  1. Burnley 0 - 3 Millwall. Only read the BBC Match Report. Sounds as though Fonz was their best striker. Had a header come off the bar and was fouled on his way through goal, giving burnley a free kick. Not been on the burnley boards to see how they thought of him. He was substituted on the 68th minute.
  2. 'the other year' being the operative words there. + Robinho was a total failure at Citeh anyway. The other year Roque Santa Cruz scored 19 goals and was looking like a top striker. The other year in the 24 starts Nikola Zigic had for Racing Santander and Valencia he scored 17 goals. The other year is bullshit.
  3. Hes by no means an 'awful' player either. He's an awful cunting nobhead but hes not an awful player
  4. Man City only got £6m for him and that was as part of another deal. Since then he has been a monumental fuckup. Unless he has a storming end to the season we wont be selling him for £6m nevermind £8m 'at least'
  5. I started to do this but got bored. At least now we can do this ourselves without pestering the General before every game. Quite encouraging if your calculations are correct. I got to around 3,200 I believe working anti clockwise from the North Stand to the Holte.. Started front row of the Doug Ellis and accidentally 'Cleared' my calculator so I just guessed at the rest of the stand after brushing over it quickly. somewhere between 4&5k.. should be close to a sell out
  6. But if they didnt come back up... or faltered into the mire like Charlton or Southampton.... who would we sing about?
  7. As an aside to the above, is it possible for us to have a bigger insight to the scouting process/network? Where it is going and any developments we can expect in the youth program?
  8. lmao! I haven't seen the goals yet. Was at work during the game and was so annoyed afterwards I never bothered with MOTD... cant see a HQ Video thread for the Bolton game... do we have vids of the goals? Or am i being blind and just missing the HQV thread?
  9. Wow. Was considering this but not at £34. Man City Away was £36 ffs, its not in London and they are doing shit this year... why £34? ahwell, save up for the Arsenal game
  10. One of Baker or Cuellar will make it. Please no dicking around with Lichaj our defense is bad enough as it is, without trying a Rightback out at Left back who is also under 20. Walker---Cuellar---Collins---Young Or Walker---Collins---Baker---Young if Carlos doesnt make it.
  11. Unfortunately, I presume so. Its a culture we need to rid from the club.. but having recently started going to away games (i never did before). Its easier to spot that there will be agroup, normally either a relatively large group of young lads - who probably only know a few songs and want to start a chant. Or the seriously weird/drunken older guys who have been starting chants all day.. but are there by themselves who start the Birmingham chants off. Thats from my own personal experience anyway.. admittedly ive only been to two away games (both the recent Manchester ones) but it appears that if its quiet.. the chant catches on very quickly. If we are already very loud with chants, the SHA one seems to falter and not catch on. I always try and start a different chant everytime I hear an SHA one building up.
  12. does Andy work for SI or something? What about the bids for Emir Sphahic
  13. Even if there is a callin amongst fans to get the place rocking at 2.30? for the sake of the club?
  14. I was just adding up on the OS... Around 4,500 tickets left for sale.. not bad with 10 days to go. Could be as close to full as its been this season (Away sales not included)
  15. We cant get through ANY game without singing about SHA, let alone progressing further in the Champions league in our debut season.. so lets not be hypocrites.
  16. as long as we are much better next year than this year, he should definitely go to a lower prem side for the season. maybe till January but I think the entire season is better
  17. All the best players know they are good. He just needs game time. Ballotelli is the laziest bastard of a footballer I have ever seen but even he scores for fun. I agree maybe Fonz is being cocky when he hasnt given anybody a reason as to why he is cocky. The lads only 20 and spent the last 2 or 3 years with people calling him the new Thierry Henry or the new Drogba. Even something as stupid as the fact he becomes an absolute world beater on football manager (presuming he or at the very least, his mates have played the game). I would have an inflated ego too. He just needs to get some game time and keep trying to progress, if he doesnt try and progress we wont even remember him in a few years. But he has the ability to be a very good player
  18. Lmao DodgyKnees. Barry Static.. John Fleck (Left, Centre), Shaqiri(RL), Alex Chamberlain, Bebe(RL), Marco Verratti (AMC), Bannan (Re-train as AMC) for young 'uns AMRL. Or Modric is a quality signing as he can play any of the 3.
  19. Yes its a lot of criteria. But its premiership management not just an ordinary job. The board were looking for somebody that could do most of those. They found it in Houllier. The people that arent happy's common gripes/moans are: He doesnt respect the club ( i think he does) He fell out with players He's old (younger than redknapp and SAF though) He works part time as a clown (this is from ITK Marcavfc) The defence is poor. So i added criteria in for that. Houllier has brought with him attractive football, a better attitude to the youth system from the previous management and a much better sensability in the transfer market. Not wanting to lose the good/great attributes Houllier has brought to the club.. would we not want the new guy to continue with those things? So i added those in too. No most managers dont fit all the criteria. Hence why experience is key. Also only great managers would fill all those criteria... I have no problem with us having a great mananger. If a manager misses one or two of those points then he should be considered...if somebody fits all or the vast vast majority of them, he should be next in line to the job. Mark. On your post. Houllier is good with the youth, how can you say he is poor at that? He has vast experience in top flight football. both in this country and others. We have been playing nice, attractive, attacking football. Not saying we're barca but it is good. He has been good in the transfer market. On the defence I will concede he has been poor and his backroom team is not filled with the appropriate number/quality of coaches. I disagree on respect of the club.. but i understand those who disagree with me on that
  20. Agreed. Not what we need imo. Young and Hungry managers go to Championship/Lower prem sides and work their way up. Thats the natural order of things. I'd rather somebody proven
  21. Yeah in honesty I meant to say most of the above, as those are 2 major problems with Houllier, hence why I even put the defence one there in the first place. 2 people mentioned Van Gaal, I wrote this about him before my thread got moved here: Somebody in the generals thread mentioned:
  22. Im not sure this thread will stay open. But there is a very vocal minority of fans who continuously call for Houlliers head. THIS IS NOT A HOULLIER THREAD. But who would we have to replace him? It's all very well calling for somebody to be sacked. But who would we replace him? There are certain criteria that both us and the board would need to fill. This is not an easy check-list for somebody to fill. Some of the names i hear bandied about are not suitable.. maybe some of them are from OUR point of view, giving a young manager a chance who is good at getting results and getting the best from a team (Lambert for instance). Would be accepted by many fans (not me personally). But would he meet the criteria above? Whether a fan of him or not. Houllier has been proven to do all of the above. He may not be doing a great job result wise or he may have fallen out with some players (one who should never wear the shit, not Houlliers fault, Carew who had his career stunted by Hou at Lyon) etc. But the rest of the checklist. He fits. Atleast on paper. Now not getting into the Houllier debate. Who else could we get - realistically - to meet these criteria?
