Brumerican Posted January 8, 2011 Share Posted January 8, 2011 What about Downing playing in the hole? He is not so good defensively, but has creativity, I would try him in the hole. I have thought about this many times and don't see too many reasons why it wouldn't work. He can shoot, pick a pass and run past players and wouldn't have to be as defensive as he has to be on the wing. It would also allow Young and Marc in the same side. Reo-Coker is clearly just sitting in but still gives you that energy and gets round the pitch, while Bannan is really creating plenty in the middle. He may not be the player he was, but I think that there are numerous reasons for that, and people still expect too much of him. He's still one of our most dangerous players.
