Scotland squad

Goalkeepers: Scott Fox (Partick Thistle), Matt Gilks (Blackpool), David Marshall (Cardiff City)

Defenders: Christophe Berra (Ipswich Town), Gordon Greer (Brighton & Hove Albion), Grant Hanley (Blackburn Rovers), Alan Hutton (Aston Villa), Russell Martin (Norwich City), Charlie Mulgrew (Celtic), Lee Wallace (Rangers), Steven Whittaker (Norwich City)

Midfielders: Charlie Adam (Stoke City), Ikechi Anya (Watford), Barry Bannan (Crystal Palace), Scott Brown (Celtic), Craig Bryson (Derby County), Craig Conway (Brighton & Hove Albion), Gary Mackay-Steven (Dundee United), James McArthur (Wigan Athletic), Robert Snodgrass (Norwich City)

Forwards: Steven Fletcher (Sunderland), Steven Naismith (Everton), Ross McCormack (Leeds United).

Strachan will stick to the winning formula. It's strange to say "winning" in the context of Scotland but after victories against Croatia and Macedonia something right must be happening - I put that down to Bannan in midfield, and quality around him that he can feed, and feed off.

No, he got a proper assist, on Anya's goal. You can youtube it. Great pass. Perhaps it was against Croatia, not Macedonia.

Either way, another superb performance tonight. Won a couple of free kicks and set up Snodgrass who could have scored.

0-0 and just goes to show when Bannan plays the team is not weaker defensively. They're winners. Strachan's been playing Bannan right from the start and he's started winning more than he's ever been as a manager.

What's pathetic? Good news? Those interested in the progress of an ex-academy player think that this is good news. We don't want Bannan to fail. He's a credit to the academy and we valued his contributions last season helping get us out of trouble.

Harmony key for Bannan as midfielder hails 'club spirit' within Scotland camp

Bannan believes that club-like harmony has been the key to a recent upsurge in form, with Scotland approaching Friday night's friendly against the USA having won three of their past four matches.

Ironically, the only blip in that sequence was a fighting 3-2 defeat at Wembley against the aforementioned southern neighbours.
