Please start other threads (or using existing ones) for discussion of particular games. Thanks.
  2. The FA's concerned will pay for the players to have new passports (or more likely will have done so when the team travelled to Israel). StanBalaban asks a good question on behalf of the fans though. I wonder whether Israeli customs officials think that many people only visit there and nowhere else, as all they see are brand new passports.
  3. I've mentioned it before, http://www.secularism.org.uk/ Secularism is the separation of religions from the state. Nothing more no matter what the religious might suggest. There are many religious members of the society, presumably because they recognise that secularism is the only way to guarantee their religion a future. Another way to word it is that rights granted by the belief in any particular magic book(s) do not override ANY of the rights that someone else has, whether they share your beliefs or not. I want religion out of state education. I want an end to tax breaks for all religions where they receive them simply for being religions (if they want charity status then they can become charities). I want (English only, male only) bishops out of the house of lords. I want to see law of the land always being more important than people's feelings. Ultimately I want disestablishment but I think it'll have to be small steps while politicians still seem to think that the increasingly tiny religious minority matter. Sign up and get involved.
  4. You buy things which use open standards. Sadly, and it is sadly, that's not remotely true. The same sweathshops and sweatshop conditions in which stuff for the likes of apple are made, also are used by manufacturers who put open source google software on, or Linux. It's a fair point to say to all of these multi billion businesses, that their, or their sub-contractors treatment of labour is not either ethical, or in accord with their so called branding. ANd it applies not just in tech, but in so many industries Ah re-reading I think I misinterpreted Kingfisher's post. I thought it was complaining about lock in.
  5. I had a 9000, it's direct successor (9000i?) and the 9210. (Bear in mind, from the same meaning of bear as to carry a load)

In England and Wales, the act you refer to is the "Limitations Act". Toasters aren't electronic. They are mechanical and electrical. I wouldn't expect a toaster to last much past the manufacturer's warranty. There is a lot of precedent that high end electronic items are expected by the "reasonable man" of the SoGA to last more than six years.
  7. I'm not sure it's an ethical thing. If you want to avoid lock in, don't buy things which lock you in.
  8. You buy things which use open standards.
  9. Advertising isn't simply for direct sales. If it didn't work then someone else would have to pay for the internet.

I remember a discussion when I said MS would want to make you download everything. Hmmm. I owe Acorns £100 and will sort it out in the next week.
  11. If you are using Chrome, it defaults to inserting formatting. Use CTRL-SHIFT-V instead of CTRL-V to paste the link and that;ll probably sort the issue.
  12. It's a fault in the imessage software. This is one of the many reasons that sensible people turn imessage off. I guess Apple own your device and as you'd never want to leave them they assume that what you are describing is impossible. I'm sure it'll expire after a while. It's the kind of trick that Apple pull to make it hard to leave, horror stories like this keep people being good little isheep . I've done some searching and your messages will still be going to one of your Apple devices, possibly one you've sold (hopefully you did a full factory reset). You need to turn off iMessage on all your devices, even if the devices have been turned off for months. Especially if you have an ipad. It's a new feature in iOS7 (presumably called "screw them some more").. And you are right, this should be in one of the Apple threads, but probably not the fanboi only one.
  13. Indeed, only two media embeds per post.

DNA doesn't have any mutations, but I think I know what you are trying to say. Younger siblings can have actually have cells containing their older siblings' DNA.
  15. But they don't. You never were their customer and you'll still be seeing their ads, they'll just be less well targeted.
  16. There are many candidates, but yes, this. No backups needed, no viruses, no USB sticks and you can export in Word format, PDF or publish it as a web URL if you have to deal with the unenlightened.
  17. The one on the left or the right?
  18. Because the cost of access is you and your personal details, not viewing the ads. The ads are to pay Google's bills, not yours. When a service is "free" to you, then you are the product of that service. Google can get more value from you if it knows you better, therefore they continue to integrate their services. This is also the reason they need to keep this data secure. Their business model breaks if they sell/share/leak your data.
  19. Do you understand that these are Google's toys and if you want to play then they set the price. As long as you aren't required to use the services I don't understand why you are concerned. No-one is making you use them. For me, I think it's a reasonable price. I'm aware that Google track everything I do anyway and as long as their business model means that they need to keep the data secure, I'm happy. I rarely use facebook now as I don't understand how they can make money without abusing (rather than using) my personal data. I'm comfortable where I've set my threshold and I understand Davkaus's position (it used to be mine). I don't understand yours. You want to use these services, but don't want to pay the price set by their owner. Davkaus is saying, "I'm not going to eat in your restaurant", you seem to be saying, "I want to eat in your restaurant but I don't want a bill". Do you think others should provide these things for free?
