My thoughts on Hourihane. I really rate is technical ability and his workrate. He is one of my favourite villians however.. We have a system within our midfield three. 1 - Engine - McGinn 2 - Creative - Grealish 3 - Glue i.e holding player and retainer The 3 position is difficult because we need someone that can win the ball, and retain possession with a variety of range in passing. Now against lesser teams it does not necessarily matter but better against opposition it does. Honestly I feel that Hourihane and Mcginn should be competing for the same position. Bjarnason is a player that suits that third position well at this level and we are missing him.

That is an interesting topic. Is Bunn a better keeper than Nyland? The way I feel right now that number 1 under his name should be ripped from his shirt.

We will not get promoted if we continue to defend like this. 7 goals conceded in two games? I haven't rated Nyland since the few games into August. He does not have the mentality and ability to play at this level. Chester appears to be dwindling and he is not commanding against better opposition. Taylor is trying but he lacks the athleticism and ability in that position. Having said that coaching staff need to do something with this defence until Jan.

This game has solidified that offensively we are the real deal. However because our style is risky we are also conceding a lot through the middle. I am concerned about our defence especially for this 6/7 game run in that we are about to embark on.

This probably one of the best away performances I have witnessed as a villa fan. Last one was Liverpool away and even that game was like a bit of a smash or grab. We totally outclassed the opposition in the 2nd half. Crisp passing of different variety, players moving off the ball and creating openings. I also don't think that this is a one off. There are plenty more things that we can build upon but my gosh that was the exciting piece of football I have seen from this Club in a long time. - 21 shots - 82.2% passing - 53.4% - 18 key passes - 62 recoveries Yes please!

The scouting team need to keep an eye on clubs like exeter because they keep producing these quality young players from their academy. Hopefully we are scouring the lower leagues for talent because we can build a solid base for years to come.

It's really about spending wisely in the premier league. Fulham spent 100 million in transfers and are bottom in the league. I think that we would need a blend of premier league players and some 2-3 top 6 quality players.

23 goals conceded in 16 games is bad no matter how you see it. There are no stand out teams in this league however the teams that are challenging for promotion are better collectively than ourselves. If we can get through the next 6 games with 12 points then my view would change but at this moment I cannot see us winning away against some of those teams.

I don't think we will get promoted this season I think defensively we are weak and we need to score more than we concede. I also think we lack a real height and presence in the CB position. Currently we are relying on Abraham to defensive win headers from set pieces.

Neil Etheridge was coached by him at Walsall and became No1 at Cardiff City. He’s playing premier league football now.

I still don't rate him. And I do not want him in goal against the blues.. He will make a howler.

Very interesting interview. Analysis during half time, showing players video clips. He felt that we could have played better. He also mentioned that our wingers were getting inside too much and eating up space for Grealish in the centre. Based from that post match interview i believe that we will be signing a new keeper or at least attempting to. Our style has changed drastically in 4 matches. He is a breathe of fresh air and I feel excited for the future.

Since when have we started zonal marking?

For a player that does what he does for 8 million.. We can find that abroad. Why bring in a sporting director if we're looking at signing Bannan

Watford & Bournemouth look incredible this season. Pereyra & Deulofou are so creative on the flanks for Watford. Bournemouth have the youth and pace in their side and are exciting to watch.

Brentford have a better defence than us thats a fact. Brentford have players that fit that system because they have the qualities to suit that style i.e first touch and awareness ect. We have talented players but from my perspective i feel that maybe 4-5 players fit his system. We need more that a CB and a LB. We are very imbalanced on the width and our wide players are suited to hugging the touchline and playing crosses. We do not have wingers that cut inside, link with midfielders with short passing and create open space for players. I do agree that some of our errors can be sorted on the training ground but we have played a quick succession of games with a two day break in between all three. I am anticipating further improvement at the Bolton game because there will be more time spent with the players on BMH.

Question. Would you consider him in a left back role? Surely he could do better than Taylor until the transfer window opens?

I would be very disappointed if we are not as patient with him as we were with Bruce. This appointment made me very skeptical.. But now I have brought into the idea of a young British manager from Great Barr who supports Villa and prides himself with a good attacking philosophy. I admire teams like bournemouth that do not change their identity and have been built from the core by their manager.
