Completely disagree with the bad reviews Bent is getting today, young didnt get a pass to him properly all game really.. kept over hitting them and Bent got the blame. Guarantee that if Young hadn't scored 2wice he would get the blame for it.. as a team if young hadn't overhit those passes all the time it wouldve been 6,7,8-1 not 4-1. He was in the right position everytime, could have easily scored 2wice at end of first half if it wasnt for Pederson and Robinson, was robbed both times and very unfortunate not to hve the ball fall to him. both times, other than those - for me atleast - Young gets the blame as he just could not give him the ball at the right pace, position and thoughts were perfect every single time, but the paces was always wrong. Had Young been better at his through balls today Bent would almost definitely have scored. 4 atleast brilliant chance just from overhit passes, 6 if we include those where he was unlucky

Also, the attendance today was not too bad [34,500] considering only 15 Blackburn fans turned up

Just got back I think people moaning about Bent didn't realise just how hard Ashley was hitting those balls. Every time Bent made the right run was in a great position, Young was also always in the right position, making the right balls but it was always just that bit too far ahead of Bent. Bent very unlucky not to score when Robinson took it from his toes and also when the ball got tangled in his + their defenders legs.. Unlucky but feel he'd have put Heskeys chance away. Walker looked superb was never near him to see him defensively, but 2nd half coming forward I was right next to him and he looked brilliant. Albrighton - okay, good spells took a few shots where he should have passed but if he's gunna try, id ratehr her tried at 3-0 up i guess. It will come in time. Fantastic performance as a team, passing was brilliant, hopefully the start of a corner turn. BUT. when we conceded, it looked to be falling apart straight away, they instantly had a few chances and could have got to 3-2 and would have been very nervy, defence seemed to lose confidence pretty quick. Once our 4th went in we were comfortable (yes only few minutes inbetween but think it would have been horrible 10 minutes if we hadn't got the 4th.) Great performance, defence needs to keep working hard and not drop their heads too quickly.

Who is Bannon? I'd play ------------Friedel Walker---Dunne---Clark---Baker ------------NRC---Bannan Albrighton----Young----Downing ----------------Bent But would be very worried about Clark, Baker and Bannan all being on that side of the pitch defensively, especially only with Mr. Pull-Out-Of-50-50's Downing there to support them. Can see Petrov back in the mix for this one, maybe bringing bannan on at 60 87 minutes.

Can we recall Lichaj? If Walker or Baker got an injury and Young isn't fit soon we could be **** at the back

I've done it before and it is quite good always try and bring through my own players that also play in my club side too though, get worried if i dont bring them through then they'll start getting annoyed at me lmao.. Just lost out on the job to Candleface

Clark has been my most consistent performer for 2 seasons, always gets in the defence (ahead of mamadou sakho to boot). None of his mistakes had ever led to a goal. Made him vice-captain and suddenly he cant tackle to save his life.

Can he the stats would tell you the complete opposite and that his attempted tackles and successful completion rate are shit. Yes he can tackle very well. not saying he's up for a role at Centre-Half but he can tackle very well. But in his 2 and a half games you've seen him in he hasn't showed it. But there was me thinking we gave players a little while to settle in.. never mind. Also tackles attempted vs completed just tells me he puts in a lot of tackles and isn't scared to tackle.. some people are forgetting that the reason he made the stupid challenge was because he was making up for somebody else (I believe it was Downing, may have been Petrov) not putting a tackle in.. not saying it was a good decision to go in two footed but still..

Think we should drop this now as it was a deserved red, he made a mistake and that mistake imo was cause because he was having to make up for other players' mistakes. Imo he took one for the team, bad challenge, but atleast he's not pulling out of 50:50's like other players. He can tackle very well, i just hope this hasn't knocked his confidence as when he gets booked in a game he seems to get much more worried than other players do and holds off on challenges a lot of the time (not saying its a bad thing as it should mean less red cards).. but getting a red in his first few games could be worrying for his confidence to put a tackle in. But think the red card issue has been played out on this thread now lol

Llorente was shocking for a year. Signing him ruined me last season. Was unbeaten in 26 and comfortably 1st, lost a few strikers to injury so put in a big bid for Llorente, he came and was shit, I lost loads and got knocked out of all the cups, Randy was practically bankrupt And been 3-6 this season. Dont think there are any easy macthes. but if it was Villa i'd be hoping for Shakhtar, Roma, Copenhagen, Shalke or even Valencia instead of Man U, Barca, Real etc.. No easy games but some are definitely easier than others.

I hope they draw Shakhtar or Shalke. Really would like to see them win the thing. Desperately hoping Chelsea or Man City (or both) don't qualify for the CL this year.. with new UEFA rules next season on spending it would potentially ruin them especially if they didn't manage it again next season.

Ireland has an appalling attitude when he came to us. It was werid from the off, he never wanted to come to us and was practically forced out at Man City, yes that doesn't bode well for us but he just needs some time to get back into the game. He hada great season under Hughes but he would never be given a chance after Sheikh came in. We will see what he is made of at Newcastle. I personally don't hold much hope for him being able to return to our club. If he performs well I would expect Newcastle to buy him for £6m. If he does poorly I suspect we will be lumbered with him. If he does somewhere in the middle I expect us to take him back and give him another chance next season. I really hope he comes good because he would be a huge asset to us if he was in form and if we can get some form out of him it could save us some money in the Summer window. Young + Ireland fighting for the place in the hole would be perfect (ideally Ireland). Doesn't mean having to push Young out of the squad. We are so used to having a Starting 11 and then a bunch of high-paid crap behind that starting 11 it seems to me that some of us don't ever register the need for rotation (could be said our managers have always forgotten the concept too). I hate using Tottenham as an example but they are the closest thing to us. Same goals and same formation. ---------------Striker Winger--------AMC-------Winger ------------Mid----Mid Fullback---Def----Def---Fullback For those crucial 3 positions behind the striker they have: Bale, Pienaar, Modric, VDV, Krancjar, Lennon, Bentley (On Loan). We only have: Young, Albrighton, Downing, Ireland (on Loan). My point is, even with our current players, we - ideally - need another winger who can play both sides. On paper Ireland and Young *should* be our best players behind the Striker (IMO Downing and Albrighton have been). Selling them both shouldn't be an option unless we have investment in place to replace them both + 1. I think we can make do with what we have at the moment. But if we are serious about Europe. Whether it is Europa League or Champions League we need more rotation in our squad. For me that means 2 For in the hole (minimum) and 4 on the wings (including AMC players who can play on the wing). (before anybody moans at me again saying we need to concentrate on defence - I agree but shouldn't forget other areas of our squad)

Not an indictment on the transfer itself as I think everybody unanimously agrees it was a fantastic signing regardless of who instigated it. Also no indictment on Houllier's transfer market ability as, again, I think we all agree tremendously that he is a very good manager in terms of signing new players and the ones that have been brought in thus far (Pires not included) have been very good. would just be interested to know the clubs standing on current and future transfers.
