Zatman
great character again from the players but the football is **** awful again. Ireland wont qualify if play like that and if they do it will be another dreadful event like 2012 this group will go right to the wire though I really expect Germany to get a few gears in next few games Edited March 29, 2015 by Zatman
Meath_Villan
I thought it was a decent performance to be honest .....listening to liam brady on rte would sicken the bollix off ya trapatoni loving clearing in the woods
Zatman
the thing is though, we played like that under Trap as well. the football has been awful since McCarthy left in 2002
Meath_Villan
not a hope did we play like that under trapp ........I will say tho its time to put robbie out to pasture and dump whelan
Zatman
was this any different than Italy in 2009 away. similar outcome we played some great games under Trap, Italy twice, France obviously and a game in Slovakia we dominated at times and if Keane scored a penalty we would have easily beat them as for KEane I thought he looked dangerous around the box but useless if doesnt get service, still has a role but not as a starter
Meath_Villan
service was there crosses were coming in .....keane was waiting for the bounce of the ball to beat the defenders before he would pounce ....long came in and boom goal .......are you liam brady ? Zatman
Keane has never been a striker that relies on crosses though, I imagine he hasnt scored many with his head over the years. Im just an impartial observer
PaulC
Should Shane Long have been brought on sooner?
Meath_Villan
Shane should be first choice then bring on keane for the last 10mins .....or long will end up like another kevin doyle/clinton morrison has been
PaulC
Yes just think Keane has lost his legs and Long has the pace to get in behind the opposition
CarewsEyebrowDesigner
Keane lost his legs about 5 years ago!
VillaChris
There's definitely a sentimental feeling with some of the players...O'Shea, Keane, Given have all been starters since 2002 and are all still starters. You get the feeling if Dunne hadn't retired he'd still be starting games. I thought O'Neill was a poor choice to replace Trap as he's another who favours the old guard.
