TheDrums
At the time I was convinced Luke Moore was on the verge of being a superstar Such a shame Lol, yeah his hattrick against Boro.
CI
He had it all other than determination, drive and the right attitude Similar to his brother who plays park football now
TheDrums
Last I heard about his brother was he was a taxi driver.
CI
No, Stefan was playing lower non league Possibly driving a cab too
TheDrums
Yes, I had heard he was playing lower football, and also driving a cab. What a shame. Early fame goes to your head and then its a downfall from there if you don't put the work in.
PauloBarnesi
He’s supposedly on quite a big salary at St Neots; something like 30 in 39...
PauloBarnesi
I think the third game in the first season was West Ham away; really enjoyed that, even if it was a draw...
CI
He's at St Neotts Town, highest paid player in league My mate is chairman of St Ives Town, apparently he's still quite handy at this level
TheDrums
Wikipedia says he's 30 goals in 36. The Messi of that league.

Mantis
I just don't get how you can see O'Neill as mediocre, lucky to get Sunderland manager etc... he did an excellent job here, even if he left in an extremely poor way. I'd kill to have someone of his quality as our manager these days.I don't rate him, and everyone has different opinions you know. I think with the funding he had he did an ok job here, although his legacy leaves much to be desired. Personally I think MON is somewhat overrated on here due to the decline we've experienced over the past 18 months. Many people point to O'Neill's absence as the cause of that, but I don't agree at all.
NowDoINotLikeThat
The thing with MON is this is first time in his career there's few question marks about him given the way he left us etc.. Hes had time out the game and maybe re-asses any mistakes he made with us. A MON with a point to prove? Can only see that being a success at Sunderland
CI
He did a brilliant job, was brilliant for Aston Villa and I wish he was still here The club has been in a flat tailspin since he left
VillaAlex
CI to me you talk as if Martin O'Neill is bigger than Aston Villa, and that certainly isn't the case. I bet he likes to think that though, and the media seem to put it across like that too.

But yes the board have blundered big time from bad decision to bad decision. Faulkner's rise seems to run parallel to a lot of it as well
CI
In our recent history, he's the best thing we've had, since BFR IMO
kurtsimonw
I don't think MON would be doing all that great a job either without Young, Milner and Downing. Let's not forget that McLeish has had to sell far more than he's been able to buy in his time at Villa - and that's MON's fault.
NowDoINotLikeThat
Anyone else read the Pat Murphy article on BBC? This bit is notable :- "if O'Neill had been allowed to buy Scott Parker from West Ham for £6m in the summer of 2010 to replace Milner, he might still be Villa's manager." for fucksake! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15999771.stm

I still don't understand how they let the wages get into such a state and the club is suffering because of that. Did MON sign too many squad player on big wages? Yes of course, but the club is a shambles if no-one was able to recognise this as it was happening. As for those 3 players those are all players he signed and we sold for a big profit, hardly something to criticise him for.
