Tony Butler on Radio WM is dreading it going through. Obviously he's read the Mail and is totally convinced that the first thing Randy's gonna do is sell the ground and build a casino on it.

Plus Randy doesn't talk to fans... the Browns have won bugger all... etc.. etc...

Trouble is there's a lot of fans who probably think like him.

Just so that everyone is clear, the Offer is subject to Lerner obtaining acceptances for at least 90% of the shares, or such lower figure as he may decide. Otherwise he is not obliged to acquire from Ellis & Gang. However, in my view, unless a much stronger offer comes along, this is a done deal.

Here it is Moonstone is right - he can get out unless he get the 90% - but he can choose to stay - it is all up to him.

Conditions of the Offer

The Offer will be subject to the following conditions:

(a) valid acceptances being received (and not, where permitted,

withdrawn) by not later than 1.00 p.m. (London time) on the first closing date of the Offer (or such later time(s) and/or date(s) as RAL may, subject to the rules of the Code or with the consent of the Panel, decide) in respect of not less than 90 per cent. (or such lower percentage as RAL may decide) in nominal value of the Aston Villa Shares to which the Offer relates and not less than 90 per cent. (or such lesser percentage as RAL may decide) of the voting rights carried by the Aston Villa Shares to which the Offer relates, provided that this condition will not be satisfied unless RAL (together with its wholly owned subsidiaries) shall have acquired or agreed to acquire (whether pursuant to the Offer or otherwise) directly or indirectly Aston Villa Shares carrying in aggregate more than 50 per cent. of the voting rights then normally exercisable at general meetings of Aston Villa, including for this purpose (except to the extent otherwise agreed by the Panel) any such voting rights attaching to Aston Villa Shares that are unconditionally allotted or issued before the Offer becomes or is declared unconditional as to acceptances, whether pursuant to the exercise of any outstanding subscription or conversion rights or otherwise.

FFS why do certain people think this and why are the mail reporting it.

Something good, positive, exciting and people are still trying to stop it from happening :(

Well let's say that Lerner doesn't get the magic 90% whats to say anyone else will?

You don't put the amount of effort in that he has to pull out so easily if 90% isn't met quickly.

He'll get the magic number and the club.....

I hope!

It won't matter mate.

It seems as though he may take official control of the club as soon as he gets Ellis'/Petchey's shares.

90% acceptances is just another level in which, he can, and will legally be required, to take full control of the club.

He can lower this 90% level to suit him. It's been rumoured that he may seek 75% acceptances.

IMO though, the club will be officiall confirmed as his on Wednesday unless their is a better bid lodged before then.

In the 70's Butler was an impressive and inventive broadcaster. he's now pasted his sell buy date and has been for many years. His whole programme is based around slagging people off and critisising someone.

Trouble is there's a lot of fans who probably think like him.

Randy is getting 599 of my 600 shares tomorrow.

I thought I'd keep 1, everyone else is 8)

I bought a small number when they were really cheap about £2 few years ago and gave some to the Trust as did many others.

I kept 10 plus I bought another 390 a couple of weeks ago through a Stockbroker. So that makes 400. Might keep 1 as a memento i'll see.

What's happening with all the shares the Trust have? Anyone know?

All this fuss about a supposed casino - it's hypocritical. So what if Randy does want to build a casino (assuming he gets permission/govt approval or whatever) - well the Birmingham Mail were all in favour of a casino for their little darling Blooz weren't they - now, all of a sudden, a vague rumour of one being built by Villa and it's complete outrage. Total hypocrisy. (Even if true -which is doubtful)
