On my little desk calender at work I have lots of letters next to dates to remind me of things, like W for wedding, HM for half marathon etc.

For the past week I've been wondering why I've got F's on several Tuesdays over the next few months, I can't remember what they are or.

13th June, 18th July, 22nd August, 26th September, 31st October. All five weeks apart.

It's driving me mad. I'd guess it was someone in my office winding me up, but it looks like my writing.

I've just got an email reminding me that I'm on Fire Marshall duty tomorrow! Forgot I'd signed up to that.

I had my comeuppance the other week. A woman (that I've been throwing grapes at today) left a small square sample of fence spikes on my seat.

I didn't see it, but I definitely felt it. Apparently I went bright red.

'Tis sport to see the engineer hoist by his own petard.

We had some people of the Irish Traveler variety roll into town today with a bunch of caravans in tow - one older gentleman brought his tractor around to the gate of the community green and parked up there - he then proceeded to get his other tractor, hay-balls included and dumped a whole load of hay-balls at every entrance to the green. After trying to burn their way through said balls the folk packed up their caravans and moved on.

It pisses me off that the older gentleman got ticketed by the police for parking his vehicle wrong in front of the gate rather than the police ticketing the same folk who literally turned the green into a pigsty this time of year last year. I fail to understand how hard it is to ticket someone when you have proof of them breaking the law last year and they are standing right in front of you. PC police strikes again.

Last year's cleanup bill came to a staggering 27k, which of course came out of the local council budget and will never be reclaimed. Good on the farmer.

We get that here all the time.  Basically the travellers are outside of the system, and good luck finding them again, or getting anything off them.  Whereas the older gentleman is an easy target and won't fight back and will probably pay whatever the charge is.  It's not right, but the police want an easy life too, and they know the traveller is anything but an easy life.

Yeah, there's already been a whole lot of money given to the farmer to help pay the parking bill. He's declined. I think he wanted to make a statement - and I hope it's deterred them for the next year - however I'm sure they've rolled into someone else's quaint village and done exactly the same thing as we speak. Speaking to the farmer he had death threats, threats of burning down his farm, killing his wife and all his cows while he was doing said blocking of access - however the police just stood by and did nothing.

Apparently there are bailiffs in the UK that specialise in getting rid of these sorts of people - you must have to be mental to go into that sort of job.

People at work moaning that there isn't enough cutlery.

Not in the proper canteen, just in our little office kitchen.

Bring your own **** cutlery in then!!
Same people moaning about it every day.

If it wasn't the cutlery it would be another thing.

I am sure most of my workplace just come here for a good old moan, they don't seem to have much of a social life and their kids have had grown up and left them so there isn't much else to do. Bless them.

Police hate getting involved with travellers in any way.  Particularly even moreso over here now since they've recently been given an ethnic minority status with unique cultural heritage (do they ****).

As my old man always said, if you're struggling to get rid of them "sure they hate the smell of petrol".

Yeah I've heard horror stories of the problem in Ireland. One client of ours in my old job said they stole his dog. When he went around to the local traveler's camp he got beaten up. He showed the police and they did nothing, he then proceeded to steal the dog back upon which the travelers reacted by burning down his house. The police again did very little but warn him that they'll be back in some days to gut his house of wiring and metal. What sort of system is that? It's not like they are Roma, the Roma want nothing to do with them..

He got a strongly worded reply back!

I'm right to be annoyed by this, right?

I reckon it's their quarter end. If you sign the paperwork in June he hits his target for the quarter, if you sign it in July it rolls over to Q2. If you are going to sign for it early, use that to your advantage and ask for a discount....... ;)

You've not signed the financing documents yet? I'd make him very aware that you still have the option of taking your business elsewhere, and he needs to sort his attitude out. :)

Salesmen don't get to tell you that you "need" to do a goddamn thing, that's not how this relationship works at all.

Nope. I've paid a £500 deposit, that's it.

And yes, I have no issue telling him to **** off if he is going to take value off my part ex. I don't want to lose that £500, but I'm assuming if I genuinely threaten to walk away now he'll back down.

I'm sure you're right, but I literally can't sign for it early though. I'm leaving early Friday morning, and he said I could only come in after Wednesday. I don't have time. Wednesday is my mom's birthday and Thursday I'll be busy packing and shit. So even if I wanted to go early I can't.

That's before I even go into how inconvenient it would be for them to sort out my transport for getting to the airport.

To be fair to him, English isn't his first language, so his email might have been more pushy than he intended.

But at no point did he offer an option, or ask if it was ok if I went early or anything. He just told me what I "needed" to do.

As previously stated here it sounds like he's chasing his Q2 bonus. I'd kindly tell him that you can walk away at any point and he'll quickly change his tune. Sounds like he's had some very watered out challenger sales training and thinks that he can steer your emotions and the conversation. Not a good idea with any customer.

I'm eagerly awaiting his reply today

Of course.  it's the car industry.  They have all the tricks in the book.  You never win against them.
