kidlewis
hey people I have been making music since I was 9 and have a varied music taste. I generally don't as "what music are you into" to someone I meet because it's not really the right question. I think "what are your favourite artists" or "what are your favourite tunes"? Genres are a very tepid way of saying what music you like. So I have spent a long time working out my Top100 tracks/songs/composition. It changes over time, I will re-discover a tune I thought was "alright" then come to realise it's actually AWESOME. The list below is alphabetical, but you will come across ones that aren't, which are the ones I have added. If anyone has done this or think they could do this, feel free to post below because you can edit your posts down the line. I think a list like this is the best way to show people what music you REALLY do like. mjmooney Posted October 29, 2008 VT Supporter Share Posted October 29, 2008 So I have spent a long time working out my Top100 singles. 1 A Day In The Life - The BeatlesWas never a single! EDIT: Applies to much of the list. You DO know what a "single" is, don't you? or did you just mean "tracks"?

kidlewis
the numbers is purely to show there is 100, and to make sure I only put 100. Just to make sure someone doesn't have a go saying I put 99 or 101. Music is down to personal preference, not one person in the whole world will have the same top100 as me, the point is that I believe this is the BEST way of showing someone what music you truly like. If someone asks me what music I like, I generally will reel of this list, or just hand them my ipod shuffle with them all on.

Bowie, Hendrix and The Beatles are all good places to start. If you like the Beach Boys I emplore you to listen to Dennis Wilson. Personally, I would've added Faith No More, Love, The Band, Dylan, John Martyn, Anticon, They Might Be Giants...and many others to that list. Variety is what you want! blandy Posted October 29, 2008 Moderator Share Posted October 29, 2008 I guess it would pretty rare for someone to name 100 pieces of music they like and for another person to not like a single one of them. I really like about 25% of those songs.

'To the End' would be a better choice, or 'Tender'. The Great Escape is a cracking album though. Rediscovered it t'other day.

Variety is what you want! it's the spice of life, especially where music is concerned. I will go as far to say I don't like a tune at all, but the melody of the vocals is pretty cool. So I will dislike a tune overall but like small aspects of it a lot.
