Interesting how, since Rothschilds were appointed, that there haven't been any leaks to the press about the takeover. I take that as a sign that the whole thing is now being managed in a professional way.

Lol. No leaks cos nothing is happening. Comers have walked, there are no other buyers lined up. That's why it's quiet.

Would that not need to be annoinced to the stock exchange?

Seeing as the club announced that they were 'in a bid stuation'

No.

The offer is from AVIL - the Comers are just their backers. As such, they could have walked out from the deal, leaving AVIL desperately looking for financial backing while still having tabled an offer.

AVIL don't have to inform the stock exchange of anything until they give up finding support and withdraw the offer.

So ahamaad is right - the offer is still there. Whether it comes to anything or not, who knows?

West ham were subject to a bid from a middle eastern cosourtium, and after months nothing came of that.....

i do think that the comers have walked and that AVIL are searching for new backers.

lets face it, how long in all honesty would it take to buy a club?

you make an aproach, you look at the books, see how much profit/turnover the club is making, if all is well you make an offer, it is then up to the majority shareholder to recomend the offer to other shareholders.

in all honesty it should only take a month or so to buy the club.....

And it should only take a premier league football club a few days to sign a £1.5 million French midfielder - but it actually took the best part of 4 months................................ the Doug effect!

if you all look very carefully next time you go to VP, on the corner, on trinity road there is a corner shop name One Stop Villa or Villa One Stop... that is in fact what DOUG is running, not the Villa we´re talking about. He is Arkwright and DOL is Granville.

is that why they sell j-j-j-jamaican ginger cake in the club shop?

Wouldn't it be strange if Blues changed hands with new investment enabling them to build a new superstadium with hotels, casinos, accomodation, enabling them to have the Olympics whilst Ellis still prevaricates and yet again loses out.

Don't say that Malc......please don't say that..........

Mail repeats call for Villa answers Feb 9 2006

By Steve Dyson, Editor, Birmingham Mail

TODAY we repeat our call for Aston Villa to come clean on the club's future. Nearly three weeks ago, we reported how fans had become increasingly frustrated and mystified by the delay in news over the £64 million proposed takeover deal, fronted by Michael Neville on behalf of Brian and Luke Comer.

Fans were told that the takeover was set to be completed before Christmas and that manager David O'Leary would then have £20 million to spend in the January transfer window. Fans were misled, as nothing materialised.

On Friday January 20, we demanded answers from Villa in our page 1 comment. This provoked an immediate response, with Villa chairman Doug Ellis revealing later that same day that he had asked financial advisers Rothschild to find a buyer for the club, which included reviewing the Comer deal.

But since then there has been a deafening silence. Villa perhaps thought the announcement would placate restless fans and that we would go away.

They were wrong on both counts. And today we are letting you know, Villa, that we haven't forgotten and we are not about to give up asking for answers on behalf of the fans.

We demand that you to tell your loyal supporters:

1. Is the Comer deal dead and buried? If so, why?

2. Are Villa any closer to finding another buyer? If so, who?

3. Does Doug really want to sell the club? If not, what's the plan for the future?

We're not asking much, just that Villa treat their loyal fans with the respect they deserve.

On the pitch, performances are improving, and the Mail is happy to applaud the renewed vigour of manager David O'Leary and his team.

But in the boardroom, there is confusion, a lack of direction and little financial support to strengthen the squad.

And so we again demand that Villa tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth on exactly how any proposed buy-out is going.

We want answers - and we won't stop asking until we get them.

Can I add my own question to that:

4. With the squad the size it is, and the fact that manager identified getting a defender as a priority, and was promised additional funds for this in January, why was no money, not even for a loan spent in the January window?
