young players. For me Hoddle would be ideal, or a Laudrup kind of manager, who expects good football.Emre might be worth a go if we get taken over, but i was very impressed by Southampton when we played them, the style, the formation, the attitude, the players and if we do get taken over, he would be my 1st choice.
  2. You've tempted me in. So he can play defensive midfielder, but can't tackle, cover runs, anticipate danger, or cover space........so not a good defensive midfielder. Get a DM, and move him forward!!......to do what, hes not a no 10 player, he can't beat a man, he doesn't score enough goals, and doesn't create enough. I don't blame Westwood, hes an ok player.Hes not a good passer, hes average, hes not physical, hes not quick, and hes not aggressive enough. Why he is so highly rated on here is , to me , a sad indictment of how far we have fallen, that a bang average footballer is so highly rated. Is he one of our better players?....possibly, but that doesn't make him a good player, we are incredibly poor at the moment unfortunately.
  3. Nor are Westwood, KEA, Gabby, Weimann, Lowton, Albrighton, Clark, but they are seen as more likely to be 1st teamers. At the start of the season he was 4th choice CH, its not his fault he is a regular now.Her should be loaned out to learn his trade. For me hes better at this age than Cahill was, and he hasn't turned out too bad.I still think he has it in him to be a reasonable CH in about 3/4 years time.
  4. IF we are taken over, then i would have the Southampton guy. If not, then Hoddle or Laudrup would be fine, as long as we stop up
  5. You could dissect every goal yday and question players. Why was Shelvey allowed so much time and space to pick a pass to an offside Bony.Where was Westwood? The 2nd goal, where was the options for Vlaar?, if not sure why not launch it. The 3rd goal, defensive shambles, where was our RB?. Yes Baker needs to calm down, but making out that he is solely responsible for our shambolic performances is utterly ridiculous.
  6. And the scapegoat has been highlighted yet again why? 1st goal offside, 2nd goal Vlaar mistake, 3rd goal Lowton , was playing central midfield at the time.4 Swansea players when the ball went in, 3 Villa defenders, where was the covering midfielder. Baker should'nt be playing, but leave the kid alone a bit ffs.
  7. Clark left Rooney, their best player, to follow a midfielder running into the box who was already being covered. Clarks 25, Baker is 21, for me Baker might turn out ok, i don't think Clark will, thats all.
  8. Not good enough to be starting RB? When Lallana broke the back line yday, it was Bacunas pace that got him back and nullified the situation.Could be a very good RB.Has power, pace, strength, everything you need as a good RB.If he was playing last week, then Bolaisie wouldn't have got past him as easily as he did Lowton. Watching him yday, don't think he was fully fit.
  9. Clark who left Rooney on his own when we was 1-0 up? Clark hasn't developed, keeps making elementary mistakes, and is what 25?...For me if your'e not in the 1st team at 24/5, then you may as well be moved on.
  10. TBF though meregreen, barring injuries Baker would'nt be playing, so why does he get so much stick ? In the mean time, Gabby and Weimann were incredibly poor again, and Westwood and KEA completely ineffective, and yet they don't get as much stick as Baker. Agree he shouldn't be a 1st teamer for a club like Villa, but nor should, out of the starting line up yday, Westwood, KEA, Albrighton, Gabby and Weimann. Not good enough to get in the top half of the table.
  11. Baker was fine yday. Interesting point though Isa.Compare how Soton defenders always tried to keep the ball when defending, whereby we are just happy to clear the lines.Thats coaching. Villas problem is midfield, not enough support for the attack, not enough energy or urgency.
  12. The comparison between us and Soton was embarrassing yday, and i put most if it down to poor coaching. Soton play exactly how i want us to play, good movement, good possession, comfortable on the ball .I believe Delph, Bacuna, Bennett, Sylla , even Gabby would be much better players with better coaching, the reason, for me, why we are where we are yet again, is because of poor recruitment, and poor coaching. Whoever owns/manages us next season, i hope we have a good football coach.
  13. I take on board the criticism of Gabby and Weimann, and indeed the whole team, but watching Soton today, its obvious there is a gulf in the coaching of their players and ours.I have always felt that Gabby has never been properly coached, and it now looks like Weimann might be getting the same.Poor decision making, poor movement, 1st touch.A lot of it is down to coaching, and obviously confidence. Not good enough i accept, but maybe this Culverhouse incident has demoralised the players a lot more than we thought.
  14. No thanks. If we are after a Championship player i would rather have Ings, Rhodes or Hughes for that kind of money. When we were linked with him before, someone come on here who knew him and said he was rabidly anti Villa, and used to play with his brothers in a team, and were just a bunch of thugs. No Thanks
  15. As previously stated Steve, they might be odd beliefs to us, but it is the views of Buddhists, so hes not on his own as having these views, and as the father of a lad who is disabled, i'm not overly offended by Hoddles comments tbh
  16. Hoddle. Would play good football, would develop the players, would attract good players. Was it Shearer who said that he was tactically the best coach he had worked under, and i saw Merse recently, and he said he should still be the England manager. More importantly he is immediately available, and cheap.
  17. Best chance of the game? Only chance of the game, against Palace...jeez
  18. Well your mate Westwood was even worse than Baker today Stefan. How many times does he have to pass the buck?
  19. Can't disagree there Kwan, and he keeps doing it, which begs the question why the manager doesn't tell him, bad management.
  20. And the reason why he has been picked on again? Team selection, lack of ambition in midfield, no movement, lack of quality on the ball, that was the problem today, leave him alone.
  21. We spent £7m on Kozak.........now you can argue that a striker wasn't a priority in Jan, but a top quality midfielder was.So what is our priority now.For me, get the midfield right, and thats half the battle, Delph is good enough, thats it.Fulham were bottom of the league before ydays game, if you can't look good against the bottom of the league, then maybe its because you are not very good.
  22. Hes got the same beliefs as Buddhists TV, so presumably we shoul discriminate against him on religious grounds. Just listen to Hoddle on Sky, and tell me he doesn't know what he is talking about.
  23. With good leadership though DR, and a vision of the direction we are going to go in, then we could be Everton in 2 years time. A team with Guzan, Okores, Delph, Bacuna , CB, is a good base, alongside Vlaar, is a good base. The rest need replacing.
  24. I don't know what planet you are on Steffan. How much did we spend in Summer/Jan?....i'm saying a good midfielder would have been my priority, McCarthy fits the kind of player i would have bought, a good young player, who is going to get better, a bit like Okores if you like.I presume that PL was given a certain amount.£20m?, i would have gone for McCarthy. 2nd point, yes Westwood is an ok player, but you constantly make out he is an exceptional passer, hence the comparison with Cowans..he is not, the fact he is a better than all the other midfielders we currently have is half the proiblem. He is the best passer we have, but hes not that good a passer, and his lack of pace, strength, mobility imho makes him a weakness. I'm not going to constantly argue with you Steffan, as i say i admire your loyalty to him, i just think its a bit misguided.
  25. Yeah the pass to the Fulham player for their winner was majestic. He has a reasonable pass on him, i was there yday, he played 2 or 3 good passes, the rest were square, easy passes.Hes not exactly in Cowans' class is he?
