Not all Android phones can run Flash.

My Iphne 4 gets Facebook updates as soon as......

Not all Android phones have 4 inch screens.

Safari is as good as the Android equivalent if not better

Which will be the better platform in 12 months time............

Flash will be very rare in years to come.

But right now, it's still quite useful.

And thats the important thing.

Not for me, its not needed or important for any sites i go on or build.

Perhaps iPlayer but that will be using HTML5 before you know it.

You Tube = HTML5

You can have both iPlayer and YouTube on the iPhone (for example) without flash.

Flash is hanging on for dear life to the porn industry and design websites and even they are being built more and more in valid JS, CSS3 and HTML5.

Just out of curiosity, what would you use if videos are involved in the spec? HTML5 is not a player with codecs.

Having never visited the app store before, theres two things ive noticed.

1, the sheer amount of apps is unbelievable.

2, why are there so many idiotic comments on there, its as bad as youtube.

Some were even moaning about an 'x-ray' app that didnt really work.

FFS some people really are thick.

Yeh I saw one yesterday on an app that records you speaking in your sleep, the guy was complaining because he had an ipod touch (which doesn't have a mic) and didn't realise he'd need a mic for the app to work.

How the **** did he think it was going to work?

Well, well done for that but given how prevelant Flash was and has been, I'd rather have the ability to view it and thus have pretty much the entire net at my finger tips than what Apple would want to let me look at.

If that doesn't matter to you fine, and in the future it may not matter to any of us, but for the moment, it's still out there and thusly, it's a nice feature to be able to use.

We're taking about high end android phones here all are on 2.2, so flash is supported.

Edgadget did a test nexus one running 2.2 vs iphone 4 and came to the conclusion the nexus one was slightly faster. So you can assume the more powerful handsets like DesireHD and Galaxy s will be faster again.

There are high end handsets with 3.7, 4.0 and 4.3 inch screens. So take your pick, all bigger screens than iphone.

So in the end, it's not even a debate, faster internet, bigger screens, flash support. Google integration. Android is king of mobile internet. That is a fact.

Faster Internet - Surely signal strength will have a much bigger bearing on how fast your handset loads webpages than the software.

Bigger Screens - Some people do not want big screens

Flash Support - A big thing for some not for others

Google Integration - Only really a plus point if you use gmail.

How about?

App Store

Itunes Store

Hi-res screen

Biggest selection of 3rd party Accessories

Wide range of music players /speakers with built in dock.

So there is still some room for debate.

What the hell does the app store and all that have to do with mobile internet? They are another area entirely.

I have listed the things that high end android phones have over the iphone in terms of mobile internet.

If you are after the best mobile internet experience the high end android phones are the best. It's not even open for dispute really. Apple iphone's have no advantage over android in this area. While android have many advantages.

Even is you don't want to use flash it's not a negative having support for it.

You are right CV I will immediately sell my Iphone 4 and buy an Android handset as I will not stand for a 2nd rate mobile internet experience.

Well at least you've finally come to your senses!

;)

I think this topic is worthy of one of my annual blog posts. I'll post a link in a bit if anyone can be bothered to read it.

Sell your iphone 4 if you only use or want a smartphone for mobile internet. But most iphone users want iphones to show off as much as actually using them. Same way I buy nice onitsuka trainers.

Personally I want a bigger screen, I only use my phone for mobile internet. Apps can be helpful but I never browse the market, and could easily live without getting another app ever.

I want a light phone with a massive super amoled or better screen. That's it really. No1 selling point for new phone.

Seriously Ive owned an iPhone for about 4 hours or so and already I getting bored of all your Android chatter.

If we wanted an Android phone we'd have got one and would be in the android thread discussing it.

It seems to me you're just trying to justify you not having one to yourself, no one else. Is that cause really deep down, its a iPhone that you wanted???
