  1. OS says that we can recall him after 28 days.
  2. I have to say General, I am a big fan of Houllier and think that despite the results he was a good appointment. The state our club is/was in was in need of a long term project and I salute Randy for acknowledging his mistakes in letting MON run wild with ridiculous wages, it was a mistake and fairly expected of a new owner who maybe didnt understand the game? I dont know, but I think Houllier is good for the club. That said if by some magical witchcraft You, Randy or PF could convince Louis Van Gaal to take over at the helm of the club I think I would fall in love with you all all over again. It has to be said our results have been poor but I understand the work being done in the background but Van Gaal is a master of clubs with great youth set ups. Ajax and Barca are 2 clubs he has managed and probably the 2 most successful Youth Academies in the World. His teams always play possession football and he always seems to strive for beautiful, attacking football. Exactly what we are striving towards. If Houllier does have to go (which I dont believe he does). This guy would be perfect and an absolutely huge coup for the club. Cant stress that enough. That said, and no disrespect to our own club, this guy is in another class, i cant see his reputation being too tarnished after 1 bad season at Bayern, after all the only reason he didnt win the CL last year was because his old apprentice/protege Jose Mourinho happens to be one of, if not the, best manager in the world.. Can see Van Gaal in a much 'bigger' club who are already pushing for honours in Europe.
  3. Forget the striker we played with all the way to January? Okay. Bent is a lone striker through and through. Couldn't play with Gabby, Heskey maybe . He did well for Sunderland this year but started losing form as soon as Welbeck and Gyan started doing well and pushing for his place.. yes okay thats a bit stupid of him. It might be because he reportedly did not get on with Gyan at all. But he's a lone striker and a good one at that. Hopefully Fonz will be too as then we'll have 2 good strikers who can play on their own
  4. why is it? Fonz has only played about 4 times this season. We still have Heskey, Gabby and Bent who can play upfront. 4-2-3-1 4-1-2-2-1 4-4-2 4-4-1-1 4-3-3 4-2-1-3 4-0-6 are all still possible
  5. Glad Graham is getting a start, will be interesting to hear how he does.. Warnock not fit to wear the Reserves shirt.
  6. We look great going forward no problem with the formation, for what its worth I think Fonz is more suited to 4-2-3-1 (what we play) than Gabby or Heskey, maybe a loan to a team fighting relegation next season (I dont expect we will be - but please no stupid 'this old man is a clown so i wouldnt be surprised' shitty replies). At somebody like Blackpool, Wigan, QPR, Cardiff or indeed Leeds he could really come off and they are teams better suited to our new style (as ive said before, loaning players to teams like Stoke, SHA or Blackburn is pointless for us)
  7. Dodo - Corinthians (have to have Brazil in the database) Marco Verratti - Co-owned by 2 clubs Romelu Lukaku - Anderlecht (put 3m-or-so down then pay rest off after 40 matches if you have to) Axel Witsel - Standard is fairly cheap iirc Bueno (spanish striker, not great but will do a job) Macheda - loan Jack Cork Jack Rodwell John Fleck << Can play left wing, AMC, striker Connor Wickham Lewis Holtby Kakuta Staff: Robert Duverne (Villa) - Fitness 4.5 Stars Paul Winsper - Unattached - Fitness 5 Stars Harald Schumacher - Hard to get - GoalKeeping 5 Stars Steve Round - Everton - Assistant Manager - 4 Stars on most things (I have him on Tactics) Massimo Bonini - Defending 4 Stars Ventrone - Attacking, Defending, Shooting - 4 Stars Tosh Farrell - VERY CHEAP - 4.5 Stars Shooting Giambattista Venturati - VERY CHEAP - 4.5 Stars Fitness, 4 Stars Attacking and Shooting
  8. Thank god for this. Hopefully he will score a few, always seems like he will be good enough but never quite sure. Has a lot up top and is fairly speedy, may be a good replacement for Gabby uptop (if he doesn't get better). Not half as fast but a combo of speed, strength and a footballing brain (what this guy seems to have) could be much better for us as a lone striker than Gabby. (not saying Gabby should go, i love gabby but its, sadly, not looking good for him) Fonz just needs to capitalize on his potential. He looked lost on the wing vs Citeh (as hes not a winger) but showed a bit more of a spark than Gabby or Heskey did. But he looked very good vs Blues (oh my god that shot), but then still didnt get any game time. I think the purchase of Bent came at the very worst moment for Fonz to be honest had it been a bit longer till we signed him, I think Fonz would have had to have a run of games
  9. Did you see them vs Spurs? Or any other decent team this year? They pull it out of the bag when they need to, and they still need to. Will be a very very tough game imo. If we score first and dont sit back i think 4-1 Villa, their defence had gaping holes vs Spurs. If we sit back, get cocky or concede first a very edgy 2-1 villa possibly 2-2
  10. I have Marco Verratti in my most recent Villa game, can put a shift in in the prem towards end of first season. Just finished season 3 and he had a spell of games where he was my game changer really brilliant. He dropped off a bit towards the end of the season so i dropped him, but he's still only 21 I think and I think this season he will be a full starter. I did try and use the majority of the Villa squad for as long as I could with some fairly believable editions. -------------Ochoa Walker---Davies---Clark---Enrique -----------Sissoko---Delph Albrighton-----Ireland-----Young ------------------Fonz was my starting 11 for a while then went 442 with Lukaku and Fonz, got Llorente now (thought, for where I was at the time it was believable as Spurs did try and buy him recently) Trying to get rid of Sakho, great stats but hasnt gelled to the team, Clark consistently out performing him. ----------------Ochoa Walker---Davies---Clark---Dodo (bought when he was 17 first season) ----------Sissoko---Delph Albrighton------Verratti----Young -----------------Llorente Bench: Smithies, Phil Jones, NRC/Veloso (also hasn't fit in), Modric, Fonz, Lukaku, Bannan is how i line up now, trying to get Vertonghen in to replace Veloso/Sakho, Modric's just come in to replace Vargas (great signing but spent too much for him after 40 Appearances, so sold him for £15m after 39 games) Season2: 4th Prem 3rd Rnd FA Cup (Chelsea) Qtr Final League Cup (Baggies :'( ) Won Europa Cup Lost to Bayern in Super Cup Season 3: Just won Prem (on goal difference) and Champions League in Season 3 . Vs Lyon (who beat Madrid + Barca on the way - in fairness I had a relatively easy run) Lost to Chelsea in Fa Cup Final Gabby in my squad also, but coming to end of his contract, hes done well but I can't justify the £80k wages he wants. Majority of squad were on 50k till Sissoko contract needed renewing and wouldnt budge from 100k. everybody on 60k or less apart from Sissoko (100k) and Modric (80k). Got everybody on 4.5 year contracts so hoping to have the majority of my squad not asking for ridiculous wages for 4 years. (Verratti on 20k for next 5 years, same for Dodo, Great signings)
  11. Poznan fans are great tbf. Their away support for their under 12's is mindblowing lol. Its all about the culture of the club too.. It'd only take a few games of doing this to get it to catch on with the more casual fanbase. Where as now, starting a chant in the Trinity or Doug Ellis *have to say normally the North too, but Brigada seem to atleast be getting things started down there now* Normally gets you dirty looks from people around you, or told off by stewards
  12. Not sure where to put it.. but Vs Man City being there in the away stand. It was horrible watching that Poznan thing, it was very effective, fairly humourous and looked great from their point of view.. wish we could think of something similar (not saying start doing the Poznan...unless we score vs Citeh) but something similar that is weird
  13. think hes shown hes better than that to be honest and hope its not true. Could do with a loan I guess, maybe to Blackpool again (for when they lose Adam) until January maybe or possibly the season...if they stay up. Championship is above his level would like to see him in our squad a bit more to be honest.
  14. I can confirm that I am not playing in defence for this match.
  15. Cuellar will be out for another 2 weeks if him being out for 4 weeks is true i think? Walker---Collins---Baker---Young Cuellar in for Baker (then switch Cuellar & Collins) if he is fit
  16. Liking the Downing song, definitely needs one.. Also can we stop with the Suuuper Super Marc song and just replace it with the Barbra one: http://gobarbra.com/hit/new-c578e5f276e4c25a347e5e54c2bf814e That, Bent, Ashleys, Gabbys, Makouns (Rihanna - if it ever gets going) and Downings new one would be much better imo. All very easy to sing a long to, very easy to remember, all sound great (love singing Bent's) with a big crowd, all sound 'happy' i guess and as a side note.. the speed of the songs for Gabby, Bent, Ash, Downing and Marc's 'Barbra' one match the players' . Sounds much better than the tired tune to the 'suuuuper super marc', although I concede that it is good for calling him to be brought off of the bench.
  17. Put simply, Barcelona vs Arsenal (i think it was that game) Barca had 10 players on the pitch at one point that were all home grown. I believe Messi was the one of the very few homegrown players included that werent from the Barca/Catalan area. They dont put something in the water over there that breeds world class footballers. Their Youth Set-Up breeds world class footballers. Even Xavi has said that maybe 3 of Barca's under 10's team can make it as footballers. This is the direction football as a whole (and English football more so with the media pressure on the FA and Government to start creating more talent + Fifa Financial Fair Play rules, which allow you to spend as much as you like on youth development whether it puts you in the red or not) is going. And I'm glad we're getting a head start on the majority of sides in the PL. Arsenal and Man UTD have good youth set ups/scouting networks already. Im not sure about Spurs' and Liverpools (although the latter generally always produce one or two good/great footballers from their area). Citeh I am sure will go the same way as Chelsea in that they will buy all of the best players. Win quite a bit for a few years and compete very well.. then in 5/6 years realise their squad is too old, will have an injury crisis as a result and will have no younger players to fall back on - like Chelski have this season. Gardner, Grealish, Graham, Siegriest, Albrighton, Clark are all tipped to be great players. Baker, Bannan and Fonz tipped to make it, possibly be very good. ---------------Siegriest Walker-----Clark----Baker----??? ----------Gardner---Delph Albrighton-----Bannan-----Grealish/Graham ------------------Fonz Apart from the ever-illusive Left-back our young players are so incredibly promising. yes they may not have all grown up through Villa (Walker, Delph) But may not be getting their club (or in Walkers case - International) starts without us. It isnt too out landish that in four or 5 years we too could have a mostly home-grown starting 11. Lichaj, Devine, Herd, Hogg etc all have something to prove but are promising.
  18. So... we're going to loan him to ourselves? Beat me to it :/
  19. Well I dont think he is currently good enough to start for us. So maybe loaned to a lower table side who are in need of a CM Umm... We are a lower table side who are in need of a CM.
  20. Quite simply a must win. If we dont we stand a very real chance of going down this season as Wolves will be drastically catching us up as will all of the other teams, Blues have 2 games in hand and Wolves could catch us up by 3 points by the end of this game. If that happens, we are extremely deep in the mire as our last 2 games are Liverpool and Arsenal. Again, 3 points and if results go our way we can start looking up the league, but tbh looks as though we're just aiming mid table now. For me, -----------Friedel (no other real choice Walker---Collins---Clark---Young --------------NRC---Makoun Albrighton-------Young-----Downing -------------------Bent Bench: Guzan, Baker, Delph, Bannan, Gabby, Petrov, Heskey
  21. I have held off on this since wednesday. But the tactics on wednesday didnt pay off on wednesday and they didnt pay off at all today. Young looked again a spoilt brat turning the ball away from Bent for the penalty, he got brought down if he didnt dive he should give the ball to someone else, if you get taken down in the box you shouldnt be taking such a big opportunity moments later unless you dived and you quite simply shouldnt be diving in the box, you should be taking a shot. I want a refund for my ticket on Wednesday. I spent over a hundred pound going to that game, which is not something I think the club should be bothered about but the money i spent on the ticket was a complete waste, nothing paid off and we now have another 2 weeks off after 2 disgusting losses.
  22. Chelsea have to win. They will do because they quite simply have to. Everton away is a mixed bag, never know what everton is gunna show up, in a good run of form so will undoubtably lose it vs Blues knowing our luck.. saying that maybe Everton not winning is a goo dthing for us as they will overtake us for sure if they do.
  23. I think it all comes down to how much money Randy will be giving the manager. If it is Houllier and he is trusted to make the right signings (as he should do and has proven he can do) I think he should stay. Like Ireland said, a player is convinved to come here for the manager, he wanted to play for MON (yes i know his quote was inaccurate). Do we want to be in a position where Makoun (and Bent, but much less so) cant perform in the role for another manager? If Houllier is given the funds to sign a squad that will revolve around Houlliers men (aslong as they are much more adaptable to new management than MON's men, who quite clearly could only play to a 6th standard under MON) then i think he should stay, he wont be here for years and years hence why they should be adaptable. One thing for sure is that Youth are willing to perform for him. When i think about our best performers this season as a whole, I think of Clark, Walker, Albrighton, Bannan in places, NRC (who fell out with the last management), Makoun, Bent and Downing (who was injured too much to be playing well last season) and more recently, Delph. As a whole, this shows me that Youth can perform well under Houllier and that the players he brings in will perform well for him too. If he can replicate this over the summer. He SHOULD stay. Bring in some decent french players and some more continental players and i'll be ecstatic. ---------------------------------------Mandanda (lol) Walker---StrongDef(Sakho-type player)---Clark---Taiwo/Tabanou/M'Bengue ----------------------------------Makoun---Sissoko Albrighton------------------Hazard-type/Young/Bannan-------------------Downing ------------------------------------------Bent Bench: Guzan, Dunne, Baker, Slim Gabby, Winger, Delph, NRC Squad: Herd, Hogg, Fonz, Fofana, Weimann, Cuellar, Siegriest, Lichaj (With Fofana, Herd, Baker, Fonz and a few others being under 21 that would give us a 24 man squad with around 10 brought through the club and loads being trained by English clubs before the age of 21) I would then set about replacing Dunne, Cuellar, Lichaj, Hogg, Guzan NEXT summer. Can fully see us challenging where we should be again with a more than respectable English balance in the squad where we could be proud of ourselves for being throughly British but also have enough International flair to be competetive wages/talent wise. By late next season/Early 2012/13 we would be able to compete again properly.
  24. Can you open the ports so i can join? Cant find a usable version of Hamachi for mac anywhere... just a Terminal Version... and i dont want to mess about in terminal as i'll **** my comp up
  25. Right cant we request special permission to sign a defender? Most other teams wouldnt look to their youth prospects at times like this. With Dunne, Cuellar, Collins and by all accounts Beye and Warnock out. Can we not ask the FA special permission to sign a defender? Even on loan as a backup would be fine as they will come looking to prove something. A real bastard of a defender, tall strong and doesnt give a **** about getting stuck in. just does it. Would be perfect to fit along side Clark for atleast the next month.
