Over the past 5 games, Rodgers is averaging 4.88 net yards (counting sacks) per attempt.  Splits happen and all that, but the only other starting QBs to have season averages below 5 in the past 5 years are named Gabbert, Tebow, and Bradford.

Great comment seen elsewhere: "RG3 (owed $16.5 million if he's on the opening day roster next season, and with only one year left) only has trade value if Chip Kelly is still in the league."

Will Gruden be the longest-tenured coach in the NFCE next season? Coughlin's probably not coming back, Kelly is a dead man walking, and you have to wonder if the injuries will be not enough of an excuse to save Garrett.

What's a timeout worth?

The biggest takeaways for me are that in general, you should always call a timeout when in FG range on 2nd or 3rd down, but on first down the 5 yard deficit is easily overcome. Also, that inside of 10 yards on 2nd or 3rd down you should call a timeout in the 4th quarter for practically the entire length of the field. Certainly not what I expected.

Interesting, but thats college ball instead of NFL. From what i gather (and the huge scoring) Moving the chains is alot easier in college football.

Its a friday so mind doesnt really want to think too hard about it but presume that means timeouts to save a delay penalty would be more valuable?

Basically. One flaw in the article is using college conversion rates and NFL win probabilities.

College football teams run more plays, due to a combination of faster tempo and the clock stopping for around 10 seconds after first downs.

How brilliant this article is.

Quote

After one of the worst picks in the first round I can ever remember, the Seattle Seahawks didn't draft any positions of need or draft for the future.

Pete Carroll is proving why he didn’t make it in the NFL the first time. Not only was Bruce Irvin a reach at No. 15, the Seahawks proved they were oblivious to their madness by celebrating their selection.

As if the day wasn’t bad enough, Seattle selecting Russell Wilson, a QB that doesn’t fit their offense at all, was by far the worst move of the draft. With the two worst moves of the draft, Seattle is the only team that received an F on draft day

Our 1st 3 rounds were Irvin, Wagner, Wilson.

Very good DE/LB, Top 2 MLB and Top 10 QB.

People get paid to write that.

Well, it was written after the 2012 draft, (which is apt, considering it's a 2012 NFL analysis) so I'd be worried if it was any more recent ;)

Thought it was pretty clear that I was making fun of the guy for saying it was a bad draft, when you look at the players he slated now.

Probably not, Bleacher report pays about 70 of its 7000 contributors (last figure I saw). Rest are just bloggers really
